Obama pulls out of North Dakota

(CNN) – Barack Obama's campaign appears to be ending its push for North Dakota, a state that hasn't voted Democratic in a presidential election for more than 40 years.

Obama's campaign confirms to CNN it is pulling staffers from the state and sending them to two key nearby battlegrounds: Wisconsin and Minnesota. The Democratic nominee last visited North Dakota in early July.

President Bush carried North Dakota in 2004 by nearly 30 percentage points, though a recent American Research Group poll suggests McCain only holds a 9 point lead there. The Arizona senator currently has no paid staff in the state.

The Obama campaign has also pulled staff from Georgia, Idaho and Sarah Palin’s home state of Alaska - all historically red states that also initially appeared within striking distance.

Obama supporters just don't get it. The facts are very simple, and it has nothing to do with race. Obama hasn't even owned and operated a gas station......and somehow he ended up as my party's nominee to be PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. We are facing crisis situations in the economy, in our financial institutions, and in our international affairs.....and we're supposed to elect someone who has the least background and experience of anyone who has ever run for the presidency in the history of our country.

At least by electing McCain, we will have a Republican president and a Democratic Legislature....and Obama will not be able to run our economy deeper into the ground with all his domestic initiatives that we (the taxpayers) have no hope of funding.

Is this surprising to anyone? It's widely known and researched that more educated folks vote Democratic than Republican. I would be willing to bet money that if Obama and other Democrats are elected and able to restructure our educational system so that everyone gets a GOOD education (and not a sorry excuse for an education our children get now), we'd never vote Republican again.

So glad I live in a blue state... I can't tolerate the ignorance/stupidity that comes from the red side.

You people just don't get it! Ask small busness owners. Next time you go into your favorite restraunt, ask the owner.............
If you raise taxes on those that supply the products we need to live on, and those that supply the jobs we need to survive, those people WILL raise the prices of their products, and cut back those that work for them, that is if they don't just close down their businesses.
We will pay higher prices for food, supplies, and fuel!
Unemployment will sky rocket like you've never seen!
Don't rely on what your friends, family, and bias media say!

Start asking questions! Do your own research before you vote!

Wow, he threw a whole state away. So much for fighting for his own cause. I guess if he does get elected, we can count on all the state parks closing there to divert the money to fund his plans to rule the world. Our society will turn into a "Pay as you go" society. Maybe we'll have lower income taxes, but count on higher fee's for everything you need. Hmmmm, less freedom, more constraints. Land of opportunity = gone.

People of Europe and Canada, please tell U.S. naive Americans what Socialism and Liberalism have done for you. We'd like to know, our future depends on it.

Lucy in Seattle - you Biff and Muffy moon maidens in Seattle ONLY understand subliminal messages. THAT's scary! In fact, Obama reminds me of Monty Python's "Search of the Holy Grail" movie - riding a hobby horse across the land, pretending to be a knight!

I attended college in North Dakota, and I will say one thing about North Dakota: it's the most racist state I have ever seen. The racism there is mostly behind closed doors (unlike Southern confederate states where racism is out in the open). Since I'm white, I was often (and unwantingly) privy to the racist rants of people there. It doesn't surprise me the Obama campaign has decided to leave. The chance of that state's white racists voting for Obama is slim. Sad that they are so ignorant to vote solely on skin tone. Obama's probably the most promising presidential candidate we've seen since Kennedy. Too bad NDak is missing the boat on a historic election.

America think really hard, we have a $10 billion/month war in Iraq being swiped on a “chinese credit card”, we have a $700 billion deal being worked on to bailout some boneheaded deregulation decisions that no one is willing to take responsibility for. Sooner or later reality will set in when you realize the only thing America will be able to sell to the rest of the world is debt yes debt to offset the huge deficit to fund this adventurous war in Iraq as well as our so called deregulation that has packaged us into socialism. When no one wants to by your debt then your 2nd amendment will come in really handy.

sheryl, I suppose you think Bill and Hillary Clinton's racist comments should not have affected Black voters in the least , huh? Nor should the fact that Hillary Clinton was not truthful in several instances about her experience, nor the fact that she voted to support the war in Iraq. A large number of African-American soldiers have died in this war as well, but I guess you think African-Americans shouldn't have voted based on the issues!
