Daley slams new McCain ad

Watch: The McCain campaigns latest ad takes aim at Obama's hometown political figures.

(CNN) - Former Commerce Secretary Bill Daley, the unwilling co-star of a Monday attack ad from John McCain's campaign, told CNN he was "shocked" by the spot: "I always had a good relationship with [McCain] - or I thought I did."

The McCain spot attacks Barack Obama for his connection to "Chicago politics," pointing to his relationships with convicted developer Tony Rezko, embattled Governor Rod Blagojevich - and Daley.

Daley accused McCain of hypocrisy for attacking Obama on lobbyists: "When I was at [telecom company] SBC, I had to hire [McCain campaign manager] Rick Davis to see John McCain," he said. "He wouldn't see anyone unless you hired one of his lobbyist friends. Telecom was his and Rick Davis was his telecom lobbyist. That was in '02, '03, '04."

He said that McCain voted for his confirmation as Commerce Secretary, and pointed to the Arizona senator's public praise of his work in the Clinton cabinet.

(For instance, during a May 1998 confirmation hearing for another Commerce official, McCain said that since Daley's arrival, "relations for the department have been improving. Mr. Daley's frank, honest style and hard work have been reaping rewards." And in 2000, he pointed to Daley's "valiant effort to clean up the Commerce Department's reputation as a dumping ground for the politically connected.")

Said Daley Monday: "I think [McCain] has totally sold his soul to get elected. The things he found important in 2000 he isn't doing now."

Hey Daly these are old dates you mentioned when McCain did have lobbyists and everyone knew this. It seemed you sold your soul to Obama after 2005. How about coming up with something to date about McCAin

Both McCain and Palin would do anything, say anything, and step on anybody they had to in order to further their own poltical careers.... especially Palin.
Folks, these are NOT the people we want leading this country the next four years. It would be disastrous!!

You mean John P.O.W. reformer McCain might be in the pocket of those who lobby in his campaiogn. Can't be true. Why would John want such power? Why would he lie to us.? He has told us he is a reformer. He wants to change Washington. He wants regulation of Wall street. Surely he is not just a politician who will say and do anything to get elected. Surely he puts country first. I mean after all he was a P.O.W.

Why should McCain do any fact checking? His supporters don't care about the facts. Just look how many of them repeat the SAME ralse talking points over and over.

McCain will put as many lies out there that no one will be able to prove/disprove them all before the election.

One thing his campagin are good a is creating distractions, just like his use of Palin to do his talking where he has more opportunity to make gaffes.

"I always had a good relationship with [McCain] — or I thought I did."

YES........You continue too.......He will CALL you and ask for your forgiveness...he will explain he had to put on that type of ACT, that was the only way he knew to make fools out of the voters to get himself elected into the White House. He will beg for your forgiveness and explain he HAD to USE his (GOOD) friends to ACT as if he was reformer and would shake Washington up until he was elected. Then he will explain, DON'T worry NO ONE will lose their job, Palin and I got the White House now, WE can DO what I want and that's NOTHING.
Really good company to keep, eh???????G.W. Bush worst President in HISTORY (cake and ice cream buddies) -Lobbyist who run his campaign...Rove, Liberman, ect..........-Daughter baby suppose to be DADDY runs a RACIST ad on MY SPACE, SURE she brought him home to meet mommy & daddy. -THE KEATING FIVE (ated out to save his butt) -Palin talking about and belittling any people that are NOT 100% White during a lunch with her good old buddies of Alaska. (Quoted by a waitress who over heard her talking about people if they were not 100% WHITE), she said "Palin was loud and disgusting while her lunch buddies sit there and laughed out LOUD".

My party has sold its soul just to win. We use to be about family values (which includes not applauding pregnant teens). We use to be about education, and not celebrating people who do not value it (McCain/Palin). We use to be about frugal spending (The Bush Administration has been more liberal with spending than any other administration). The list goes on to where we have sunk to the very bottom. I will return to the party when we regain our sanity.

Republicans who will vote for Obama.
