Daley slams new McCain ad

CNN

Watch: The McCain campaigns latest ad takes aim at Obama's hometown political figures.

(CNN) – Former Commerce Secretary Bill Daley, the unwilling co-star of a Monday attack ad from John McCain's campaign, told CNN he was "shocked" by the spot: "I always had a good relationship with [McCain] - or I thought I did."

The McCain spot attacks Barack Obama for his connection to "Chicago politics," pointing to his relationships with convicted developer Tony Rezko, embattled Governor Rod Blagojevich - and Daley.

Daley accused McCain of hypocrisy for attacking Obama on lobbyists: "When I was at [telecom company] SBC, I had to hire [McCain campaign manager] Rick Davis to see John McCain," he said. "He wouldn't see anyone unless you hired one of his lobbyist friends. Telecom was his and Rick Davis was his telecom lobbyist. That was in '02, '03, '04."

He said that McCain voted for his confirmation as Commerce Secretary, and pointed to the Arizona senator's public praise of his work in the Clinton cabinet.

(For instance, during a May 1998 confirmation hearing for another Commerce official, McCain said that since Daley's arrival, "relations for the department have been improving. Mr. Daley's frank, honest style and hard work have been reaping rewards." And in 2000, he pointed to Daley's "valiant effort to clean up the Commerce Department's reputation as a dumping ground for the politically connected.")

Said Daley Monday: "I think [McCain] has totally sold his soul to get elected. The things he found important in 2000 he isn't doing now."

Hey Ellemn Rudolf are you kidding with your comment. You must not read these blogs because there are more liberal Obama supporters on here than McCain can hold a candle to. Its so funny when people come on and say I am undecided but then slam supporters of a candidate its so transparent already.

A Grand Jury in Chattanooga on Tuesday morning heard testimony into the alleged hacking of the personal e-mail of Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin. Three young college-age people declined to comment as they entered the Federal Courthouse around 9 a.m. Security officers notified members of the media at 10:30 a.m. that the trio had exited the courthouse by another door. The three, including two males and a female, are apparently friends of a University of Tennessee student who is under investigation for the hacking. ...

If you ask me they shouldn't get anytime... they didn't use any of the info to commit a crime.

As a US citizen living abroad, i have noticed that America is not the America of old, the world doesn't like us anymore. We are seen as a war mongering nation flexing it s military might every chance we get, its time we get back that positive image, and let me tell you McPalin is not the answer. From where i live i can see Venezuela on a clear day, but that doesn't make me an expert on Venezuela.

Strange how every single McCain ad is found to be misleading or just plain wrong by factcheck.org.

Just like Bush, McCain seems incapable of telling the truth.

I guess you just can't trust either of these two candidates. I'll be voting third party this year thank-you-very-much.

Is factcheck really checking facts? This is copied from one article and is not out of context.
Obama has called for national legislation against carrying concealed firearms,
Obama, "Sportsmen": Barack Obama believes the Second Amendment creates an individual right, and he respects the constitutional rights of Americans to bear arms.
If he respects the right to bear arms then he can not be against carrying concealed firearms. That is why we have the right to keep and bear arms. The word bear means to have on your person. The word keep means to own.

"I always had a good relationship with [McCain] — or I thought I did."
YES……..You will continue too, especially after the election…….He will CALL you and all of his other GOOD friends and ask for your forgiveness…What ever acting it took to get into the White House.

CNN....Will you stop letting McCain and Palin supporters lie and comments stay????

McCain is a hypocrite. Unfit to be president. Voted against the GI bill – why? Because the troops didn't deserve our respect and gratitude?

McCain is now selling-out his friends. Notice how he starts all his speeches with " My friends". Wake up America, this guy will say and do anything to attract a vote!

You can buy a visit with John McCain by hiring one of the lobbyists on his staff. Which lobbyist do you have to buy to watch Palin stumble through her interviews of foriegn leaders?

Politics in America is nasty. It will take us some time if we can ever get over it. Too many recent elections have been won with nasty comments and lies. Then after the election we find out it was all lies. I can not trust John McCain. He started out well, but then he must have seen that he was not doing well in the polls. He totally changed and picked a woman who is the exact copy of George Bush. John has lied about almost everything, but the worst is, he just shoots off him mouth without even thinking. Then when he realizes it didn't play well, he totally reverses himself. He spouts Barack Obama's exact words, as if we won't recognise them. His new ad should say "Yea, what he said". The other side exaggerates and misrepresents too, but I see that they admit it and take the ads off the air> John McCain can't admit when he was wrong ever, too much like the previous administration for me.

If your losing your home, think of McCains 7.
If you can't afford gas in your tank, think of McCains 13 cars.
If you lose your job, think of McCain's bills to support off-shore jobs.
John McCain is out-of-touch with the American public!

VOTE OBAMA/BIDEN for a new direction.
