McCain realizes he cannot win this election now without again trying to do something rash. He chose Palin and that blew up in his face. He now thinks he can do a patriotic song and dance and say he shows leadership and puts country first. We all know the truth. His world revolves around him and he will do whatever it takes to get what he wants. This is the problem with this man. He does rash things without thinking them through and then will not back down because to do so in his mind is unmanley. He has a problem with women and thinks he can control them and that they are there just for him. He is a man that thinks women should be armcandy and window dressing and nothing more. If tyhey dare express themselves as having an opinion he laughs and thinks they are inept. He is holding Palin back because he knows she is an airhead whose claim to fame is that she has been in the right place at the right time and is not above abandoning truth to get what she wants. These two are dangerous

The libs can't stand it. McCain is decisive and "the one" is about ready to vote "present." Why have the debate anyway. There isn't going to be a teleprompter and "the one' is just going to stand there and go Uh, Uh, Uh , Uh, bu, bu , but uh, uh. he was too chicken to debate McCain across the country in town hall style debates No, No, no...couldn't do that, might have to think on his feet, wouldn't be able to take his teleprompter like he did in the rodeo arena the other day. Guess this cowboy didn't wanna be bucked off. Well, at least the teleprompter supplied the 'bull' in that speechj.

These comments are utterly ridiculous. They might as well be coming from the Obama campaign themselves. First, McCain suggested that BOTH he and Obama postpone the debate and come to Washington to help solve the problem. Otherwise, we'll get the same mess we've got now, i.e. Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid manipulating the situation to try to make Republicans look bad so they can continue to cast the blame elsewhere for things that happened under their watch (as well as Bill Clinton's). McCain is the one taking politics out of the equation by saying he and Obama should work together for the betterment of the country. It's ironic that those who claim to want government to be bipartisan, are so disgustingly partisan themselves that they can't see real bipartisanship when it happens. Get over yourselves, Obama fans, it's not all about him or YOU.

This whole mess is pretty frustrating to most people, I think. I mean, jobs are on the line, businesses, the economy, our retirement plans and so forth, and what does McCain do? He tries to get political points, which is just so bleeding obvious. I can't wait until election day, when I can vote for Obama and help fix this country. Cause man, it is seriously broken. Democrats have become the new fiscal conservatives. Who woulda thought it?

Maybe he wants it canceled. According to a video and some news reported right here on CNN stating that a woman who's bank goes belly up and has FDIC insured CD and the bank takes it was actually run by John McCain's son who two months before the bank went belly up resigned citing "Personal Reasons". Wow, imagine some political bantering regarding John McCain his own infidelity and his own family's
regard to the American public.

To Lisa P. evidently you are still in high school and not old enough to vote so get out your history book and start reading. This started as early as1984 and was probably ( by alot of view points) thrown over the top when Pres. Clinton deregulated the housing industry. This has been the product of alot of corrupt politicians in both parties. Now you are supporting the biggest crook of all!

I have voted republican my entire life. But this year I am ASHAMED of the Republican Ticket. Barack Obama sounds Presidential everyday. McCain comes up with stupid comments and outrageous lies everyday. And Palin is a disgrace, there is no way she should even be on the ticket. I really don't see how McCain/Palin can get a SINGLE vote. People must be out of their minds to even consider them. I can only hope that there are many, many more Republicans and Independents that can see thru their sham of a campaign.
GO OBAMA/BIDEN

We know McCain has not had anything to do with this bailout....but I do believe that he is setting a Republican political dirty trick on Obama...just like Bush did to MCain in 2000. McCain you can hide Palin from the press, but do you think we Americans are ever going to trust you and Palin to run this country. You are now acting and looking more foolish every day.

Obama watch your back....I do not trust Bush or McCain.

SOMEBODY TELL OBAMA THAT A 'CRISIS' IS NOT A TELEPROMPTER FAILURE!

I always wondered what kind of idiots can stand to watch CNN. After reading these comments, now I know. With Biden talking about FDR going on TV in 1929 and Obama never knowing which of the "57 states" he's in, who are the clowns?

McCain is unprepared and the entire world knows Palin is unprepared. But, you cannot just call a timeout and change the rules in the middle of the game. If McCain cannot handle a debate during this critical time, how is he going to effectively lead our country? This is yet another political stunt from his campaign and we are all getting sick of this nonsense. VERY UN-PRESIDENTIAL!

I thought Johnny wanted to debate? Just like his taunts for Obama to go overseas....until Obama knocked ot out of the park. Poor Johnny. Still hasn't learned to be careful what he wishes for. Like the little kid on the play ground, he's just going to pick up his marbles and go home (to one of them) driving one of his many cars. Boy, he really is just like the average American guy.

I'M SO GLAD I LEFT THE REPUBLICAN PARTY BEFORE THIS LITTLE TRICK HIT THE STREETS!!!!! (And, no, that was not in reference to Palin.)

I like the idea of Obama and McCain returning to work this out. They are still Senators, and they have a job to do. I know people think that McCain stepping away from the debate is a politcal move, but so is not returning to vote on the bill. If Obama does not vote on it, then he doesn't have to take responsibility if it doesn't work; if he votes while away, later on you could be hearing how he didn't have all the information and would change his vote.

There have been plenty of opportunities to debate, and discussing the issues without a prepared speech certainly has not hurt McCain so far, so I doubt fear has much to do with it. He has infinitely more experience than Obama in debating.

I wonder what the reaction would have been if Senator Obama had suggested coming back.

So typical of McCain to propose change in the dates. He knows he cannot stand against Obama's logical and thought through arguments. So now he wants to postpone the debate on the most ridiculous pretext of going to DC to solve the crisis. Are you Joking? They don't need you.

Trying to postpone VP debate so that Palin gets more time. People, wake up and see what a nonsensical drama this is. How long they can take us for a ride? It is time to tell McCain-Palin to grow up and show leadership if they have any and not run away from the the debates.

We are not even talking about taking a full day, not even half a day. At the most this debate should take a few hours. You can't have a debate and cast your Senatorial vote on the same day? This is rediculous

On this one, I agree with McCain. We need a solution for the crisis. These two candidates doing a circus does not do any good.

The issue is neither candidate will be helpful in solving the situation. Instead of inviting them to solve the issue, we should lock them in somewhere, and hide them from the scene for a while.

And once the crisis is over, the both parties should step back and replace the candidates, decent people like Hillary Clinton or Olympia Snowe.

Shouldn't someone wanting to be the next President be interested in the details of this bail out?!?

Sounds to me like Obama is more interested in campaigning for electoral votes than what's actually going on in the here and now! He's about as enthusiatic to debate McCain as he was to get Florida and Michigan full votes--not! (At least until he was gift-wrapped free delegates by the DNC.)

What exactly does Mccain expect to do, since he doesn't serve on the committee that is working on this bill? It is really funny that 2 days before the debate he feels that it is of the upmost importance that everything stop so that he can help with the crises. This really doesn't seem to be very presidential to me. He can fool some people by trying to make them think that he is doing it for them, but his reasons are truly selfish. He isn't ready for the debate and needs a out.

Pelosi, Reid and Obama. reminds you of Larry, Curly and Moe of the Three Stooges fame. And put Biden in there as well and you can see the tragedy for the American People.

Both Obama and Biden voted at least twice for the famous bridge to no where. Then Biden told Katie Couric that FDR appeared on TV during the great depression of 1929. Funny since Hoover was president and TV didn't come into use by the presidents until much much later.

What stooges the Democratic leadership selected. Enny, Menny, Minney, Moe or Larry, Curly and Moe with Biden.

Obama is not on the Senate Finance Committee. McCain is not on the Senate Finance Committee. Neither one is negotiating with the White House on a compromise and bailout solution. Neither one should go to Washington since they are not the ones involved in this. It would only politicize an already difficult situation. Mccain has said he doesn't know that much about the economy. Fine, I believe him. If he isn't part of the solution, I would rather he not be part of the problem. There is a bipartisan group working on a solution now. Why would either candidate want to mess this up unless it was a political stunt that they thought might benefit them? Hold the debate and keep campaigning. One of them is going to be elected President soon enough.

McCain is losing the economic argument. He needs to do something to shake it up. Once again, this could be genius or another bad risky maneuver. If the two sides manage to come up with a solution once McCain gets into the mix than he can take some credit for the result. The problem is is that this bail out is not popular especially with Conservatives. He is walking a very tricky balancing act. If McCain can get some concessions on CEO compensation in failed businesses and strong oversight and regulations, he might do well.
