CNN gets ready to update the Electoral Map

Could CNN's electoral map shift Wednesday? Check back at 4 pm for the answer.

Could CNN's electoral map shift Wednesday? Check back at 4 pm for the answer.

(CNN) - Will the Democrats get Rocky Mountain high in Colorado?

The answer could determine who wins the race for the White House.

It's no coincidence Democrats decided to hold last month's presidential nominating convention in Denver. Colorado hasn't voted for the Democrats in a presidential election since 1992. But President Bush won the state by only 5 points over Senator John Kerry in 2004, the Democrats made major gains at the state level in the past two elections - and in this presidential election, the Obama campaign hopes to turn the state from red to blue.

A state poll out earlier this week by Quinnipiac University put Barack Obama up four points over Republican rival John McCain. Today at 4 pm ET, we'll get a better sense of where the race in Colorado stands, as CNN, Time Magazine and the Opinion Research Corporation release brand new numbers on the race for the White House in the state - and CNN updates its Electoral Map.

Check out CNN's current electoral map

The poll will also include new state surveys on the battle for the presidency in Montana, Michigan, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

I am sick of people saying Palin is qualified. Gov for 1.5 yrs? Before that PTA ? Come on. We need smart minds. Not someone who attended 5 colleges in 6 years to get a 4yr degree.

    > The coasts get to decide, while the middle does all the work.

Yeah, those financial centers in the Midwest really must be outworked. And that U.N. that is located in Tennessee has been doing a heck of a job. What about all of those biotech and IT giants located in Kansas like Microsoft, Genentech and Merck... heck of a job there.

Over the course of the last 2 elections, the middle got to decide and the coasts were left holding the bag and having to bail them out.

BTW, I lam a transplanted NYer who now lives in the Midwest so I can tell you all of this from personal experience.

Its funny to see those cheering on McCain/Palin, only talk about CNN and MSNBC... instead of backing up their party, or giving reason as to why they will win the votes. ???

As far as I am concerned, the only poll that matters is when the votes are counted on November 4/08 and then we will know who has won the presidency. CNN is only showing what they want us to see and trying to change our minds if we are voting for McCain. You know when someone keeps telling you the same thing or and over you then start to think that its really so. That's what CNN and the media who are fully supporting Obama but trying to pretend that they are impartial, are trying to and messing with our minds. Its where we put our "X" that matters and this is going to be on November 4/08. That's what important and not all these polls because today you can support someone and tomorrow you have a change of heart. PLEASE DO NOT LET THE MEDIA INCLUDING CNN INFLUENCE YOU ON WHO YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR IN NOVEMBER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Be careful CNN. Do you really want to risk being WRONG again?

Remember your integrity as a unbiased news source is on the line. If you pick O'bAMARAMA to win these states just like you did John Kerry. You can kiss any chance of getting viewers to watch you for the 2012 election process.

I want to say how proud I am of Sarah Palin. At the GOP convention she told America she was not going to swoon the media. Unlike someone else we all know

How is it the liberal media is so upset that Palin ignores them, when everyone in America knows what they really want is to twist anything she says to support O'bamarama.

I was really, really sick of the paparazzi media and now they have infested news media outlets like CNN. What people will do for a buck grosses me out.

  13. OH MY!

I wonder how many people are honestly voting on irrelevent issues such as skin color? Party? Comparing canidates to Carter or Bush? Experience? Gender? Age? If you are please stop and think..Im I really serving my country's best interest fairly by casting my vote? Are you truely delving into the facts? Can you close your eyes and really listen to both canadates fairly? Are you backing what they say with facts? It is your American duty to do so. The safety of this country should come first, economy second. Without safety first you may not have an economy to worry about. There are alot of real scarey issues out there and we really need someone that can handle it.

I agree with Nate, why don't we start fresh. Dump all 4 of the candidates and find a leader who doesn't lie to us, one who is for all the people's interests & not just certain segments. Dump the Electoral College and let the citizens of this country decide who they want in the White House. Because this year we only get the choice of evil & more evil. Neither of the candidates are 'for' anyone but themselves. They are both starting to use the wall street problems to renege on promises they have made. Obama saying "there won't be any money for the health care program" he promised. McCain not knowing what direction to take.

As for the polls, I have been a registered voter for 39+ yrs and never once been asked for my opinion. The only votes that will count in this election are Electoral Votes and they have no one checking them to keep them honest to their constituents.

As for me & mine we don't want any of these phonies in as our leaders.

Palin can not release 4 years tax return because Palin used taxpayers money to buy their house, boat and airplane.

O.K. I sent a really angry comment before and I want to apologize to CNN. This campaign mirrors the frustrations and divides in our country.

    It is simple,

do you want the same kind of people who have lied to you for eight years in office?

or do you want to try something new, it may not be up to everyones standards but at least it will be a move to change.

I like the person who said we should tax all the registered Republicans to pay for the damage caused by all the Bush cronies. Maybe we could also put a lien on George W's ranch in Crawford and Cheney's holdings (if we could ever find them since he's such a master at hiding things).

It burns me to think my 28 yr. old daughter (who works her butt off at 2 jobs) will be paying for this debacle her ENTIRE life.

I have a solution for the financial situation as well.

Let's pack up all you free-loading Democrats that constantly whine for government hand outs and don't want to work because it's too inconvenient for you and send you off to China where you can finally be happy!

You morons will overlook the scariest of facts about terrorist, felon, and communist links to O'Bama to get free health care and someone else to take charge of your life for you. Mindless morons....

About the "bailout" if our government was established to be for "we the people" why is it that "we the people" Have not gotten a place to really place our votes on what we want to happen in America as Americans? A voting place on real American issue's, that then our government has to follow for we the people, that is actually real. Then at least come hell or high water we as Americans worked it out together.

Florida is in the McCain column. Not even close. PA is up for grabs since Obama's "clinging for guns and religion" elitist comment won the state for Hillary.

Bush won Ohio by 130,000 votes in 2004. Since Hillary took Ohio handedly you can also put that state into McCains column.

Bottom line, the elitists in the MSM can spin this any way they want and they are. Obama is not going to win any blue collar districts that Kerry won in 04. Obama is going to win the foo foo elitists and all the victim groups. Maybe some kids and the self proclaimed useful idiots...oops I mean progressives.

In the end, Obama may win 10 states. And I am being generous.
