CNN gets ready to update the Electoral Map

Could CNN's electoral map shift Wednesday? Check back at 4 pm for the answer.
Could CNN's electoral map shift Wednesday? Check back at 4 pm for the answer.

(CNN) – Will the Democrats get Rocky Mountain high in Colorado?

The answer could determine who wins the race for the White House.

It's no coincidence Democrats decided to hold last month's presidential nominating convention in Denver. Colorado hasn't voted for the Democrats in a presidential election since 1992. But President Bush won the state by only 5 points over Senator John Kerry in 2004, the Democrats made major gains at the state level in the past two elections - and in this presidential election, the Obama campaign hopes to turn the state from red to blue.

A state poll out earlier this week by Quinnipiac University put Barack Obama up four points over Republican rival John McCain. Today at 4 pm ET, we'll get a better sense of where the race in Colorado stands, as CNN, Time Magazine and the Opinion Research Corporation release brand new numbers on the race for the White House in the state - and CNN updates its Electoral Map.

Check out CNN's current electoral map

The poll will also include new state surveys on the battle for the presidency in Montana, Michigan, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

  1. Students - show up!

In the 2004 election, 47% of voters aged 18-29 voted. With many new voters registered, early voting, and enthusiasm for Obama, I predict the turnout will be 65%, which is enough to push Obama over the top in states like Ohio, Florida, Virginia, and North Carolina.

These voters are not polled because they do not have landline telephones, and because they are not considered "likely voters."

I have to say, I am a little thrown back by Sara Palin. She keeps saying everyday that she wants to bring transparency and reform to Washington. But she does not even have transparency in her own state. She has “instructed” her staff people (who work for her) not to answer subpoenas for the investigation on the trooper case. Citizens of Alaska have inquired about the issue, they want transparency. Now the small case has reached public interest and the rest of the public is now being ignored. Palin is saying that the investigation is now political. But, that happens when you are in office. The other side will ask question and try to shade light on any flaw they see. It is up to her to show that there is nothing to the allegations. If she won’t be transparent on that issue, I don’t think she will be transparent on any serious concerns the American people may have if she gets in office. For undecided voters, she is not being very transparent right now.

    Rob:

You're much like your beloved Palin/McCain ticket. You give a long-winded pronouncement about how the country will fall apart under an Obama administration, but you offer no evidence to back up your claims, and you offer no ideas of your own about how the country would be better under your candidate.

How about instead of the same stale attacks, you offer a plan of how Palin/McCain will makes things better. I realize that first you have to show that your candidate understands the problems, but we've got a lot of time. There are 5 1/2 weeks until the election. Take your time.

Common Denver, Florida, Ohio, Indiana....No more lies! All McCain/Palin has done is to lie from day one. Rick Davis who is the Campaign Manager for McCain was getting paid $15,000 a month from Fannie/Freddie for doing nothing where as people like you and I have been struggling to pay our bills and to survive.

Enough of this BS...I am so sick of the Republicans. Be truthful for once!

Colorado is diverse and more and more gong BLUE. The Family focus Right Wing conservatives in Colorado Springs area – had better wake up – as much as their values may mean to them, an example is before them with a pregnant teenager possibly in the White House – what a great example of the Say no to Sex campaign. Is this really what we want? as a nation? Some one who states they are "ready" with really no credentials or educational background – I was sitting with you – but I'm moving Left – McCain has shut down the open communications and he continues to look at his notes at every speech – as if he isn't sure what he should say or not say – I have had enough and I've decided to help Colorado go Blue.

Hey Rob..........have you not heard that it is McCains top adviser that was getting huge MONTHLY payments from Fannie and Freddie all the way till the Gov took them over???

Bet you haven't seen the smear commercial about Obama since that came out right?? Gee, I wonder why!

He is telling you what you want to hear and you are falling for it the same way so many people, including myself fell for Bush.

Not making that foolish mistake again!!

Voters should be aware that in some states, you have republican representatives questioning the legality of voting. If you should indeed encounter a problem, don't be deterred by these tactics. If you live in Indiana, Wisconsin, etc. call your local Election Commission and ask what you need to do in order to vote. Make your VOTE COUNT!!

I hope the Presidential Debates, starting this Friday, sway undecided voters to vote for Barack Obama. McCain has "misspoken" so many times during this campaign, and his advisors have had to quickly tell us what McCain "meant to say". Let's see if McCain will answer questions DIRECTLY instead of going off on rehearsed answers about being a POW. Whenever he's asked about his 7+ houses, he responds with "well I used to live in a cell". McCain trying to paint Obama as an elitist, when McCain has 7+ houses and 12?+ cars? Shame on you, McCain.

I'll be interested to see if Colorado starts leaning Obama, as it should. We're pretty practical folks, and some of us remember Silverado S&L and Lincoln S&L. We don't need any more of the great deregulator and his buddy Phil Gramm. McCain also wants to reopen negotiations on the Colorado River compact, essentially to take more of our water. Thanks but no thanks to the McCain/Palin administration to nowhere.

I have never seen a more lopsided set of politicians than McCain and Palin. One is an old senility/Alzheimer's bound man who doesn't have sense enough to stay home and enjoy his wife's millions, and the other is a bubble-head with her tongue loose at both ends who acts as if she is God's gift to politics. She actually believes the propagand the Republicans have put out about how well-qualified she is to be VP, possibly President. The writers who prepare this propaganda must live on Pepto Bismol to settle the nausea they must have after writing such drivel.

On the other side of the coin we have two well-educated, well-versed men who are working hard to talk with the voters and try to undo some of the tangled mess left by the Republicans. Because of the last 8 years, voters have become more knowledgeable and cannot be fooled any more.

It's this wall of distrust Obama/Biden are trying to break down, and bring this country to the more solid and admired country it was before the 2000 onslaught by the Republicans and their bunch of parasites who went through the surplus left by President Clinton like a dose of salts.

It's time we used common sense and put in people who have the good of the country and its people in their plans for the future of this country.

That being said, the only people who fit the bill are Obama and
Biden, so get out and vote for those who are sincerely interested in this country and in YOUR future as well.

Get the country out of the RED, and the budget too. John McCain and his republican friends have already messed the budget and the country up and placed it in the red, that's not good. Everybody with good understanding can see the country can't function in the red. John McCain, your circus and clown show is over. Stop clowning around, your campaign is a big joke. All the people with good understanding, let's laugh at this joke. O.k. here's the joke "John McCain for President of the United States of America, Sarah Palin for Vice – President of the United States of America and G.W.Bush is the REPUBLICAN President (the head joke).
The real team is the Obama team. Obama is the next President of the United States of America for positive change and that's as clear as the BLUE sky above, look up AMERICA and see the whole world is BLUE. Thanks

    READ THIS PLEASE:
9/11; WAR IN IRAQ,AFGHANISTAN;pursuit of OSAMA BIN LADEN; ENRON SCANDAL;OIL SCANDALS;CREDIT CRUNCH;HURRICAN KATRINA;OIL PRICES; LEHMAN BROS......ALL UNDER THE WATCH OF THE GOP including MCAIN AND PALIN....the list is endless yet surely, surely there are people out there in CRITICALLY THINKING AMERICA who still believe in the REPUBLICANS...... WOW!
Surely, everyone must REFLECT by MIND, BODY AND SOUL. So then another 4 years of the GOP simply because YOU hate BARACK who by the way is WHITE and BLACK and is a GOOD CHRISTIAN.

SHAME on you, especially you PUMA and those who are BLATANTLY or SUB-CONCIOUSLY RACIST(the new phenomenon i've discovered).
So up to now no-one believes WAR IN IRAQ=CREDIT CRUNCH? Its money being spent in Iraq- stupid!! Not tree leaves. Remember Iraqis are also employed and paid in US dollars. Are there any returns to AMERICA?NOOO! Instead contracts are given to CHINA.Then of course you believe MCAIN can change things after 28 years. The CHOICE IS YOURS, YOU DECIDE!!

Who by now, would REALLY not have seen that race plays a significant part in this.Otherwise Obama would be 70:30 V MCAIN.There guys out there like PUMA-remember them?.Credit to those white brothers and sisters (and others of course, like LATINOS) who stand shoulder to shoulder with LOVE, IMPARTIALITY and RESPECT and say ' WE ARE ONE' or SIMUNYE in ZULU. Lest there some doubters, YES he is a jolly goodfella and yes you can fight that Gremlin called SUBCONCIOUS RACISM and share history with everyone. Because we are making it in November

Why isn't anyone reporting on the BIGGEST & MOST IMPORTANT LIE OF THE McCAIN CAMPAIGN?

Fanny & Freddie down the drain but got a bail out. McCain said his campaign managers LOBBYISTS hadn't lobbied them since 2005 but now it has been discovered this was the worst of the worst lies since they were still lobbying for them up to a month ago.

If McCain will lie about something this important Americans have to ask themselves if McCain is President and states a reason to go to war with another country how could you possibly believe him. Remeber he lied about how safe it was in Iraq to prolong this war and a lie is a lie is a lie.
