NEW YORK (CNN) – John McCain and Sarah Palin’s meeting with Bono was canceled Wednesday due to scheduling reasons, according to the campaign.

Instead, McCain and Palin will chat with Bono by phone this afternoon about the ONE Campaign, the U2 front man’s initiative to raise awareness of AIDS and global poverty.

Unlike McCain and Palin’s other meetings with dignitaries in New York this week, most of which had been open to reporters and photographers, the Bono meeting was listed as closed to the press, at the rock star’s request.

I always wondered what kind of idiots can stand to watch CNN. After reading these comments, now I know. With Biden talking about FDR going on TV in 1929 and Obama never knowing which of the "57 states" he's in, who are the clowns?

Tired   September 24th, 2008 3:44 pm ET

I'm disappointed that he's meeting with them. Those two don't care about any of his initiatives. An absolute waste of time that they will try to spin for the next month.

Farrell, Houston, Tx   September 24th, 2008 3:40 pm ET

IT DOESN'T TAKE A "QUICK STUDY" 6 YEARS, ATTEND 5 COLLEGES TO GET A BA IN JOURNALISM AS PALIN DID. SOUNDS LIKE A DUMMY TO ME AND MCCAIN AND PALIN WANT AMERICANS TO BELIEVE SHE;S A "QUICK STUDY".

Trina in New Mexico   September 24th, 2008 3:40 pm ET

So.

SlyTed   September 24th, 2008 3:40 pm ET

So much hate! No wonder you people choose not to believe in Religion, you'd surely burn in Hell! Regardless of who wins the election the purpose of the meeting is to ease poverty and control the spread of AIDS and all you jerks can do is make a childish attempt at humor.

Oregon calling   September 24th, 2008 3:39 pm ET

Things that make you go hmmmm. Do you think that he could actually favor the other ticket?

Cindy from NC   September 24th, 2008 3:38 pm ET

Is anyone suprised. Bono is really about helping people and is fully aware of foreign policy in different countries. He doesn't want to be used by the McCain campiagn to give Palin some sort of fake credentials especially if it's just for a Photo Op. He actually does have better things to do.

Musicpromo   September 24th, 2008 3:37 pm ET

That a boy Bono…

It's clear they are trying to use anyone who might might her look good. ( Hey anyone for a photo? )

Kelby from Houston, TX   September 24th, 2008 3:37 pm ET

WHISKEY TANGO FOXTROT. I thought that the rethuglicans thought very little of celebrities. Now they want to meet with Bono?!?!?!

Let's see I once sat on a bus and when aske by a French tourist "if a building he was pointing at was the US Supremem Court Building" and I said "yes." I guess that gives me foreign relations experience and expertise. Then a year ago, I attended a Cary Simon concert and she shook my hand after the concert as she was leaving. She even let my wife take a picture of her and me. I guess that gives me Hollywood Star experience and expertise. I see that Palin is now a truly an expert on the world situation, diplomacy and soon Hollywood just like me.

pam Eugene OR   September 24th, 2008 3:35 pm ET

Since when is allowing 16 seconds with Pail considered "open" to the press. Come on we know next to nothing about Palin except she promised transparency and keeps avoiding the media. What a farce!

he is always open to the press.

Charla in TX   September 24th, 2008 3:33 pm ET

Like everyone else at the UN this week, Bono probably had no clue who she was at first either……..it's obvious he found out, and rightly nixed the whole sham!!

Judith   September 24th, 2008 3:33 pm ET

I'm sure President McCain and Vice President Palin will graciously greet him at the Whitehouse next year when he comes hat in hand begging for charity.

Aulac, Texas   September 24th, 2008 3:32 pm ET

I am glad Bono doesn't go with the rest of Holywoods. He knows John McCain will be the next President of the United States!

President McCain   September 24th, 2008 3:32 pm ET

BONO is a tool, and is more qualified to be president than Obama.

McCain and Palin are behaving as leaders while Obama is still out telling lies.

Gawd, I'll be glad when this is over and Obama goes back to selling crack cocaine on the South Side.

no to mcpain yes to obama !

What on earth has this self indulged singer done to merit meeting with world leaders? What a joke.

I am honestly not sure.

Anonymous   September 24th, 2008 3:25 pm ET

palin is an insult to everything America stands for, shame on john mccain.

Cynthia   September 24th, 2008 3:24 pm ET

If they were planning to keep the press out they might as well cancel it. The American people still don't know enough about Palin to make an informed decision. What they should do is show the McCain/Palin ticket that we can't be hoodwinked with the con game he is trying to play.

Beverly, NYC   September 24th, 2008 3:23 pm ET

29 seconds to take pictures is not a meeting open to the press.
I'm sure Miss Sarah is bummed not to have her picture taken with a star. BTW Sara , Bono's THE ONE campaign is not about you!

Enjoy your cone of silence until October 2nd!!!

Praetorian, Fort Myers   September 24th, 2008 3:21 pm ET

Bono is a facilitator of world peace, prosperity, and ending poverty and persecution.
He's also against abortion.

I'm sure Bono wants his political opinons to remain private. He's an agent for change–on a global scale–and U.S. politics is a sideline.

I have no doubt a telephone conservation is nearly as good as a meeting in person gain input that will help develop global policy.

Republican voting for Obama/Biden   September 24th, 2008 3:20 pm ET

McCain and Palin are still playing "foreign affairs" experience when the country is going down the tube. Palin needs to practice on the show "Are you Smarter Than a Fifth Grader". After all 4 years and 5 colleges later! They say she is a quick study.

Now McCain wants to cancel the debate after all of Palin's secret meetings are completed. More pandering.

jaye   September 24th, 2008 3:20 pm ET

Like Bono is going to support McCain and Palin – Bono knows they're just using him for political purposes.
Bono is a great man – John McCain is not….and Palin is a joke!

heartlight 3, Maui, HI   September 24th, 2008 3:19 pm ET

The point about the bridge to nowhere is this. McCain/Palin are saying earmarks are bad and they want to eliminate earmarks altogether. Obama/Biden aren't saying all earmarks are bad, they are saying earmarks should be transparent and revealed to the public. Thus the fact that Palin solicited and took earmarks in spite of her position is hypocritical. The earmarks that Biden and Obama received are public information, thus they are not being hypocritical about them.

FactCheck   September 24th, 2008 3:17 pm ET

Bono probably told Palin to met him "Where the Streets have No Name."

TJ   September 24th, 2008 3:15 pm ET

McCain is asking to cancel this Friday's debate, also…..I suppose he is using the economic crisis for a reason. All the more reason for us to see and hear the two of them together since economy is all about Foreign Relations. I hope Obama does NOT agree to cancel this debate. As we move closer and closer, McCain campaign wants to draw their wall around them closer and tighter. They do not want the voters to see their candidates or for their candidates to be tested and vetted by the voting public.

Debate, move forward. Isn't he the one who has been taunting and ridiculing Obama for not meeting him in town halls? for celebrity? for oratory? for Hope? for Change??

He is a big phony. A blow hard. And that "breath of fresh air" of Palin? Just BS blowing.

JACK   September 24th, 2008 3:14 pm ET

why all that hype about sarah palin meeting world leaders, if those meetings are not open to the press. these cadidates should stop playing with peoples intelligence and start to discuss issues affecting the american people. this election is no joke, so politicians got to respect the people.

JACK   September 24th, 2008 3:11 pm ET

why all that hype about sarah palin meeting world leaders, if those meetings are not open to the press. these cadidates should stop playing with peoples inteliigence and start to discuss issues affecting the american people. this election is no joke, so politicians got to respect the people.

mimi   September 24th, 2008 3:10 pm ET

I'm sure Bono does not support someone who is so scarily backward in advancing humankind and therefore He opted out of the photo op!! Making women pay for rape kits, speaking in tongues, believing that man has not contributed to global warming, not supporting stem cell research to help alleviate horrible illnesses, believing that certain books should be banned and that the war in Iraq is God's war does not underscore what Bono has been working so hard for all of these years! In fact, his mission has been to make people aware of world issues, not to try to promote someone who would set them back 50+ years!

ines   September 24th, 2008 3:09 pm ET

Bono is a very smart person, indeed. He knows the McCain campaign would twist and use the photo-op with him as a quasi-endorsement. Smart move!

Ron from Baltimore   September 24th, 2008 3:09 pm ET

The Republicans certainly needed a good rallier, someone to get the troops up and shouting. Lord knows that's true. It's just way too soon for someone like Palin. They'd have been much smarter to have picked someone else this time around, but still have used her to campaign, building her resume and status and credentials the way Obama did, the way even Clinton did after his stirring National Convention speech and related campaigning before he ran for President.

Now they may well be shooting a golden…er….opportunity, wasting Sarah's talents with this ill-conceive early roll-out.

Susan   September 24th, 2008 3:09 pm ET

He is not going to be used as a Photo Op for Sarah Palin. Good for him.

Lisa in Shelton   September 24th, 2008 3:09 pm ET

Guess John isn't concerned about getting the rockstar vote since they refused to comply with Heart's request. But stalling from the debate w/Obama – now that is a cowardly sham.

Emit R Detsaw   September 24th, 2008 3:08 pm ET

I'm more qualified to be VP than Palin. I have spent time in 14 different countries for periods of 30 days or longer, handled a larger budget as a manager in a fortune 100 company, …………..

And I even have met Bono before. LOL

McCain is a loser for picking her. There were tons of people more quailfied than the cheerleader.

Independent in NC   September 24th, 2008 3:08 pm ET

Somehow I think Bono understands the difference between charging a woman's insurance for a rape kit vs charging the woman herself. If a woman's medical insurance will cover it, why not charge that instead of the taxpayers? Isn't covering medical procedures the reason people get health insurance?

Bono requested the closed meeting – maybe he felt his cause and its message are too important to be used as fodder by candidates for political gain. And by that, I mean McCain's camp publicizing the interview or Obama's camp using it against McCain.

Marilyn, I totally agree. I really don't want either one.

Darko   September 24th, 2008 3:06 pm ET

News Flash, most meetings with foreign dignitaries are done without the press…only a camera if that.

The fact that it was their 1st meeting is even more reason to keep the press from interupting with stupid questions about moose and lipstick.

Abbie   September 24th, 2008 3:04 pm ET

Good for Bono! He knows what Palin is really trying to do which is nothing but a desperate photo-op , she again is trying fool the American public! The meeting will achieve nothing for the things Bono truly stand for, it is all just a waste of his time!

Bono Should Be A No Show   September 24th, 2008 3:02 pm ET

Her state has had more rapes than any other. Shouldn't she go home and take care of Alaskans?

And what's up with telling the rape victims they have to pay for the rape kits.

Sarah, not for women, and not for me. No wonder Bo didn't show.

Really Betty? Republicans "push kids into incest?" That's an irresponsible, ludicrous statement.

A real woman in VA   September 24th, 2008 3:01 pm ET

NOW, the National Organization of Women has endorsed the Democrat ticket. I am one of the original bra-burning feminists, and I think women like Sarah Palin are better off at home, raising kids, rather than trying to involve themselves in traditionally male dominated things like politics. Alaska is a state full of drunks and crazy people. We don’t need trailer trash incestuous porno pretenders representing us. Vote for the ticket without a woman on it. Vote Obama/Biden ! It takes real men to do a man’s work.

Honestlady   September 24th, 2008 3:01 pm ET

The McCain Campaign probably cancelled the meeting once they learned that Bono wanted it closed to the press.

Hilary B, California   September 24th, 2008 3:00 pm ET

Here's a new concept. Suppose the GOP picks a VP who can actually TALK to the press? What a great concept, then the American people can decide if she has the credentials to be the next VP, or is she is a hot-air blowing, big-haired, phony fake person.

Obama/Biden 08

Yes- because Bono does not want to be misinterpreted as supporting/endorsing McCain/Palin- with Bono being an activist and all, their interests and beliefs are worlds apart! Bono is for peace and environmental issues and McCain/Palin are for War and shooting wolves from planes. WORLDS APART!
I am glad they are no longer meeting- Bono has better things to do durring this time at the UN than make Palin feel like she is boosting her Foreign Policy experience by conversing with him.

CNN POST THIS
The new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll will be released at 6:30 pm ET, but here's an early look at one set of numbers:

Forty-nine percent say that Palin is unqualified to be president if the need arises, compared with 40 percent who say she's qualified.

By contrast, 64 percent believe Biden is qualified to be president, versus just 21 percent who disagree.

McCain doesn't trust his running mate to talk to the press alone. He's continually shielding her. What does that say about his confidence in her abilities? Did he not think about that BEFORE selecting her as his vp? Makes you wonder ONCE MORE about his wisdom and ability to lead our country. It's so sad that this woman is nothing more than a pretty "token". I wonder if she finds all this shielding demeaning. As a reasonably intelligent woman I certainly would!

Killbucket   September 24th, 2008 2:45 pm ET

McCain and Palin's meeting with dignitaries in New York was open to the press this week??? It was reported here in The Ticker that the one with Karzai was open to the press for 29 seconds and with Uribe for 15-20 seconds! THAT'S open??? It was just long enough for the photo ops, but not to hear any of the "discussions"!

Feminist Betty   September 24th, 2008 2:31 pm ET

I don’t want my TV taken away, or my children pushed into incest, so I oppose Sarah Palin and her failed old Republican moral policies. Ain’t no small time pale white trailer trash from a state full of drunks going to close down my kids schools and force them out into home schooling. No way! And we don’t need to take away school lunches and give them all to big oil companies, and we don’t need no guns in this house. That’s why I have always voted for Hillary, and now I will vote for Biden/Obama.

4 THE CONSTITUTION   September 24th, 2008 2:31 pm ET

Somehow I doubt that Bono supports women having to pay $300-$1200 for their own rape kits – so Sarah Lie can stop them from going through with collection of evidence if they are poor. That way she can maybe avoid any one at the ER giving the victim the " Morning After Pill" or any counselng referrals that might include a choice stance. Of course the rapist goes free to reaffend (no evidence collection). I wonder if she cares that rape stats are the highest in her state-or that the victim may not get an AIDS TEST without counseling at the ER.

MCSAME IS ANGRY

tws1906   September 24th, 2008 2:29 pm ET

Reporters would be banned from this meeting too.

Spencer from VA   September 24th, 2008 2:28 pm ET

Bono has come to his senses and realizes what jerks he's supporting.

Amy, NY   September 24th, 2008 2:28 pm ET

yeah right! That's because you figured out it was totally irresponsible to meet with a rockstar at a time of crisis! What? Sarah wanted to meet with Bono and McCain couldn't say no? Like he couldn't resist to having her as a VP and ruin his last chance of winning these elections?

Esmeralda   September 24th, 2008 2:27 pm ET

No photo-op! Well, then why meet? Oh, they are not….

Jr   September 24th, 2008 2:26 pm ET

CNN POST THIS

Gov Palin, has consistently LIED about the bridge to no where, and she has failed to mention that she allowed construction on the ROAD to NO WHERE that was suppose to lead to the bridge to NO WHERE!…LIES LIES and more LIES!

Marilyn Black   September 24th, 2008 2:26 pm ET

I'd like to know how we are expected to vote for either of these candidates or their vice presidential choices when they all lie and exagerate their records. I am very discouraged or am I just too naive?
Biden and Obama had an opportunity to vote against the Bridge to Nowhere and send that money where it was needed and Palin voted in favor of it until it became unpopular.

Preston   September 24th, 2008 2:25 pm ET

I'm sorry, Mr. Hamby, did you say that Palin's meetings with other dignitaries were open to the press? You are joking, right? They were nothing more than photo ops, pure and simple. Certainly you can't have failed to catch the major dust-up over her utter lack of availability to the press yesterday. And by the way, did you make any effort to get more information about the "scheduling reasons", or are you simply part of the McCain-Palin reverb chamber. What shabby reportage!

Alex   September 24th, 2008 2:24 pm ET

It is inaccurate to say her previous meetings were open to reporters and photographers…you are either not reporting accurately yesterday.

mitchell   September 24th, 2008 2:24 pm ET

MY FAVORITE BAND,EVER!!!!

but, i'm sure BONO doesn't support mccain/ palin.
BONO is not racist, like them.

Don   September 24th, 2008 2:24 pm ET

Good for Bono. Don't let them use you as a shill for Palin's cluelessness.

PoliticoMike   September 24th, 2008 2:23 pm ET

Bono wants nothing to do with them!

Alex   September 24th, 2008 2:22 pm ET

When do you people at CNN report accurate information? Yesterday I read complaining that reporters and photographers were denied access to Palin when she met the dignitaries. You indicated that photographers were allowed only for 30 seconds when she met Afghan President Hamid Karzai and for 15 to 20 seconds when she met with Colombian President Alvaro Uribe. When are you reporting the truth – yesterday or today? I am sick and tired of this inaccurate reporting. Supporting Mr. McCain is something but misinforming the public is totally an acceptable.

iamconfused   September 24th, 2008 2:22 pm ET

"Unlike McCain and Palin’s other meetings with dignitaries in New York this week, most of which had been open to reporters and photographers,"….

excuse me CNN, I thought the Palin meetings with foreign dignitaries were closed to the press, and no one was allowed in except a single cameraman for a few seconds.

Can you clarify???

Stephen in Texas   September 24th, 2008 2:22 pm ET

I wonder if Palin thinks that AIDS is God's punishment on gays, as many of her religious fundamentalist friends think?
McCain is reckless enough without Palin. We don't need him to have an anti-science, religious zealot cheerleader filling him full of even more reckless ideas.
A vote for the McCain/Palin ticket is an act of social and ecological terrorism through the ballot box.

Man, the Republicans must think the rest of the nation is as stupid as most Republicans clearly are.

It was cancelled because Bono would have talked to the media and exposed Palin. Bono loves to talk to the media and the McCain camp was afraid their "discussion" may get leaked out.

Bono has serious work to do and probably didn't want to waste his time on this photo opportunity.

ah Peter Hamby.. you wrote: Unlike McCain and Palin’s other meetings with dignitaries in New York this week, most of which had been open to reporters and photographers .

Do you wish to retract that statement?

idiots! It's very hard for intelligent people to have a conversation with idiots.

Bono didn't want to be part of Palin's farcical staged and scripted no- substance-as-usual photo-op tour of the U.N.

It's doubtful any of the other leaders wanted to take part either.

Palin heard there was going to be a repoter there

Trudy   September 24th, 2008 2:12 pm ET

Palin REFUSED to let the media in the meetings for more that 29 seconds …. what is up with writing, "most of which had been open to the press" Palin is CLOSED OFF from the Press because Rove & McCain are afraid she can't speak unless she's memorized a speech Bush' s speech writers write for her

Of course the "meeting" was cancelled – Bono doesn't want to look like Bozo by giving her a photo op…

If she can't stand the heat…..

Bono would have been a better choice

Is it impossible for McCain/Palin to EVER tell the truth?

SDB   September 24th, 2008 2:09 pm ET

Do people realize that the government is going to bail out these 'banks' with out tax money…and then these "banks" are going to continue to charge us payments for the mortgages, loans, etc as well? I have an idea..why doesn't the government just pay off the American people? Give every family a house? Pay off all of our credit card debt? Forgive our student loans? That way the 700 billion goes to help the American people and not the dishonest "banks"???? The "leaders" are doing this for the good of the people…well then do something good for the people for a change. We dare you!! It would definitely help the economy…

Betty Lea   September 24th, 2008 2:09 pm ET

She is not presidentual at all. If they can't trust her to have a simple meeting with dignitaries with out any political policies to be discussed.
Then there is only one thing that they are hiding. She is not prepaired to be president and she is being hidden from the public. Carefully scripted speeches is all the public sees.
Watch, her debate is going to be a joke!

That's too bad. Bono has shown himself to be an intelligent and articulate person who makes an effort to inform himself on the issues he cares about, and uses his celebrity status wisely to further his causes and not himself. I hope both McCain and Obama have the chance to meet him, just so that whoever wins has the benefit of his counsel. It's a shame HE can't run for President.

thats a shame, I think Bono would have loved the sincerity of Sarah Palin.

And good on Bono for not wanting the vultures in the press at his meetings, as i'm sure the other heads of state would have preferred too. These meetings were a chance for Sarah Palin to chat on a personal level and nothing scripted that needs to be done for the media.

Al, NY NY   September 24th, 2008 1:52 pm ET

What is this supposed big meeting going to accomplish?? Maybe she'll ask him what his children's names are, then inquire how things are going in Ireland. Since she's now an expert in Afghan policy after yesterday, this will strike Ireland off the "need to know" list too. What's next after today….a meeting with Sting to discuss England?

Go for McCain a man who will protect America, our freedom, our values and our money.

I'm actually shocked that Bono would meet with them. There's no way such an important international advocate for those less fortunate would vote for the McCain/Palin ticket.

It is unfair that McCain and staff are hiding Palin from the reporter and will not give the public the chance to get to know her.

Therefore, I believe Palin and her husband, the bully, is hiding quiet a bit of information.

Nifty 60, female and white   September 24th, 2008 1:50 pm ET

Anyone else sick of this Palin issue? How many more excuses can the Repuks come up with to keep her from the press? It is always some one elses fault with them…if they would have…if they wouldn't have….if…if…Any American with a little intelligence has to have figured out by now that she needs grooming before being turned loose on the public. This is who you want in the White House to possibly be the next president? Very, very scary. She will be nothing more than a robot to the same people who have run this country into the ground right now and "We the people…." are paying the price. She is no different than her rich political friends…it's not country first…..it's me first. I really thought with the economy being as it is people will see the light and actually I know they have but racism will not allow them to vote for a black man and every excuse will do to cover up that fact. Maybe a little more indoctrination of Palin's cult religion with laying on hands and speaking in tongues will do the trick. Maybe paying for your own rape kit will do it ….maybe….maybe…maybe….In the end "we the people…." will pay the price for the racism of a few.

NOT ready to lead, NOT ready for the press, NOT ready to be transparent.
I have to say, I am a little thrown back by Sara Palin. She keeps saying everyday that she wants to bring transparency and reform to Washington. But she does not even have transparency in her own state. She has “instructed” her staff people (who work for her) not to answer subpoenas for the investigation on the trooper case. Citizens of Alaska have inquired about the issue, they want transparency. Now the small case has reached public interest and the rest of the public is now being ignored. Palin is saying that the investigation is now political. But, that happens when you are in office. The other side will ask question and try to shade light on any flaw they see. It is up to her to show that there is nothing to the allegations. If she won’t be transparent on that issue, I don’t think she will be transparent on any serious concerns the American people may have if she gets in office. For undecided voters, she is not being very transparent right now.

Canadian POV   September 24th, 2008 1:48 pm ET

Who cares? Until she speaks to the press without a script her credibility continues to wane and the choice of her as VP becomes more and more suspect.

These UN meetings are such a gimmick. Only elected officials can actually have meaningful discussions with foreign leaders. Why doesn't Palin have a meaningful discussion with the American public by talking to reporters and put this nonesense to rest.

Steve, New York, New York   September 24th, 2008 1:48 pm ET

"Closed to the press" huh?

Should we call her Sarah "Closed To The Press" Palin?

She won't let anyone question her, she won't give America a clear answer as to why she's suddenly refused to cooperate with the investigation in Alaska.

What's wrong McCain campaign? Are you afraid that people will find out that she's totally clueless if she's not "fed" questions and answers ahead of time?

No McPain   September 24th, 2008 1:48 pm ET

Of course it was cancelled because Bono requested "no press" meaning no standout picutres reflecting Gov Palin in a good light — if that's possible. Why are Americans putting up with this nonsense that we can't ask a question to Gov. Palin. Talk about another 4 years of a "Bush" administration. Just a continuation of lies, secrecy, BS, etc. Wake up American people – go for Sen. Obama.

Let me guess. Bono, who understands global issues as well as most politicians, made mention that he had a few questions for Palin. Palin suddenly had scheduling issues. Wouldn't want to actually have to answer questions from a "leftist" (Republican code word for someone who cares about people) global activist would we, Sarah?

I am proud democrat and proud of our choice!

Jim   September 24th, 2008 1:41 pm ET

Donna   September 24th, 2008 1:40 pm ET

Isn't Bono one of Obama's celebrity friends that McCain has been talking about?

I don't blame Bono for closing it off from the press..he doesn't want McCain trying to look "hip" with the young crowd on his watch….

Jerry Ohio   September 24th, 2008 1:40 pm ET

McCain and Palin are running scared now why did they cancel meeting with Bono I guess they heard Obama is leading in the polls

Ryan   September 24th, 2008 1:40 pm ET

Who cares

David   September 24th, 2008 1:40 pm ET

Probably so they can teleprompt Palin rather than leave her to her own devices.

Tom in Delaware   September 24th, 2008 1:40 pm ET

What a bummer…Bono's musical message is awesome.

BKMC   September 24th, 2008 1:40 pm ET

Bono has to understand that the abstinance only strategy was promoted by WBush and was a real failure in the US and around the world. So meeting with Sarah Evangelical Palin and McCain who has no clue about HIV/AIDS is a serious mistake. Bono he has to be careful if not he will lose his credibility in the process.

no more Black eyes   September 24th, 2008 1:39 pm ET

yeah "scheduling reasons" right, right

Open Your 3rd Eye   September 24th, 2008 1:39 pm ET

YOU GOT THE WRONG GUY BONO!

MCSAME DOES NOT REPRESENT "ONE" PEOPLE.

NOT EVEN CLOSE.

BARACK IS YOUR MAN FOR THIS VERY IMPORTANT PLAN.

ONE.

Jim   September 24th, 2008 1:39 pm ET

whats not listed as closed to the press these days when it come's to Sarah Palin, our potential future president that is hidden from questions, sure throws transperancy out the window.

AMERICA IS IN NEED OF NEW LEADERSHIP   September 24th, 2008 1:39 pm ET

Bono didn't want to feed into the madness…………………..

THANK YOU

OBAMB/BIDEN 08

Speider   September 24th, 2008 1:38 pm ET

Bono? Mr. "Green" is going to meet with McCain and Palin? Maybe he decided there was no way he could convince them to change their thinking and gave up.

Jeffer65   September 24th, 2008 1:38 pm ET

That's good he supports some causes, but Bono should stick to making music. Why do people take him so serioulsy, especially American politcians running for Prez and VP.
