McCain camp to propose postponing VP debate

(CNN) - McCain supporter Sen. Lindsey Graham tells CNN the McCain campaign is proposing to the Presidential Debate Commission and the Obama camp that if there's no bailout deal by Friday, the first presidential debate should take the place of the VP debate, currently scheduled for next Thursday, October 2 in St. Louis.

In this scenario, the vice presidential debate between Joe Biden and Sarah Palin would be rescheduled for a date yet to be determined, and take place in Oxford, Mississippi, currently slated to be the site of the first presidential faceoff this Friday.

Graham says the McCain camp is well aware of the position of the Obama campaign and the debate commission that the debate should go on as planned - but both he and another senior McCain adviser insist the Republican nominee will not go to the debate Friday if there's no deal on the bailout.

Obviously McCain can't multitask. Do we need someone like this as Prez? No.

This is not a major contribution to the electoral process just another diversion or distraction to the presidential campaign. I am disappointed in the GOP nominee you are making us look like cowards. Are you trying to say to us that we cannot multi-task? President Bush can multi-task and now I wish Mitt was on the ticket instead of you! This irritates me to no end! You motives may be principled but this looks like your pulling a stunt or a tantrum. Put the campaign back on please! Finish the race for the whitehouse!

NO! Please media, do something!. He should not be able to get away with this. People will be voting in 16 states (early) before McCain agrees
    to any debates.

WHAT IS GOING ON Mr. McCain? Are you trying to screw this up?

They want to delay the debates because they're afraid of them. This is a cheap political stunt to hide under the economy.

McCain seems to enjoy postponing things so that he can pretend to be in charge of whatever crisis arises. First the GOP convention and now he wants to postpone the first debate.

In the mist of a hurricane , the Republican National Convention went on as planned. The American people have waited long enough, it's time for the first debate. After the debate, McCain can go back to Washington.

Once agin the real leader steps up. I know all you libs will say this is a politicl stunt, he is afraid of Obama etc...but once agin he is right on the money. At the outset of this election I was ambivilent about who became president, actually I was somewhat intriged by Obama. What a difference several months make. The idea of Obama becomming President of the United States is simply horrific.

  15. IT'S CONTAGIOUS, NOW MCCRYPT IS SPEAKING IN TONGUES!

Last week the "fundamentals" in the economy were fine, now you cannot afford an hour and a half on a Friday night? I guess you, Sarah and God had a brief meeting, and all of D.C. is breathlessly waiting for your words of economic wisdom?

It does not look good when you cannot handle more than one crisis at a time, McCrypt. Perhaps, your mind is not nimble enough? You going to call a time out when Iran and Russia have issues in the same week?

He doesnt want to have the debate because he doesnt want to answer questions about the current situation with the economy because he had a hand in the deregulation. Not having a bailout deal in place by friday is not going to make matters any worse than they already are. Thats just like breaking your leg and needing surgery but if you dont have it its going to break again. Then your trying to give the woman with the screeching voice longer before the American peopleefind out what they already know. Shes just as much an idiot as you are. You dont have to show up we already knew you were yellow, hiding behind a woman.

What has Obama multitasked? I understand no one wants 4 more years of Bush, But McCain isn't Bush. As far as the debates go, put them off. Obama skirted out of debates all summer long with McCain. Do you really think McCain was afraid of a debate on foreign policy with Obama?
Sorry guys but it looks to me like Obama is using this, trying to say McCain is afraid of his debate on foreign policy. All last week the Obama campaign blamed the economy on the Republican administration and how bad our economy was and, now they make the debates more important then the economy. Talk about flip floping. Do your research, don't just run off your emotions.

LOL So John Mccain thinks the next time Russia invades another country he can call them and say hey, " postpone your invasion I'm dealing with an economic issue in the United States. Now this is funny.

I think this is going to backfire for McCain.

I mean, after all when there's an economic crisis the last place that people want John McCain is in Washington.

There you go! The other shoe falls. Why not postpone the elections?? and increase our misery. You must be kidding that this is happening!! McCain is one lousy trckster who got a call from Obama at 8.30 am to request for a joint statement on the current bailout situation and what does McCain do, he does a dirty one upmanship act and before issuing a loint statement, says he wants to postpone the debate and suspend the campaign and now this. Why did he and palin stand for election in the first place, to show that they capable all this nonsense??

Now the beauty of McCain's plan is apparent. Delay Sarah's revelations of how bad she really is. Let me guess McInSain, you want to delay it till Nov. 5th?

    CNN post this .....

McCain is an insane, delusional, desperate man who is obviously, like other Republicans who lose, a sore loser. IF (and a big IF) he is elected with his "Hilljilly" running mate, when the chips are down (as it appears in his campaign) is he going to "stop the world" because of some crisis somewhere ??????????

He is hiding from the truth or maybe just trying to postpone the inevitable.

  24. Soo Transparent

HA HA HA! ooooh now we get it. McCain it is becoming more transparent by the minute. NO Way! No How! You AND Ms. Palin WILL DEBATE. The American people deserve to hear what you two have to say for the state of our economy!

    HELL NO!

Could it now be any more obvoius why he's pulling this "campaign suspension" stunt and asking for the Presidential debate to be postponed? I was jsut talking with a buddy and we were theorizing it was to push the 3rd debate off the table, but I wasn't sure what the theme for that one was. Now now it's painfully obvious it's all because they aren't ready to allow Palin out! She's not ready.

DO NOT ALLOW THIS GAME TO CONTINUE. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
