McCain camp to propose postponing VP debate

(CNN) - McCain supporter Sen. Lindsey Graham tells CNN the McCain campaign is proposing to the Presidential Debate Commission and the Obama camp that if there's no bailout deal by Friday, the first presidential debate should take the place of the VP debate, currently scheduled for next Thursday, October 2 in St. Louis.

In this scenario, the vice presidential debate between Joe Biden and Sarah Palin would be rescheduled for a date yet to be determined, and take place in Oxford, Mississippi, currently slated to be the site of the first presidential faceoff this Friday.

Graham says the McCain camp is well aware of the position of the Obama campaign and the debate commission that the debate should go on as planned - but both he and another senior McCain adviser insist the Republican nominee will not go to the debate Friday if there's no deal on the bailout.

I agree with McCain on this one. The current economic crisis is far more important than any debate and, if McCain and Obama can be of as*sistance in alleviating that, then the debate should wait until later.

    First things first.

Yeah right! "the vice presidential debate between Joe Biden and Sarah Palin would be rescheduled for a date yet to be determined" It would never be rescheduled!

Totally a ploy to protect her from reveling herself and her outlandishness to the American people.

So this means Sarah Palin is NOT ready for her VP debate and the McCain campaign is trying to stall. This is absurd.

Keep the schedule as planned. It's called multi tasking. The average American worker has had to do it since jobs have been outsourced to other countries, and co-workers have been laid off, but there is twice as much work. The candidates can handle it.....I hope!

This was an obvious ploy by the McCain campaign to buy Palin more time to study her cliff notes.

Ha ha ha .... now I get it. This is so utterly ridiculous that even a 4 year old can see through this. Why bother even having debates? We can set up a bunch of 1-800 numbers, charge $1.95 per call and have Ryan Seacrest host the whole thing. McCain, you are clueless.

OMG what a chicken! after 7 years the repugs have destroyed the US economics structure, now McCain want to fix it in 6 days and rest for one day?

MCcain just said last week that fundamentals of our economy were still strong, and today we are in the middle of an ecomic crisis. What happen McSenile? Do you understand what are the fundamentals of our economy?

This was a scam all along. McCain knew he could not postpone the presidential debate on Friday in such short notice. Since he couldn't postpone it, he decided to delay the vp debate because Palin is not ready. Wait till the media gets a hold of this considering they are upset, rightfully so, for the limited access to Palin. Big mistake by McCain.

As Obama said in his brief speech and press conference, a president has to be able to do more than one thing at a time. Let the debate go ahead. McCain is just trying to duck out of it and the other two as well because he knows he will come out on the losing end. He may be a Viet Nam war hero but he is a political coward.

What are they doing? Do they think America will buy this load? This is getting crazier by the minute. McCain is absolutely losing it. Does he really think the American people do not need to hear from him or Palin until after the election. Give me a break and GO OBAMA!!!!

This is unbelievable. If you can not multitask you have no business trying to run this country. Now that would be putting the country first.

McCain appears determined to transform his so-called 'maverick' image to one of recklessness, cynicism and careless disregard for the well-being of the American people.

  23. No Way, No How, No Mccain

What is McCain scary? A president should be able to multi-function. This problem has long existed and he deregulated it with lots and lots of votes against regulations. Come on McCain. Get going with the debate.
