If McCain wanted to put country first, where was he when his voice was needed before the economy went down the tubes? McCain and th Republicans are the reason we are in this mess.
I guarantee this bailout will go forth now to help McCain.

Can't everyone see what is going down right before their eyes? McCain wants to have it said that he is responsible for the resolution of the bailout to score political points. He is too transparent!

Joe Biden as well as Obama need to vote on the Bail Out Bill which is sounding worse everyday. Especially listening to Barney Frank and Maxine Waters wanting low interst fix rate loans for those being foreclosed because they got exotic loans. I did a foreclosure and it took 8 years to fix my credit enough to get a house at a higher rate than I wished. I have no sympathy for them. The idea of 700 billion dollars to Wall Street without something better for the taxpayer is a poison pill!

Palin can't answer a question about McCain. She told Katie she would get back to her. And McCain claimed he had not read the Bailout Plan--all 2.5 pages of it. Don't you have a FAX machine? You're not serious about the American people. You are all for show and no-show.

Mcbush and Mccain are posturing just to buy their sweetie pie Palin a little time for her one and only debate with Joe Biden. She is not done with her homework yet and has not yet learned and memorized all that she has to learn. So, Mcbush and Mccain planned this whole thing to delay debates. This is the biggest political move yet ! Go to Washington, do your job that we pay for, and then hit the road on your private jet to MS for the debate and then go home. It's simple! what's the big deal? Oh, maybe this is too much travelling for an old man like Mccain. Now, I undesrtand!

Anyone who can watch Sarah Palin's interview with Katie Couric and still say you want her a heartbeat away from the presidency is NOT putting 'country first'. She is an appallingly dimwitted person suited to small town politics only and has no knowledge or depth to face the problems of a country like America. She knew NOTHING and her answers were incoherent at best.
Her executive experience was nothing when she spent 312 days at home and not in Juneau where her job actually was. Her colleagues even had buttons printed with "Where's Sarah?" to protest her frequent long absences from her job as governor.Politics in Alaska has NOT prepared her for VP or POTUS, not at all.
Her intelligence level just doesn't even give her the capacity to grasp all she would need to know and to reason and make decisions required of her in a position of such power. At least on that score I have utter and complete faith in Obama's abilities and his judgement has been consistently superior.

I remember over a year ago Joe opened his mouth and made one of many "gaffes" in his career. Something about a young black man who speaks well or something, quite an uproar at the time. I then heard him speak on an African-American radio show, appease the hosts in about 3 seconds and move on to state his policy positions in the upcoming presidential race. After hearing his interview I had to get more info on him, Joe's the man and oddly enough the subject of his career-ending gaffe chose him as VP.

Biden is talking through his A##, and has little to talk about. Strictly a whole bunch of crap.

Obama/Biden ticket is truly a very big mistake for our country and I do hope that a lot of the Hillary Clinton supporters like myself will come out and vote for McCain/Palin in 2008 and then in 2012 come out and vote for Hillary Clinton.

Tejano- What exactly has McCain done or offered for this situation?

Obama has been stating over and over what should be done to help with this economic 'crisis'. He is willing to show the public what his solutions are in front of the whole world by debating McCain on friday.

The unfortunate thing is that this is only a crisis because people have not paid attention to the concerns for the last 10 years. It's like not brushing your teeth and having a 'crisis' because you have a bad cavity that needs root canal. How many more 'root canals' do we need to finally understand that Bush's policies are not working? McCain is clueless and bi-polar. He calls himself a maverick because he couldn't beat Bush. He says he puts country first, yet he doesn't want to address the country.

To the people that say that if there was an attack today, we would call McCain's act respectful. Not true. When 9/11 happened, Bush addressed the country the same day. It would be perfectly fitting that a President-hopeful addresses the country- in this situation, via a debate.

I can't believe the crap that McCain is pulling.. he is not even in the meetings for the cirsis discussion.. he is just hanging around..Unreall..and for him to decide to postpone the campaign and debate with out talking to Obama about it.. can we say dictatorship.. he will do as he pleases with out consideration of anyone else.. there are a lot of companies that will lose out if the debates don't go on.. he can be in washington to sit out side the door and then fly to mississippi to debate and fly back.. seriouisly...

Any republicans supporting him are blind.. do you want to know what he did wrong.. 1. made a shot from the hip move with out the consideration of talking about what he will do with obama.. 2. Decides that he will not to the debate and put everyone else off .. why does he get to decide everyone else fate.. people want to hear what he has to say..

And for everyone saying that if this were a terrorist attack , we would be looking at this different.. yes.. but it is not.. it is something completely different.. a serious issue non the less. but completely different in the sense that there are already tons of people working on a plan to get us out of this..

McCain flying in on the 11th hour to give his input is not neccesary..it just causes problems.. You people need to find out how it really works before you go praising McCain for putting country first.. ..please..he could be sitting home knitting..because he is not doing anything else.. Wake up.. you simple minded people... he is playing on your single mentality of patriotism.. and pulling at your heart strings.. wake up!! Please wake up!!!

Give me a break hillary supporters flip flopping over to support McCain't/Palin! You look pretty dumb if you're voting for Palin only because you want a vagina in office. It took her 6 colleges to earn one degree. We'll have our turn in office- I want a woman in office too soon, I voted for Hillary also- but I realize the economy and my family's well-being is at risk. Obama all the way!!!!!!!!!!

More whining from the left wing bloggers. Perhaps Joe forgets that he is one the senators who got us into this mess and has an obligation to get us out. Of course, no democrat would ever take responsibiilty for anything bad so I really don't expect that. Keep whining and pandering and I'll keeping working hard to pay your mortgage, child care, child education and health costs.

it's sad how mccain supporters claim he was putting country first when he first started out to say that the fundamentals of our economy are strong. why does he all of a sudden want to care about the crisis we face when he never cared in the first place? he is a fraud! just like his ugly, pitbull palin! if mccain wanted to put his country first, he would have stopped campaigning a long time ago and now he claims he cares. i dont think so! this man needs to understand a crisis before trying to step in and handle one! i will vote obama!

If McCain doesn't show up to the debate, you've got him beat Obama:

Hold a national town hall meeting, sure, but not only that...pay for it, so the school doesn't take it on the chin as a result of McCain's arrogant attempt to play politcal games.

McCain has turned the economic future of america into a political sideshow. he is looking for a whitehorse moment whilst avoiding speaking about real issues. when are you folks going to pull back the curtain to see the fraud that this campaign is?

To you voters praising Mc Cain and saying you will vote for him, I am going to be laughing my butt off, when you end up broke, and destitute living in the alley in a cardboard box.... hahahahahaha Or when you are sending your kids/grandkids off on a plane to the war zone in either, Iraq, Afgahnistan, Russia, and then meeting the plane bringing that same soul home in a body bag filled with shrapnel. You are the ones responsible for the Country being in the mess it is now. For voting Bush for 8 years!!!

McCain has a plan for this crisis. Where is Obama's?

Biden always says the same thing. The other guy's plan is notable for what it is lacking. Hey Joe, no plan is lacking everything!

Why should we listen to a person whose latest gaff is that FDR spoke to the country on TV during the 1929 stock market crash? FDR was not the president in 1929 and commercial TV didn't start until after his death. Well, what can we expect from a person caught plagiarizing part of a speech in the 1988 presidential compaign.

McCain sat silently throughout the meeting and at the end, spoke for only 2 minutes,..which was meaningless.

This man is there for a PHOTO OP and nothing else. He wants the credit. He's a liar and a coward.

putting off the debate does not mean mccain is a leader. it tells me that he really does not want to be our president. the future president is going to be Important to this issue and if he doesnt get the votes he wont ever be able to lead this country the way he claims he wants to lead it. let him take off of his campaining, obama will do a better job anyway.

Compare this speech with Palin's dissertation of her neighborhood with Russia and Canada and it's loud and clear who the more competent VP should be. Say what you will about Biden's gaffes, he's got more smarts and experience than Palin any day. This is what a VP should be doing and saying. For every step McCain tries to take forward, she pulls him back with her neophyte, to borrow a McCain word, hyperbole.

John McCain has no honor left and any neocon repug that uses, supports or actually believes the argument that he's putting country first by parachuting into the bailout talks and "suspending" his campaign has none left either.

Give Congress some credit! They are making sure we are all covered.
I think this is what Obama is doing, trusting that tax payers will be ok.
McCain is really just a joke with all this jumps...he is actually obstructing this concens.
Leadership is not just to shout out that he will safe us all, but trust the people around you (which is not being selfish, as someone noted in this blog)
Country first, yes! But please wake up and see the global reality we live in. Read...do not watch a movie, I repeat read a little bit of history, worry about what really is happening away from here as well.
This is not an isolated issue, there's a lot more to it.
I feel safe with an inteligent and calm person who everybody can talk to, that's Obama.
We need peace in order to move forward, not war!

bet McCain wishes he had picked Mitt Romney Now. At least he would have a more solid position on being able to say it's the Economy, Stupid.

Advice to McCain,,,, drop Sarah Palin… say it was a Joke and get Mitt back on your ticket.
Romney - Economy
McCain-Foreign Affairs

At least Barack picked someone who balanced his ticket.
Obama - Economy/Leadership
Biden - Foreign Affairs/US Affairs

In this day.. this would have been one heck of a match up.
But… My vote, funds and support will go to
OBAMA/BIDEN

No McCain/Palin

When the Nation is facing a Crisis such as the economic crisis, do we really want a individual who already holds a Senate seat in our Government, who when duty calls say's " I'll go back if they need me". Where is the leader ship in that, Obama?
Obama has shown his support for our troops! When our troops were expecting a visit from him on one of his overseas tours, he canceled the visit because he thought it was more important to go to the gym for a workout!
Why is it that the best candidates that the democrats can bring forth have been draft dodgers or a person who clearly despises our military, our troops, and our country?
Clinton was a draft dodger sold out our military, robbed the Social Security Bank and then declared that he balanced the budget! How can you have a balanced budget when you have an I.O.U. staring you straight in the face? I would challenge anyone to show me a balanced budget, with that kind of book keeping!
John McCain and especially his running mate Sarah Palin have stepped on the toes of some lofty individuals, that is the reason the democrats are playing dirty pool!
Obama and the whole Democratic Party have stated that health care is a major issue in this election, however they can't tell when life begins, are fitting to keep the legalized murder of the most innocent and most vulnerable of us all, but on the other hand they care so much about you and me!
It's time to wake up AMERICA!!!!

OH PUH-LEEZE... enough with shoving this false patriotism down people's throats! My husband has served in Afghanistan and Iraq and we are voting for OBANA! What obama is doing is called LEADERSHIP - any COMPETENT leader knows when to stay out of the way of his team and let them get their work done. This is McCain's Hail Mary; he is just flailing around like a fish just pulled out of the water. This stunt is going to back-fire, because he will look like a chicken who is afraid to face Obama in the debates. And don't believe his lies about suspending his campaign.. it is still going full bore. His ads are still running on the airwaves and his mouthpieces are still chattering. This is just more two faced theatrics by McCain and his camp.

Obama is smarter than McCain and Palin combined. Most importantly, he's ready to lead our Country out of this mess we find ourselves in. It is mind boggling how supposedly intelligent people making well under $250,000 annually are voting for McCain. Talk about cutting off your nose in spite of you face... What gives?
