Palin answered some questions from the traveling press corps, her first time doing so.

NEW YORK (CNN) — Sarah Palin took questions from her traveling press corps Thursday for the first time since being tapped as John McCain's running mate.

Watch: Gov. Palin's first press availability as a vice presidential candidate

Speaking to a small pool of reporters following a visit to Ground Zero in lower Manhattan, Palin made a statement and then answered four questions, addressing the war on terror, the re-election bids of Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens and Rep. Don Young, and the bailout legislation currently in front of Congress.

Check out the transcript after the jump

PALIN: Every American student needs to come through this area so that, especially this younger generation of Americans is, to be in a position of never forgetting what happened here and never repeating, never allowing a repeat of what happened here. I wish every American would come through here. I wish every world leader would come through here, and understand what it is that took place here and more importantly how America came together and united to commit to never allowing this to happen again. And just to hear and from and see these good New Yorkers who are rebuilding not just this are but helping to rebuild America has been very, very inspiring and encouraging. These are the good Americans who are committed to peace and security and its been an absolute honor getting to meet these folks today.

CNN: On the topic of never letting this happen again, do you agree with the way the Bush administration has handled the war on terrorism, is there anything you would do differently?

A: I agree with the Bush administration that we take the fight to them. We never again let them come onto our soil and try to destroy not only our democracy, but communities like the community of New York. Never again. So yes, I do agree with taking the fight to the terrorists and stopping them over there.

POLITICO: Do you think our presence in Iraq and afghan and our continued presence there is inflaming islamic extremists?

A: I think our presence in Iraq and Afghanistan will lead to further security of our nation, again, because the mission is to take the fight over there. do not let them come over here and attempt again what they accomplished here, and that was some destruction. terrible destruction on that day. but since September 11, Americans uniting and rebuilding and committing to never letting that happen again.

POLITICO: Do you support the reelection bids of embattled Alaska Republicans, Rep. Don Young and Sen. Ted Stevens?

A: Ted Stevens trial started a couple days ago. We’ll see where that goes.

POLITICO: Are you gong to vote for them?

[no answer.]

JERSEY JOURNAL: What do you think of bailout package before congress?

A: I don't support that until the provisions that Sen. McCain has offered are implemented in Paulson's proposals.

If I wanted to see a further demise of the USA, I'd gladly vote for McPalin, but personally, I am looking forward to a long life here and I'd like my children to have a national history that they can be proud of. All GOP clowns should take this opportunity to exit stage left…

Paul Dobro   September 25th, 2008 12:50 pm ET

I agree with Cambpell Brown, it is a sexist they way the McCain camp treats her.

Can't she state her own feelings on issues instead of just saying "what ever John McCain says".

Are ready for war with Iran? If you do, McCain/Palin is your ticket.

AMERICAN   September 25th, 2008 12:50 pm ET

She answers questions just like the beauty pageant contestent she is, smiling to the camera and that dumb waving of the hand.

Palin is an empty suit with a pageant crown…and repugs are regreting thier choice.

The King of Vegetables   September 25th, 2008 12:50 pm ET

Anyone who is impressed with Palin needs to do some more thinking. Read this sentence out loud.

"I think our presence in Iraq and Afghanistan will lead to further security of our nation, again, because the mission is to take the fight over there. do not let them come over here and attempt again what they accomplished here, and that was some destruction terrible destruction on that day. but since September 11, Americans uniting and rebuilding and committing to never letting that happen again."

She has been thinking about this for weeks now and consulting with the best minds McCain could find, and this is the best she can offer.

How long, O America, will you fall for this crap?

I listen, I try to be positive, I watch, I try to give her the benefit of any doubt that I might have. I am sorry to say this woman is not ready to be VP of the United States & anyone that thinks she is has no idea of what they are talking about…I do not care if she is the Gov. of Alaska & a previous Mayor, & how much executive experience she says she has that does not make her qualified to be VP….and anyone that can see or hear should know better, this woman maybe smart & be a good Gov. but she is not suited or qualified for the VP slot…

community of new york - lol.

do you realize sarah that we are spread so thin because we 'took the battle over there' instead of here, that we more than likely cannot defend ourselves in our own soil if anything God forbid happens?

by the way, iraq had nothing to do with what happened on 911.
it is bush's war, his way alone. unfortunately, we pay for it by the billions a day.

Farrell, Houston, Tx   September 25th, 2008 12:49 pm ET

Palin like Bush and McCain still didn't get the message on taking the fight to "them". Iraq isn't the "them" who attacked us as Palin opens her mouth unintelligently and proves she is no quick study on foreign policies and these weren't tough questions. McCain and Palin both are poorly educated and unqualified to run our country, we've got enough problems without them.

Shandra Michigan   September 25th, 2008 12:49 pm ET

I'm an Obama supporter but I love this woman. I think she's intelligent, personable, loveable, and has a fantastic ability to understand this complicated system.

Don't care what y'all think. I think she's fantastic, just wish she was on Obamas side.

I have always cringed, and been afraid to travel overseas, since the first time I heard the Republicans use the term "fight them over there and not here." I'm sure our friends in Spain, France, the UK, and elsewhere, to whom the fight has been taken by the terrorists, scarcely appreciate our cowardly and selfish perspective. Maybe it goes along with all the other reasons the world is crazy angry with us.

McCain for Pres. ?? if she is so smart how come she can not answer any of the questions asked without sounding like she has not got an education? I have only a 2 year college degree that by the way took 1 college and 2 years to get raising 3 kids and working a full time job and I can answer questions asked without this kind of problem. "Suspend your canidacy", "Economy is fundamentally strong", V.P. pick, " I walked the streets of Iraq withouth troop support", Fought to deregulate wall street, Supported Iraq war, Keating 5, Furiously faught an MLK holiday, Numerous angry outburst! if we as a nation, put this woman a heart beat away from the presidency, then only God can save us all, for we will beome the laughing stoke for the rest of the world. watching her speak and reading her transcripts explains why the McCain campaign is creating all this drama so they can postpone the debate. Even my five year old daughter is more coherent with the English language than this woman. she is even worse the Bush.

roger dowdle, lockhart, Tx   September 25th, 2008 12:47 pm ET

And this is somebody who is supposed to be ready to lead? Notice she fails to discuss any of her answers- maybe because she is clueless!?!? All she does is essentially rephrase the question and say yes or no!

Sarah   September 25th, 2008 12:47 pm ET

She is naiive…
Whenever she answer a question, she looks stupid:
She said we should fight Russia if it attacked its neighbour Georgia
She could not answer a question this morning on the role of the lobbiest who is heading her campaign…

Mitt Romney could have been a much better choice. Now I have to vote Obama/ Biden

Dana   September 25th, 2008 12:47 pm ET

You know what- I have been to Ground Zero, being a New Yorker I remember it before it was "Ground Zero", I almost lost my brother on 9/11, and we all watched as we lost thousands of innocent men, women and service members.
I have also watched as people have basterdized the memory of 9/11 and its victims as a Political ploy- the video showed at the RNC turned my stomach. We SHOULD remember those victims, and we SHOULD remember the lessons learned in that day… but we shouldn't use it as a ploy for Politics- that is just disgraceful. 9/11 has been used as the excuse for the war in Iraq, has been used to incite fear in the American people…I am glad she went to see Ground Zero but as usual with Republicans she has completely missed the point.
How about -why has no monument been erected yet- oh b/c of corporate BS…how about why are their fire fighters and police men who are not receiving proper care and are suffering with ailments caused my the recovery efforts durring 9/11.
I am so SICK of Republicans using 9/11 as "their cause"- Please just stop!!! You want to go to war, you want more people to die that is your own cause, but do not piggy back it on the tragedy of 9/11… those families have suffered enough!!!

NEWSFLASH to Sarah Palin- Our presence in Iraq has only further threatened the US as well as neighboring countries and caused further expansion of Terrorist regimes… so wrong answer!!!

Obama/Biden 08 Change we need!!

Darrel from Denver   September 25th, 2008 12:47 pm ET

Continuation of the Bush doctrine. Take the fight to them, wherever that may be, and take the fight to anyone we think may be thinking about whatever it is we think they should not be thinking about.

I suppose this means then that we are getting ready to invade Iran, N Korea, Spain, Russia, and who knows where else.

We are going to have to implement a draft if we are to the the world's policemen and their holy crusaders.

Ricardo Phillips of Washington D.C   September 25th, 2008 12:47 pm ET

I would have to say to all instead of bailing out Wall Street try bailing out the American people. From my calculations 700 Billion Dollars could relieve 140,000,000 American families of their debts by $5,000.00 per household. Try that figure instead.

Informed and Educated?   September 25th, 2008 12:47 pm ET

Sarah Palin has an below-average education and her lack of life experience is evident in the way she speaks. With all due respect, intellectual capacity is much more imortant that experience. People who started Google, Apple, MS, etc. did not have great experience. They were smart.

Dan   September 25th, 2008 12:47 pm ET

She can't handle even the simplest of questions without a "Miss America" type answer. Come on folks, we need an intelligent person that knows our political system and is up on current affairs. She doesn't have a clue. And it's not her fault. The Republican Party is responsible for choosing her with her lack of wit and a trail of dirt a mile long.

Misha   September 25th, 2008 12:47 pm ET

"take the fight over there" ? For your information Sarah, these same people you call TERRORISTS where strong allies with America when Afghanistan was invaded by the Russians. But, now they are TERRORISTS because of failed policies of our administration. An unjust war is no war at all. These crazy terrorists are attacking america because of our troops till present in their lands and killing civilians and innocent people. what kind of War propaganda are you advocating?

ANCHORAGE, Alaska– An Anchorage Democratic Representative wants the Alaska State Troopers to find out if laws are being broken by anyone attempting to convince witnesses not to testify in an inquiry of Gov. Sarah Palin.

It's the latest allegation in what has become a bitter dispute between the Palin administration and the Legislature, something the McCain-Palin campaign calls an absurd political maneuver.

WOW! FOUR WHOLE QUESTIONS!

I cannot believe this person is a serious candidate to the vice presidency of the United States. It absolutely shocks and boggles my mind. It honestly goes to show that McCain is an impulsive, shoot-from-the-hip decision maker.

Do we really want another D-student running our country? Look at the last one did to this great country. They've virtually collapsed the government!

May God save us from McCain and Palin!

Stop exploiting 911!   September 25th, 2008 12:45 pm ET

If it is so important for every American and every world leader to go to Ground Zero, why didn't she go to Ground Zero the other time she was in New York? I resent Sarah Palin for exploiting my fellow New Yorkers' deaths on that tragic day.

duane   September 25th, 2008 12:45 pm ET

As president, neither candidate can do the things they're promising. Congress makes all laws. The President can only make suggestions to Congress. Since both candidates are currently in a position to do something about our problems, neither bimbo had done anything about them.

If you want a promotion in industry, it is important that you do your current job first. At least McCain is returning to Washington to work the problem. Obama says he doesn't need to? If he won't do his current job, what kind of a president would he make?
How about NO President for the next 4 years since both candidates are worthless.

Donna from Colorado Springs   September 25th, 2008 12:45 pm ET

I wonder when McCain had the time to coach her in answering the reporters questions? He seems to be so busy saving the world right now! What arrogance to think that HE will be the deciding vote on the bail;out vote! He might sway some of his republican cronies to vote one way or another, but he is not the GREAT DECIDER as he thinks he is. He is so full of himself and thinks he's so important! Can't you just picture him with a cape waving behind him, flying into Washington to save the day?????????????????? Give me a break! The only reason he is pulling this stunt is to give himself more time to come up with even more lies and distortions about Obama during the debate. I don't expect him to even show up at all. He will pull a McCain temper tantrum and show the world what he's really like! David Letterman finally realizes what a liar he is! He cancelled his show saying he had to get back to the capital, yet he had time to talk to Katie Couric! Such honesty we're seeing in him! He's losing and he cannot stand it! He will go to any lengths to draw attention away from Obama and towards him! He's a sad pathetic old man who is out of touch and should not be in any position of leadership right now. The country is finally waking up to this fact.

enough is enough Dallas, TX   September 25th, 2008 12:45 pm ET

This woman is clueless! No wonder McCain wants to postpone her debate with Biden!!! She is not able to answer questions with any type of substance. She grins and answeres with her typical memorized stump lines. Just like she did with the Couric intervie…she repeated her answer twice using the exact words! She is so scripted! Bless her heart…she is way over her head and she needs to go back to Wasilla…she does not belong on this national political stage…McCain was drowning and grasping for air when he chose her as his vp!!! Anyone who watches the news or reads could answer in the same generic way (actually many of us would be more knowledgeable!).. She is a joke! So is McCain! He is just as incapabable of making a clear concise comment beyond his political b…s…! He does not want to debate Obama despite all his whining about wanting to have these town hall debates. He would have postponed those as well. He is such a loser…a sore loser. Why would anyone in their right mind vote for these two republican idiots?

Chuck   September 25th, 2008 12:45 pm ET

Well. she fails again.

Fight them over there so we don't have to fight them here". As with Bush and McCain Palin has no understanding of the terrorists organizations who love having us fight them over there so they don't have to fight us here. Why? They have a paid for by the U.S. battle ground in Iraq to use to train new recruits. They can blend in withthe population over there making it difficult for our troops to determine who they are fighting and who they are not. They do not have extended supply lines by fighting over there and can rearm themselves at will by way of Iran, Syria and others. They can take pot shots at and kil Amercians (the troops) without having to bother with a strategy to cross U.S. borders and they can do so at will, rest awahile, and then come mout of thw wood work to attack our troops again. They can use Iraq and Afghanistan to garner world support and sympathy when innocents become the victims of errant U.S. bombings. There are so many reasons why the terrorists (and insurgents) would rather fight us over there rather than here it is truly elementary. But Palin uses that same typical BS line from Bush and McCain, fight them there so we don't have to fight them here, it clearly shows she is a robot totuing Bush and McCain talking points who understands nothing about the war against terrorism.

Sounds like she running for Miss America and NOT an offical office. Maybe this flys in Alaska but NOT in the lower 48!!! WE are educated beyond high school and want intellegence in our White House, not a beauty queen!!! Her kids are ALL high school drop outs and maybe thats the way they do it in Alaska but NOT in the lower 48.

Susan from Scotts Valley, CA   September 25th, 2008 12:44 pm ET

It wouldn't be so bad that she has such a weak educational background - not all intelligent people go to college. And it wouldn't be so bad if she that her experience is so weak - some people are wise beyond their resume. But she is neither intelligent or wise. This is a huge joke and I can't believe that she's made it as far as she has and that she might be a heartbeat away from the Presidency.

C a r o l   September 25th, 2008 12:44 pm ET

I believe Sarah is right in avoiding the press ( if indeed she is) because the press is trying to trip her up any way they can so that the Dems come out in the lead. Sarah is a far better VP candidate than old joe ( with his feet in his mouth) any day. She has the experience and will handle anything thrown at her. However, because she is a woman, she is being subjected to a sexiest bias and a more stringent scrutiny than joe. She is being held to aq different level of attention. How she looks, what she says, her family, her job as govenor, her experience, etc., etc. On the other hand - Joe Biden, who cares what he looks like, how often his foot is in his mouth, his family, his job - how long he's been in the senate - ( ???? what's he done in that time?), etc., etc. Sarah will step out and up to the plate when the time is right. This may not be when the media would like, but soooo what! Get over it. GO SARAH

Terrell of Escondido Ca.   September 25th, 2008 12:44 pm ET

As A Democrat and an Obama supporter, I want to thank Mrs. Palin for once again demonstrating that she as well as John McCaine are still adhering to the " Bush Stay The Course Mentality " As we continue to pour Billions of dollars into Bush's war even as our country drowns in an economic cesspool. The terroist mentality from the beginning was not to defeat us militarily, But to play to the cowboy " Bring it On" mentality of Bush and McCaine and simply Bankrupt us. They are succeeding.

Rudy NYC   September 25th, 2008 12:44 pm ET

That wasn't Palin. It was Tina Fey.

Jonathan   September 25th, 2008 12:44 pm ET

I'm not some nut job liberal nor am I some crazy conservative, but if you read her anwers to the questions, the only question she actually answered was the first one. You can be the most ardent conservative, but if you try to defend her answers to the last three questions then you're just playing the same old partisan games; where in your head you know she didn't answer the questions but from your mouth you defend the answers simply based on party.

Jake145   September 25th, 2008 12:44 pm ET

VIRGINIAN 4 OBAMA   September 25th, 2008 12:43 pm ET

She agrees with with Bush on a war that should have never been waged in the first place. And I don't appreciate her being in my hometown suggesting that we don't want people to forget what happened here. Duh! The whole world saw what happened on 9/11/01. People in Wasilla are probably the only ones who didn't get the memo. Use your scripted, prepped answers until the debate bozo. YOU ARE DISQUALIFIED!!!!

Here's the problem. The terrorists weren't in Iraq you clueless bimrobot. Second, you are clueless and NO amount of cliff notes, cramming sessions and speed dating with all the leaders of the world will ever get you ready because I believe you lack the fundamentals of INTELLIGENCE. And I also can't wait for the republican senator to come out and tell us that mccain is in the beginning stages of dementia which I am positive he has in the early stages.

Meritocracy ... Not The Sweathogs.   September 25th, 2008 12:43 pm ET

Americans need to be careful and not fall for the okie dokearound John McCain and Sarah Palin.

This woman's image and performance to date have been so bad that it is resulting in LOWERED EXPECTATIONS from the VP debate or any interaction with the Press.

Don't buy into that folks. We don't grade on a curve when it comes to the Presidency.

I expect to hold Ms. Palin to the typically tougher standards that every minority or woman executive hasto meet. Now is not the time to elect the "Sweathogs".

Ryan   September 25th, 2008 12:43 pm ET

So she wouldn't do anything differently for the war on terror?!?!

Oh and it's amazing that she is claiming she won't support the bailout until "the provisions that Sen. McCain has offered are implemented".. last I checked, Obama has been saying those same things for longer and they released a JOINT statement.

McCain for Pres.   September 25th, 2008 12:43 pm ET

While reading the comments, I thought they were talking about Barack Obama for a moment until I realized that they were his followers. What a joke this is getting to be. Your candidate is running for President and he has less experience than Sarah Palin.

Cathy   September 25th, 2008 12:43 pm ET

McCain for Pres.

….I can only conlude from comment, that you haven't seen Palin's interview with Katie Couric. Palin is failing miserably to be qualified for VP, let a lone a heartbeat away from Presidency. Even Laura Bush agrees, Palin doesn't have enough foreign policy experience.

Immigrant !   September 25th, 2008 12:43 pm ET

Interesting! Is it just me or she repeating the answers.
Next question—–> What are Mccain's proposals?
Answer——> uuummmm ummmm its a secret!

STEVE   September 25th, 2008 12:42 pm ET

I THINK SHE ANSWERED THE QUESTION ON TERRORISM FULLY AND TRUTHFULLY JUST THE WAY 90 PERCENT OF REAL AMERICANS WOULD HAVE. ON THE REELECTION OF THE TWO THIEVES FROM ALASKA I WOULDN'T HAVE ANSWERED EITHER, ITS A LEADING QUESTION BECAUSE EITHER WAY YOU ANSWER THESE SO CALLED REPORTERS WOULD HAVE BEEN ALL OVER HER ANSWER. THE PACKAGE IS WHAT IT IS, NOT THERE YET, WHY COMMENT.

RM   September 25th, 2008 12:42 pm ET

So she agrees with the Bush administration. Take the fight to them, even when they are not fighting us as was the case with Iraq. "Our presence in Iraq will lead to further security of our nation." How?

What she is saying is dangerous and overly simple. She fails to understand the dynamics of international relations, and the dynamics of other people. She also fails to understand the ethical dimensions of using the military in this way. This is unlimited war to create a diversion so that terrorists will attack American soldiers. Palin's world view: us versus them.

We've heard this befroe.

Mike - Texas   September 25th, 2008 12:42 pm ET

This is her 2nd time.

The thing that really scares me is that if Nobama is elected and the democrats have control of both the house AND the senate then this country is heading for DISASTER!!!!!

Think about it for a moment America.

This countRy went to pot AFTER the democrats took of both houses of congress. The do nothing democratically led congress has an approval rating on ONLY 9%.

The banking committee is led by the democrats.
The SEC is led by the democrats.
2 of Nobamas finacial advisors came from 2 of those FAILED banking institutions, and they made MILLIONs.

Kansasboy   September 25th, 2008 12:42 pm ET

The questions were asked…. where were the answers?

Bruce   September 25th, 2008 12:42 pm ET

Nice to see she has learned how to answer questions. Too bad te questions were stupid. Just what answer did they expect when they asked her if she supported the WAR? Please stop asking stupid quetions that require the ONLY ANSWER IS already known. That just wasts time that could have been used to ask a good question. Note she used the same answer to two questions and the answer she gave really did not answer either question but no one asked for a follow up. Too Bad she got away again.

Fritz   September 25th, 2008 12:42 pm ET

The approach of "fight them over there" reminds me of a guy I used to work with. We had an office in an developing economy and a pretty messy corporate apartment. My colleague used to always put out a bowl of ice cream in the kitchen of the corporate apartment when he went to bed. His theory was that all the roaches would go to the ice cream. He always wondered why that corporate apartment had more roaches than any other apartment in the building.

Four questions…

First two, same answer…. "take it to them. Bush was right…war..war…war."

Third question… answer: No comment
Fourth question… answer: "What McCain said."

Boy, I have a better understanding of everything now.

Pam   September 25th, 2008 12:41 pm ET

This woman is not qualified for the role. Anyone, man or woman, in their right mind can see that. This is what you get when you choose to pander to the far right and the RNC. No substance, no quality, only someone who tries to memorize a line.

Obama was not my first choice but he certainly is now. I want a strong leader and yes, one who can MULTI-TASK the difficult situations this country faces on a DAILY basis. That is the job description. If you are not fit, if your VP choice is not fit, then you shouldn't run. John McCain made a huge mistake here though I am still not convinced that he alone chose Palin.

It is time for change and all of you right wing nutjobs can take your medicine now or leave. We'll fix the country with or without you!

Independent but Leaning   September 25th, 2008 12:41 pm ET

It's good to see Palin out and about.

Obama: Wait, you can't postpose the debate a few days to deal with a national crisis… I've crammed all week for this debate and I am due to hear myself talk!

Obama = self-absorbed joke who would prefer to run for office than go to do DC and do the job he was elected to do.

Shari, NY   September 25th, 2008 12:41 pm ET

These answers are not compelling. Actually there was no answer to one question. I guess she was propped up for these four questions because of the criticism of the photo op whirlwind meeting with world leaders who basically checked her out at her and beamed with admiration. Sorry, I am a woman too!

OBUMMER   September 25th, 2008 12:41 pm ET

I know you all will laugh, but mark my words…it's over for Obama. I can pratically guarantee you this, but it's over for the O. Go ahead and start the process to get Hillary for 2012. Barry's going back to IL in January.

News flash!!!

The limited questions and the new McCain interest in the economy has been unearthed for its purpose.

Amazon has confirmed that both have ordered
"Economics For Dummies"

and are hard at thier reading and studying before they answer pre-prepped questions from the pre-prepped press corps.

BTW John, think youll be ready for Friday debate?
Or do you need more time?

Jozee   September 25th, 2008 12:41 pm ET

It's a little too late to try to add some normalcy to this floundering campaign. Had they treated Ms. Palin as a real politician, who the public knew little about, and allowed her to take questions and speak to the media, they would not be in meltdown mode now.

Palin/McCain—–both not ready for prime time and certainly not ready to lead.

OBAMA/BIDEN - The only choice in this election.

TRBoston   September 25th, 2008 12:41 pm ET

Laura, Boston   September 25th, 2008 12:41 pm ET

Great answers Sarah! She can definitely hold her own. I hope the McCain campaign will let her speak out more often.

I only hope that the MSM (including CNN) will be more unbiased in its nightly reporting. I have started watching FOX News since (believe it or not) they present both sides to each arguement. That is what has been missing with MSNBC and some on CNN.

But again, GREAT JOB SARAH!!!

McCain/Palin '08

RG, Tampa, FL   September 25th, 2008 12:41 pm ET

Hey "McCain for Pres." - we'd listen to her if she actually SAID anything. Her transcript is above. She says NOTHING. She has NOTHING TO SAY. There's nothing to twist and nothing to ignore. Why the hell do you think she deserves anything other than a good grilling? She wants to be VP, right? She should be scrutinized right down to the last firing scandal.

Deb   September 25th, 2008 12:41 pm ET

Wow…permission was granted so that she could answer four whole questions? This is ridiculous…while running for office especially vice president of the united states you should talk to all reporters and answer any and all questions. We, the people, need to know.

Jorge Villegas   September 25th, 2008 12:41 pm ET

Scary to think this woman has a chance to be President.

maeve   September 25th, 2008 12:41 pm ET

Simplistic thinking shown here from the-candidate-for-the-second-highest-office-in-the-land Palin. Even my 10 year old grandchild would have offered more depth.

And, does this woman have a problem with repeating the same lines over and over again, or what?

Republican Woman for Obama   September 25th, 2008 12:41 pm ET

If "Ol' Cut and Run" has seddadled, does that mean Palin will be debating Obama? Good fun.

Cathy in MD   September 25th, 2008 12:40 pm ET

Sarah Palin should be a guest on David Letterman. Maybe she could explain what’s eating John McCain. I think it’s Sarah Palin and the conservative base. McCain has looked uncomfortable from the moment she was air-lifted into this disaster area he calls a campaign. And, talking about cancellations … Why hasn't anyone brought up the option of having McCain hang around Washington D.C. but still be part of the debate … via satellite? Obama did quite well addressing the CGI in NY while he was in FL. Amazing technology out there. It's 2008. You don't need a stamp to mail a letter. Wouldn't that resolve McCain’s scheduling conflict?

Ian in Boulder CO   September 25th, 2008 12:40 pm ET

Ok it is now official - she IS as dumb as was feared… Great VP choice Sen McCain. The nation thanks you.

Matt   September 25th, 2008 12:40 pm ET

What a joke… You can tell from her statement that she made that her worldview is incredibly small. Then there is the her 'answering' the questions. Two of the answers are exactly the same and then she didn't answer the questions from Politico. The last question pretty much shows she has no idea what is going on with the bailout.

It's scary to think that this women could be very close to the presidency.

Randy Johnson   September 25th, 2008 12:40 pm ET

Just heard another few stories today on CNN about how Palin is not giving the press access. If CNN wants access, start covering Joe Biden when he gives a press conference or interview—today CNN said he's given dozens. But who would know? Are they covered ? NO! Every night we hear 3 minutes on McCain, 3 minutes on Obama, then 3 minutes on Palin (she can campaign alone, she can speak alone, she can meet dignitaries without an audio track)—and then we hear 3 minutes on Biden, right? NO! The Republicans get their 6 minutes to the Democrats 3 as far as the candidates are concerned. Stop lavishing all this on Palin and give Biden's interviews or news conferences the play. Report that Palin gave the same speech somewhere else and move on. Why did McCain choose her? Why doesn't she speak to the press? Why is he canceling a debate? It's election by marketing!

Marvel   September 25th, 2008 12:40 pm ET

What questions? I didnt see anything hard that she had to answer but then again the McLAME camp wont let their little baby answer tough questions now will they. The best thing for them to have done was for Mclame to go to washington ( as if he's going to be of any help anyways ) and let Palin run the camp since she's "so ready" for the job. im disgusted with the republicans as an independent.

Wow   September 25th, 2008 12:40 pm ET

I don't want that woman representing my country. At least Cheney commands respect.

Alex, USMC   September 25th, 2008 12:40 pm ET

Hey! Look at that. She answered some questions. Good to know that she's tough enough to answer…not a single question about the many, many things she needs to answer.

I blame the reporters following her for playing such a ridiculous game of slow-pitch softball with their questions. Where are the things that Americans need to know?

Hannah, NH   September 25th, 2008 12:40 pm ET

The bright lights of the press are blinding. I wonder if she regrets not blinking.

Jude   September 25th, 2008 12:40 pm ET

Umm…i don't think this qualifies for VP.

Barbara   September 25th, 2008 12:39 pm ET

Just as I thought Another Bush Follower. I don't think we can afford another four more years of this. Besides I don't think McCain or Her would make a good President. If he didn't want to debate Obama why didn"t he send her. If she suppose to fill in since she would be his second in command. Of course he doesn't want her to speak. Wonder why that is. IS it because he knows that she isn't qualified. They both pretend to represent us, but they really don't care. Well I voted for Republicans in the primary, but I'm not come NOV. It will be OBama.

Roro   September 25th, 2008 12:39 pm ET

Also, I wonder if she know what the provisions supposed offered by McCain are and their implications.

Judy Howard   September 25th, 2008 12:39 pm ET

And folks trust this woman to be a hair strand away from the Presidency!?? OMG! I'm scared too death.

Sad. Very sad.

Same old strategy from Bush era.
Our presence in Iraq has only inflamed extremist ideology. We're no safer. We made the target on us a bigger, brighter red.

Thank you Gov. Palin. I now have a much better understanding of who you are and how you think. And you have completely answered any questions I may have had about your knowledge and ability to be VP or President of the United States.

John   September 25th, 2008 12:39 pm ET

Maybe it's just the nerves, but she doesn't seem to have very good control of the English Language. As far as her stance on "taking the fight to the terrorists", I think the American people are getting sick of this endless war for nothing. Yes, find Bin Laden and bring him to justice, but you can fight a war against an invisible enemy.

She sounds more like a Parrot with Lipstick rather than a Pittbull.

and the "Community" of New York?!

Leah,Texas   September 25th, 2008 12:39 pm ET

So basically she didn't really answer any questions - she just spewed out talking points from the McCain campaign.

Wake up America!

I thought McCain AND Palin suspended their campaigns. There they go lying again! And is it just me, but does she not ever really answer anything in her answers?

[no answer]

You might as well fill in that response to all these questions, if you edit out the BS.

Happy now Campbell?

Hank   September 25th, 2008 12:38 pm ET

Wow. Reading those words….it's so disjointed. She stumbles around looking for the right thing to say, not what she is thinking. She wears a mask.

James from Canada   September 25th, 2008 12:38 pm ET

What are those proposals that McCain wants implemented, This lady knows nothing and neither does McCain. If America elects these 2 the world will be in a great deal of hurt. Far worse then todays mess.

"I agree with the Bush administration that we take the fight to them."

ENOUGH SAID!!!!!

She agrees with the Bush Admin. going into Iraq. Iraq was not the battleground………………………WMD……………………..NOT!!!!!

A vote for Mc-no-debate/Palin is a vote for the Bush Administration policies.

Our economy cannot handle that.

She just does not have an original thought on the issues. She is so scripted it is sad and sexist that the McCain campaign will not allow her to say anything of any substance. She has shown she has had plenty to say in the past…..why the gag order all the time? Are they really that distrustful or her intellect? I sure hope not she could possibly be the second most powerful person in our government.
