Despite his illness, Sen. Kennedy traveled to Denver last month and addressed the Democratic National Convention.
(CNN) — Sen. Ted Kennedy has been hospitalized in Cape Cod following a 911 call, a local police spokesman said Friday. Hyannis Port Fire Department sent a rescue squad to Kennedy's home to take him to the hospital, Sgt. Ben Baxter of Barnstable Police Department told CNN. Kennedy was described as alert and conscious when the emergency team arrived, Baxter said. A Democratic source said Kennedy's condition was not life-threatening. The Massachusetts Democrat had surgery for a brain tumor in June and has made only a handful of appearances since then, including a triumphal speech on the first night of the Democratic National Convention last month. Kennedy, 76, is currently undergoing radiation treatment and chemotherapy. His office has said he expects to return to the Senate in January. Filed under: Ted Kennedy |
