McCain ad pins Biden against Obama

CNN

Watch: The McCain campaign released a new ad highlighting Sens. Biden and Obama's difference on troop funding.

(CNN)—In perhaps a sign of what can be expected from next week's vice presidential debate, the McCain campaign released a new ad Saturday highlighting Barack Obama and Joe Biden's differing opinions on funding for troops.

"In the midst of war, Senator Obama voted to cut off funding for our troops," the announcer says. "What did Biden say?"

Watch: The latest McCain ad highlights a difference between Obama and Biden

"They said they voted against the money to make a political point," the 30-second spot shows Joe Biden saying in 2007.

Biden, who is chairman of the Senate's Foreign Relations committee, voted in favor of the troop funding bill last May.

The ad, "Promise," concludes with a familiar line of attack from Friday night's debate in Mississippi, that Obama lacks the experience to be the next commander in chief.

"Barack Obama. Playing politics. Risking lives. Not ready to lead," the announcer says.

The Obama campaign was quick to respond, criticizing McCain for past votes of his own.

"Despite what his increasingly desperate and dishonorable campaign says, John McCain opposed funding for our troops that would have brought them home, while Barack Obama voted against a blank check for George Bush," Obama spokesman Hari Sevugan said in a statement. "So if John McCain wants to talk about funding, he should explain why he voted against life-saving equipment for our troops in battle, voted repeatedly against funding for veterans' health care, and wants to keep spending $10 billion a month in Iraq while the Iraqis have a surplus and our economy is in crisis.”

According to the McCain camapaign, the ad will air nationally.

Barack has been so low to criticise McCain but he just does not get it. He is hollow. There is nothing he can say which he has accomplished.
media and all the liberals are blind. They just want Barack because he is a celebrity with a big mouth. Have a life.

I don't understand why they have Dana Bash covering the McCain campaign when she makes snide comments and underminds everything they tell her. Could it be that CNN is for Obama?

OMG Obama tells all his sheeple to watch the debate on CNN and then the polls from CNN come out that Obama won. What a surprise! Bill Burton text messages in everyday to tell CNN what to report. Bill Burton was the first to text message CNN about Gov. Palin being 'a heart beat away' and everyone on CNN uses it everyday. They forget to tell you Biden makes gaffs everyday, if Gov. Palin said half of what Biden says, it would be headlines everyday at CNN. Most people I have talked to can't believe Obama's campaign is controlling CNN the way they are.

JOHN McCAIN WOULD NEVER, AND I SAY NEVER VOTE FOR ANYTHING THAT WOULD GO AGAINST OUR TROOPS OR OUR COUNTRY'S SECURITY. I FEEL LIKE THAT McCAIN WILL PROTECT OUR COUNTRY, HE HAD HIS BRACLET ON, BUT OBAMA DIDN'T AND HAD TO READ THE SOLDIERS NAME WHICH McCAIN KNEW. OBAMA ACTED LIKE A JEALOUS KID TALKING ABOUT THE BRACLET. HE IS SO IMMATURE AND SO JUST WANTS TO BE PRESIDENT, BUT SAYS THIS AND THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE BUT DOESN'T KNOW OR SAY HOW HE IS GOING TO DO. IT WOULD BE A SHAME TO HAVE HIM AS OUR PRESIDENT. AMERICANS PLEASE WAKE UP. WE WANT OUR KIDS KEPT SAFE FROM TERROIST AND HAVE A BRIGHT FUTURE WITH HIGH MORAL, VALUES ,CERTAINLY NOT HOLLYWOOD MORALS. THIS WON'T BE PUT ON CNN BLOG, HA I SAID WHAT I THOUGHT ANYWAY.

Wait, wait, wait, so McCain's hitting Obama because he has differing viewpoints on one issue from his running mate?

Maybe he and Sarah should have a heart-to-heart first.

McCain and Bush did not even give the troops the body armor they needed. They did not give money to even fund body armor so McCain has no room to talk.

  11. MR. MAGOO CAN ONLY FOCUS HIS MONACLE ON IRAQ!

When you can only view one thing at a time thru a "single lens" a lot of things appear fuzzy and out of focus!

Save the old stories for the next time you are giving a speech at the VA hall, or at the Thanksgiving table for your grandchildren

The rest of us are looking toward the future, not the past, and especially, not your past.

Mr. Magoo was so angry last night that he had to share a stage with Obama. He appeared small, gray and bitter. MaGoo was very condescending and dismissive of Obama.

What is up with the fact he never even LOOKED at Obama.

Poor Old Warrior with no honor.

  16. Shaking our Heads in Canada!!!

I would imagine the failing campaign of McCain-Palin would try to pit Obama and Biden against one another...after all McCain"s approach is to divide and conquer. It wold be in his best interest to have this strategy as a diversion from the lacklustre and inadequate presence of Sarah Palin. We here in Canada are shaking our heads over that VP pick, as is the rest of the world. If the US is the World Leader, and so much of what affects the US trickles to rest of the world, we are SCARED at the possibility of a McCain-Palin win! Not only is she far from worldly or sophisticated, she has never at all been involved in National issues or national voting. We are overly impressed at the steadfastness, statemanship and presidential qualities displayed by Barak Obama as a stark contrast to a bitter, out-of-touch man with knee jerk responses. America, you are SO very fortunate to have the choice of voting for a man such as Barack Obama.

What a shame. Obama revealed this claim for the lie that is in last night's debate. Obama made clear that both he and McCain had voted against bills seeking to provide funding for the troops, but the reasons had more to do with "timeline vs. no timeline."

SHAME ON YOU JOHN MCCAIN! If you cannot win this election without being a shameless liar, then YOU shouldn't even want you to win. This country doesn't need four more years of a lying sociopath.

The ads won't move voters any more than McNasty's debate performance last night. The McCain-Palin ticket has disaster written all over it, and even the dumbest of the dumb are beginning to see it for the giant failure it is.

Blah....Blah....Blah....from these ads. I suppose they are forcing the Obama Camp to get really nasty again only for the McCain Camp to moan and groan that our ads are nasty, distasteful, etc. BOTTOM LINE-The McCain camp just doesn't get it! I guess we'll have to get back on their level. Go Obama/Biden! Give 'em hell.

I know this is completely off the subject.....

Why didn't CNN cover the HUGE anti-Palin demonstration in Alaska? 1400+, which from what I hear is a huge crowd for Alaska.

    What's up with that?
