House Republican leader says no revote on bailout Monday

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Rep. John Boehner, the Republican leader in the House of Representatives, says the chamber will not vote again Monday on a $700 billion plan to bailout the financial services sector, after it was dramatically defeated on the floor.

These past years of GOP rule have been a winner take all grab for earmarks, tax breaks for the rich, deregulation for Wall Street and now when the whole economy is about to collapse from their greed, they wash their hands of any responsibility!

VOTE DEMOCRAT IN NOVEMBER and get rid of the greedy corrupt republicans.

They need to give McGimmick time to halt his campaign and hobble back to the rescue again.

He fixed things real good the last time he went. Maybe this time he's actually read the legislation.

John Boehner is the name I'll remember when I lose my job and can't afford to buy a loaf of bread during the midst of the coming depression. Thank you republicans for proving that you put country and the American people last.

Outstanding. For once in many, many years, I'm finally proud that my supposedly conservative Republican representatives actually strap on a pair and stand firm in conservative principles.

Stop the socialist takeover of our nation and our economy.

Aggreed! Something has to be done but it doesn't have to be this plan. The draft ((if you had time to read it) gave WAAYYYY Too much power to the treasurer and not enough protection to the taxpayers. Our reps (senate, house and pres.) should be doing better than this!

Boehner, Blunt and the GOP House leadership are in a completely untenable position; having effectively guranteed their own President the vote of their Caucus in the House, they failed to deliver. They should resign immediately.

As for the two thirds of GOP members who voted against this package, they show their utter disregard for the ordinary people of America – there is now clearly only one solution to this crisis: an Obama Presidency and a strengthened Democratic Congress.

Does anyone out there know what "short term credit" is?
That's what this failure to do anything will hurt.

That means, companies (most companies) will not be able to pay for raw materials, payroll, interest on existing loans, etc.
This will bring even tighter credit to the world economy.

There will be no help for families being forclosed on. There wil be more lost jobs. Then more forclosures..... Ben Bernanke is a top expert on the Great Depression. Listen to him

Republicans are blaming democrats on Bailout failure but the fact is ...
Among Republicans, 65 voted in favor and 133 against
Among Democrats, 140 voted in favor and 95 against

Republicans/McCain playing dirty politics, they really dont care about American people, its really not gonna bother them even if country goes into depression..

wake up republicans, this generation people are smart – they not gonna fall for old McCain tricks – I think american people are not that stupid.

While I hate this bailout – I understand that things will get worse in our nation without it.

    The Republican's are in choas.

Obama need only to stay the course and the GOP will continue to self destruct.

Because of a low level of political discourse, people did not really understand the causes of the failures and the reasons and effects of the proposed cure. The distrust of government, sewn by republican philosophy over 30 years has helped bring this about. Republican lack of concern for education (they still want to eliminate the Department of Education from the Government) has led to an undereducated population unable to deal with emergency any more than the government can.

Hey republican party, you destroyed my country. I don't support you.
