95 I say 95 will be the number that haunts you forever. Having been a lifelong Democratic, I can not understand why 95 delagates ( Democratics voted against the so called bailout ) yet CNN seems to want to put it on the Republicans. I have watched you guys everyday for the last 9 years. NO MORE NO MORE NO MORE I will continue to watch LOU DOBBS but thats it. You guys are not telling the truth or you just think we the people are stupid. We also watch whats going on tv, PLEASE not another John Kerry who do you folks think you are ? I am utterly appalled!

We have a global financial crisis, largely due to recless and greedy speculators on Wall Street. This crisis affect everyones daily life. Also ours here in Sweden. So we bite our nails while watching the US news, awaiting for your politicians to correct this financial mess.

How shocking then so see Congress behaving just as immature and recless as Wall Street, rejecting the much needed bailout plan!!!

The world looks on in disbelief, while Congress turns into a Kindergarten. Think again! Act mature! Please show true leadership setting petty feelings and partisan needs aside.

Pretending that you are protecting the taxpayer against the evils of the free spending democrats is a great way to win votes from those who are ill advised and or ignorant. It is a disgusting and evil way to attemp to win votes when your party has been responsible for our fiscal deficit – no prpoblem giving a blank check without any restrictions for war. No remorse for the billions that have been spent on contracts for the private sector to make millions in Iraq-not the soldiers-they rely on familes to provide basic needs.

I think there should be NO bailout because the businesses that are overextended (ie; the ones who don't have the money in thier account to make expenses and payroll without borrowing short term) will go away this will make room for businesses who do business correctly by not hiring more employees than thier own payroll capital can support without borrowing. Which will then make small grow not dwindle as politicians are suggesting. So No bailout is a good thing for America not for Bush and the CEO he owes favors to.

Well, according to Americans the economy is the number one issue. Let's see, if we can keep the economy in shambles, that would boost Obama's prospects for victory in November (basically he'd have the same advisors that helped Bill Clinton successfully balance our budget and promote growth).

You think it's above our government to play the people? Some of you are right...this could all be staged.

My Opinion- I don't owe those corporations that are failing one red cent. Let them fail and give the judges authority to re-write the contracts so that people could afford them. I work in the Home Equity business and my company is ethical and doing just fine without government intervention.

Yes, they didn't get the votes they thought they had for the bailout bill. Why? Pulosi criticizing Repulican House members for not working hard enough on it early last week. Check those comments in her speech last week and see that she started turning this process into politics as usual, so they revolted. Announer Sanchez on CNN didn't "get it" when first he said he couldn't find what she said, then he plays a clip this morning about her criticizing Bush. That's not it. She also criticized the entire membership of the Repulican party in the House. Play that clip Sanchez.

More credit will not make our economy worse. Our economy is driven by credit. Right now people with good credit scores can't get loans because the banks don't want to part with their reserves. No credit, no economy. As a Realtor, I have lots of clients with small businesses that are suffering already. They can't make payroll without a line of credit which they can't get anymore. To give the 700B to the public like some people suggest is ludicirous. Do these people actually think that would help. I suggest some of you people posting on this website read Economics 101. OSB said he would break our country financially and Bush went right ahead and did that along with the rest of the republicans. And, for those republicans that are going to say the democrats have been in control for 2 years, get a clue. Good ol' Bush has vetoed almost everything the democrats tried to get through.

I don't think anyone is happy about the bailout and in a perfect world it wouldn't be necessary. However, without something being done now your very paychecks could be in jeopardy. If you business does not have cash flow they can't pay you, they can't buy supplies and they will shut down causing more problems in the economy. The hope that the economy will just straighten itself out on its own is not reality at this time. Do some kind of bailout WITH accountability, save our economy and vote for a change in party regime to ensure this doesn't happen again!

Maybe we should start sending the credit where it is due. The Dems approved legislation to give subprime loans to people who couldnt afford the loan and if the banks refused to give them the loans people like the Lawyer Obama would sue the banking instution from not following the guidelines. If we want to fix these issues we need to revisit this legislation and maybe re-write or over-turn the law. This allows people to buy things of value 40 times there annual salary. This strapped their income and ten the greed of the spectulators and the oil industry increasing the price of gasoline to the point that the average American was now spending more than they were making just to travel to and from work, so I blame this on the greed of a few.

I wish the stock traders would realize that they are the ones driving the stock market, not the Bailout. Just quite panicking and let the market do what it does "Fluctuate". A report comes out that the stock market is going down, guess what? it does DUH!!! That is a self fulfilling prophecy. Driven purely by peoples panic. If everyone wasn't panicking and immediately selling, the market wouldn't drop like that. The same goes with the banks. Everyone making a run on the banks is what it making them fail. Guess what, if you take every penny you have and keep it at home and the market fails, you don't have anything anyway because it's worthless!!!! Think about it what hurts more people if there is a fire? Running and trampling over each other to get out or nice orderly action? If you run and take all your money or stocks, you are trampling over all the other Americans because you are ruining our economy.
