Obama ad targets Fiorina

A new Obama ad targets Carly Fiorina.

A new Obama ad targets Carly Fiorina.

(CNN) - Barack Obama is targeting a John McCain advisor's former compensation as a Fortune 500 CEO in a new television ad running nationally.

The 30-second spot goes after executive pay and is specifically critical of Carly Fiorina, the current McCain advisor who was ousted as the head of Hewlett-Packard in 2005. The company doled out $21 million in severance to her, and reportedly another $21 million worth of stock and pension.

"John McCain's advisor, Carly Fiorina. The fired CEO who left with $42 million," the ad's narrator says. "Barack Obama says it's got to change."

The ad, called "Parachute," also attacks Washington Mutual CEO Alan Fishman, who reportedly could get $19 million worth of compensation, even though the bank failed last week.

"You've got corporate executives who are giving themselves million dollar golden parachutes and leaving workers high and dry," Obama says in the ad. "That's wrong. It's an outrage."

Fiorina had been a prominent surrogate for McCain, but she was promptly removed from the cable news circuit earlier this month after she said neither John McCain no Sarah Palin was qualified to run a major corporation.

Excellent! Obama won the debate as indicated in his sharp rise in the polls after the weekend. Now we need to keep the subject on the issues.

McGimmick is not fit to run a corporation, much less the most complex economy on the planet

  4. Mccain is a liar

Why isn't there more talk of what Mccain said about putting a freeze on government spending altogather. Sure he could afford that with his 7 houses and 13 cars, he can ride it out at his new house, the white house, but what about the public school systems that desperately need help, our crumbling roads that can put more people to work...why isn't this being talked about more?

How much did Andrew McCain, John McCain's son, CEO of failed Silver Bank get when he left 2 months prior to it's belly up and investors lost their money?

CNN is SOOOOOOOOOOO in the TANK for McSHAME. When John McSAME comes up with a negative ad, CNN will post the link to the ad to give it more coverage; but will be biased by posting ONLY A SCREEN SHOT of Obama's hitting McSame on the issues of CEO pay and outsourcing American jobs overseas.

CNN, I demand you be fair and NOT CENSOR FREE SPEECH. POST THE LINK TO OBAMA's AD NOW!!!!

    Simply the truth !

Someone has to tell McCain that this is not the time to run a campaign like a SNL skit ... If we would have known that he is such a drama queen he would not have to pick a VP based on gender.

So if McCain's not qualified to run a major organization, is what's happening to his campaign explained?

The evangelical Baptists are now rushing in to rescue the McCain campaign, even to the extent of defying the law. I wonder what sort of price they would demand for their support, were McCain to win?

Maybe the moral is that if you put an incompetent in charge of the government, you thereby gain an opportunity to buy the whole thing on the cheap.

BO should continue to hit McCain-Palin about the economy....Use McCain's own words "I don't know much about the economy" against him and use his advisors "a Nation of winers"..."mental recession"....Just keep hitting McSame with the economy and this election will be over very soon!!!

And according to McCain, he knew nothing of her bonus package. Just one more of McCain/Palin lies.

Of course Obama's ad would never mention Jim Johnson or Franklin Raines who cooked the books at Freddie Mac so they could make millions of dollars in bonuses. His ad would never mention them because they are advisors to Obama. The Democrat Party has become the party of hypocrisy and double standards

MCMORON lies out of both sides of his dirty nasty mouth. It is amaZing that the son of a Navy admiral would have no manners. The way he treated Obama last week at the debate was disgusting. If a Jr. High kid did that it would be wrong. He loved Fiorina until she did him in. I heard him talking from Ohio this am and not one word he said was true. He was smiling and fawning all over Miss Mooseberger, idiot wife standing there like a statue, he ignores her. When Sara caribou is around he can't contain himself from smiling. Too bad he couldn't have acted like a gentleman ( remember an officer and a gentleman?) during the debate. Next time I feel sure Obama will go for the jugular and he won't know what hit him.

WHAT we learned last week is that the man who always puts his “country first” will take the country down with him if that’s what it takes to get to the White House. For all the focus on Friday night’s deadlocked debate, it still can’t obscure what preceded it: When John McCain gratuitously parachuted into Washington on Thursday, he didn’t care if his grandstanding might precipitate an even deeper economic collapse. All he cared about was whether he might save his campaign. George Bush put more deliberation into invading Iraq than McCain did into his own reckless invasion of the delicate Congressional negotiations on the bailout plan. What this really means is Obama was right when he call McCain about putting out a letter with both of there endorsement McCain saw a opportunity to make a stand first. Even if the “fundamentals of our economy are strong.”

Right on, Sen. Obama. Once again McCain tries to tie big-money advisers to the Obama campaign while ignoring his own ties to execs who benefited from golden parachutes. And what a whopper it was for Fiorina. This woman was a horrific executive who did terrible damage to the shareholders of her company.
McCain needs to stop the lies, distortions, misrepresentations, and other dishonorable acts. This is a man –supposedly of high character– who couldn't even look Sen. Barack Obama in the eye during Friday's debate. To me, that's small, petty and shifty. This ad is more of the same. He no longer can claim any honor at all. Not after how he has led his campaign.

What people need to be thinking and asking themselves is why and how Sarah Palin can attract enormous crowds such as the 60K + crowd in Florida WITHOUT free concerts. Obama can't attract that large without the use of those concerts or celebrity appearances yet she is getting that many or more on a the trail with a regular stump speech. Hillary didn't need the concerts either. Makes you wonder doesn't it? Obama = all substance.

This is unfortunate. Carly Fiorina was elected to her position by a Board of Directors, who also approved her salary, who also approved her severance package. I understand the message, but there are countless CEOs (Republicans and Democrats) that are being paid this much money. To single Fiorina out is a low blow. To single her out shows a lack of leadership, and demonstrates a distinct difference between preaching about change, and actually providing change. Actions speak louder than words.
