However, much of the blame has to go to the go-go, greed is good, privatize everything, regulate nothing atmosphere that has been permeating Washington going back to Reagan. Much of that deregulation and market centric philosophy was appropriate. A bunch of it went too far and some of it went way too far.

To say that the primary force behind that movement, especially its excesses, was not Republican/Conservative would be a total denial of reality.... and John McCain's fingerprints are all over it!

Have you noticed that McCain has morphed from being "Ronald Reagan" to "Teddy Roosevelt"? Guess he is trying to distance himself from the deregulation crowd. Is there an honest bone in his entire body?
