Obama seeks to sell bailout bill

Obama spent Monday evening in Reno working the phones.

Obama spent Monday evening in Reno working the phones.

RENO, Nevada (CNN) - Barack Obama spent Monday night in Reno, Nevada talking with officials in Washington and advisors on the failure of the economic bailout plan in Congress.

According to a senior campaign aide, the Illinois senator's remarks in Reno Tuesday will again center on the economic crisis – and how it could affect the average American.

Watch: House bailout rejected

Specifically, the aide told CNN Obama wants to highlight how the crisis extends past Wall Street and touches everyone – from those with 401K’s, to the small business owner trying to make payroll and families struggling with rising living costs.

After his remarks in Reno, Obama is slated to head to the Midwest for several days of campaigning in Wisconsin and Michigan.

Who should grow up? They all should. The last comment is hypocrtitical at best. What the poster needs to point out is that many democrats didn't vote in favor because a republican said something to them. In principle I agree–time for everyone to grow up!

Let me say it to you clearly. The US as the financial superpower is coming to an end. For decades the preachings of capitalism and deregulate free enterprise was the Bible for the US to expand its influence around the world encouraging the rest of the world to adopt the preachings of capitalism. And after decades of preaching the US is nationalizing giant private companies, showing the rest of the world the failure of capitalism. Free markets and no supervision has proven catastrophic will for the economies around the world.
They US can no more continue to try to convince the rest of the world that capitalism is the solution because nobody will accept it anymore.
A much more balanced system is needed. A system where private enterprise and businesses will coexist with the policies of the state about health care, education, Social Security, infrastructure.
Capitalism as you know it will no longer exist. It failed miserably as a system. Bailing out the giant companies with taxpayers money and nationalizing those companies is the proof of it.

Sen. Obama your "STUFF". We need leadership now...........not a bunch of Republican HOT AIR. This whole Plan came from a Republican Adminstration. This in NO WAY came from the Democrats. The Republican's got us to this point. The Republicans refuse to vote on THIER OWN measure to get us out of this mess............please give some direction and leadership to these selfish house members.

I love the fact he didn't ride into Washington, act like he was going to do something he knew he couldn't do... he stayed calm and asked his party where they wanted him. He has a job to do right now and right now its not in the Senate, they only have a month to go they have to be on the stump! All he can do is what he was doing in that picture... and at least he hasn't used up all his political capital like McCain did last week with his party!

Simple Solution for the bailout and financial crisis.

All residential mortgages across the US could be reduced to 5% (no refinancing or closing costs). This would reduce the average americans financial burden which in turn would increase their ability to spend which in turn would stimulate Wall Street. The Banks would still profit but at a lower rate which is better then foreclosing and taking huge losses. Then institute mandatory regulation on all new mortgages generated.

I am amazed that there are so many people who do not understand how this credit crisis will affect them. They are against a bill of any kind. But they do not understand that by doing nothing, they might lose their job or lose their home because their employer can't pay them. I think that Bush should stay off the television, since 72% of America does not trust him.

I'd like to respond to this very ignorant (lacking knowledge) comment made by someone who obviously doesn't know how to fact check!

    She said....

"Look at Missouri.Barack Obama Truth Squad???? What a joke. He is not a leader. He waits to see what McCain say or does and then reacts. What a waste. Him and Biden! And they have the nerve to pint fingers!!!!!!"

Are you serious Kate???? There is something wrong with you!!! McCain is the one jumping on Obama's bandwagon every time he makes an intelligent statement or suggestion. The he try's to make it seem like he–McCain–came up with the idea in the first place!!! Let's take the phrase "Time for Change" for instance....can you say that McCain ran with the whole "Change" theme before Obama did??? Or, did he steal it once he saw how much of an effect it had on Obama's campaign? Wake up honey...McCain is a puppet...and a thief!!!! TRUTH HURTS DOESN"T IT?????

    They have shredded our constitution
    They have destroyed our economy
They have ruined our reputation as a society of laws and not men
    They have bankrupted our treasury
They have nearly broken our military
They have repeatedly lied to us (how else could they sell their destruction?)

Country first? What I would like to know is which country? Whose country?
    Vote OBAMA 08

It is so hard to tell whether the bailout is needed or just more WMD. We need a president with credibility.

More of the same from John McShame

John McLame says, “I don’t know much about the economy, I still need to be educated”

“It would be acceptable if we had to stay in Iraq for another 100 years.”

We need to “bomb, bomb, and bomb Iran”

“I have voted with Bush 90% of the time because he has been right 90% of the time”

    Sarah Failin says,
“I have foreign policy experience because you can see Russia from Alaska and I went to Mexico on vacation once.”

“I welcome any investigation into my past because I have nothing to hide, oh never mind I will not meet with any investigators for any reason ever.”

She believes the Bush Doctrine is a “World View” hahaha

She says she said “No Thanks” for the Bridge to nowhere when she was actually the one who got it approved

She says we may have to go to war WITH RUSSIA

She decreased her own responsibilities when she was the mayor of a town small enough to be run by a fifth grader

Barack Hussein Obama doesn't know enough about Government or the BailOut to put in his eye. His handlers feed him words and thoughts about EVERYTHING!!! Obama is a stuttering idiot fool who doesn't have enough experience to run any country and run anything on his own. Obama's riding high with his un-earned celebrity and is NOT ahead in the Polls that are created to Make Voters think and believe that he is. It's all political ploy and the media is definitely giving Obama singular support. The Media Bias is disgusting and real. It is also UNFAIR in a Presidential Campaign. Americans do NOT need to be told what to do, for we are all more intelligent than the Media or Obama. We know what is going on, and we do NOT agree with Wallstreet Greed and the Media Scare Tactics.
CNN is the biggest player in the scare tactics and the UNTRUE, UNFOUNDED CREATED POLLS about Obama. The Public Knows very well what is going on. Raines needs to be put in Jail, along with all the other close friends and cronies of Obama.

Obama has been absent from this issue....if he really wanted to get active he would.

Obama is VOTING PRESENT on the American Economy and it is very telling of how he would run our nation to the ground if he were elected.

You know I really laugh when people say Obama suggesting we raise the limits on FDIC to $250k is a stolen idea. Do you think McCain comes up with his own ideas? They have people around them providing advice and they make the decision to discuss it. Don't be upset with Obama for recognizing a good suggestion and relaying the message. It's a good idea and it will help married couples and small business owners who need the extra insurance on their savings and checking accounts. Part of the reason why these banks went under is because people were pulling their money out of the accounts. So banks can't function without money in the accounts. I'd rather try something than do nothing....and yesterday's vote against the bailout was a do nothing strategy.

Obama/Biden '08...the only choice for me

Excellent move to inform the public, tell us how the economy works.

We can see a need to require economics for our high school students. Maybe work shops in communities.

Instead of giving our money to the banks, how about it's used to refinance some of these idiots who took out ARMS and are now losing thier houses?

How about we get some regulations on the speculators. It's their fault the country is in the crapper right now.

Maybe we ought to clean out their pockets to fish the country out.

John McCain does not have the judgement, temperament or intellect to be president.

Republicans blaming their vote on Pelosi's speech should grow up. You choose to act like children on an important bill, but like your out of touch leaders ( Bush & McCain) you will do nothing until the crisis affect them. Lets see what happens when Cindy's credit card is denied or an AMT does dispense Megan money, bet action is taken then! Bush & Mccain should get control of their party members, offer a better plan, otherwise shut up and work with what you have.

Sitting on the side lines talking on the phones and telling the Democrats and Republican leader to "Get something Done " is not my idea of a President..and waiting till Congress has signed the bill into law and waiting till after he has been voted the president before he will take a good look and make sure the tax payers are protected is TOO LATE
Obama is to busy working " the truth squad " and the Ohio early voting . He don't have time to help with the bailout.

To all you Repugs who took those stimulus checks, guess what you are welfare recipants. It's amazing how people will take something then try to be something they are not and that's RICH!! White people get over yourselves you are in just as bad of a state as the blacks, latino/hispanics,and asians. Ya'll always trying to make it look like the blacks want hand outs when ya'll are the biggiest ones to stick your hand out. We been taking care of you peopled for decades and you act like you been just living on your own taking care of yourselves when you know full well half you about to jump off a bridge because you can't take the pressure of not having or being taken care of. We as African Americans have been standing since the test of time and have proven we are a very strong people who know how to handle hardship when it comes, something you all know nothing about.

Lets get it straight statistically whites have a higher rate of welfare recipants, higher teenage pregnancies, and higher rate of drug abuse. But you know how you are, you paint the blacks with this problem. But hey, it's your little country and you paint it however you see fit, to help you to believe your lie. I really don't know what to say about you people, ya'll are some disturbing people.

McCain is a fool and a liar!!!
