Palin says she's the 'new energy'

Palin told CBS' Katie Couric she represents 'new energy.'

(CNN) – Sarah Palin said she was not taking a jab at Joe Biden's age or lengthy stint in Washington when recently joking she had been listening to the Delaware senator's speeches since the second grade.

"Oh no, it's nothing negative at all," Palin told Katie Couric Monday in the latest installment of her Monday interview with the CBS anchor. "He's got a lot of experience and just stating the fact there, that we've been hearing his speeches for all these years."

The original comments came at an Ohio rally Monday, when Palin told the cheering crowd, "I'm looking forward to meeting [Biden] too, I've never met him before - but I've been hearing about his senate speeches since I was in, like the second grade."

Watch: Palin goes after Biden

Some political observers found that comment peculiar, given her own running mate is the oldest man ever to seek a first presidential term. But Palin said she was merely contrasting the differences she sees between herself and Biden.

"He's got a tremendous amount of experience and, you know, I'm the new energy, the new face, the new ideas and he's got the experience based on many, many years in the Senate and voters are gonna have a choice there of what it is that they want in these next four years," she said.

Palin was 8 years-old when Biden was first elected to the Senate in 1972. (Biden was 29 at that time)

Why don't you focus on Obama's past and present ?

I like Sarah Palin and will vote for McCain regardless of what you say.

If you elect this woman to be vice president with the old man having 1 foot in the grave than you deserve no better as a nation. But then again you elected Bush twice which tells you that where the US lacks is an intellect and political maturity. I guess you really don't deserve better than those two.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall listening to Palin's preparation debate session. No amount of preparing is going to help her. McCain and Sarah will be crying Friday morning that they were "picked on" and "everybody hates them". Sounds like my four year old.

Yeah, I thought that comment was odd considering her running mate's age. What was she thinking? Oh yeah, that's the problem.

You people have no clue. You have been pre-judging Palin from the day it was announced she would be McCain VP. You have almost successfully tore her down and regardless how she does in the debate, Obama supporters will trash her..Guess what...she does not have to know everything..thats why all Presidents and Vice Presidents have advisors. Maybe a real person with a new perspective is exactly what Washington needs...My question is what is the real differance between Obama and Palin...Obama has had 18 months of advisors and a good schooling by Hillary Clinton. Stop the hate...give Palin a chance...if she fails...she fails. The hatred you express is not what Mr. Obama has asked for from his supporters.

I am seriously at the point of not being able to stand this woman. I even cringe at the thought of Tina Fey. PLEASE SEND HER BACK TO ALASKA!

Palin is the new energy of the republican conservative fossil.

She is younger among them and yet her views are fossil like. She is not up to the task. No repubs this year.

Palin is a pinhead, I look forward to her interview with Bill O'reilly of FoxNews. Sarah Miss Alaska Congeniality Palin cannot control her stupid way of thinking and that is her problem and the real challenge for McSame's campaign. I hope that Cindy undertands a little bit the situation, because she is not also clear in her head. So that is a very crazzy and dangerous combination: McSame-Palin-Cindy.

She needs to stop trying to take smart jabs at people and get her lines straight. She is on no place to make fum of someone else, when she is the town fool right about now.

At this point, she only looks like a fool by making snide remarks about "Obama's naivity" or Biden's age. Gimme a break.

On Friday morning, after the debate, look for McCain and Palin to cry they are being "picked on" and "nobody likes us". Sounds like my four year old.

McCain is no maverick.A maverick would have put his choice of Lieberman on the ticket.Instead he decided to play us all for fools with Palin.I take my vote very seriously McCain and it won't go to you.

Why do I sincerely doubt that Sara remembers hearing Joe Biden speeches when she was in the second grade? Other than the tragedy that befell him as he entered office – a junior congressman would not be lighting up the three network's newscasts at that time. So contrived...

I read this before, but it hits home. Gov. Palin is like the popular girl in school making snide remarks and flirting her way through life.
She does nothing BUT make snide remarks for laughs at her staged/safe appearances.
I just KNEW that McCain was going to pick a woman to try and get Hillary's votes. He insulted all women! He actually believed that we'd vote for a woman who is so ill equipped for the White House simply because she IS a woman. He must think that we are ALL airheads. Boggles the mind, doesn't it?

Let's not underestimate her. All the humor/parody only lower the expectations for her debate performance. Be afraid that she may end up a heartbeat away from the presidency which is a frightening thought!
