Palin: I'm a 'Joe-six pack American'

Gov. Palin met with fellow mothers of U.S. soldiers while campaigning in Philadelphia Sunday.

Gov. Palin met with fellow mothers of U.S. soldiers while campaigning in Philadelphia Sunday.

SEDONA, Arizona (CNN) - Sarah Palin on Tuesday called herself a “Joe-six pack American” and said that her family has lost $20,000 in the stock market because of the financial meltdown on Wall Street.

Palin made the comments in a radio interview with conservative talker Hugh Hewitt while taking a break from debate prep at John McCain’s ranch in Sedona.

“I know what Americans are going through there,” Palin said on the radio show. “And you know, even today, Todd and I are looking at what’s going on in the stock market, the relatively low number of investments that we have, looking at the hit that we’re taking, probably $20,000 dollars last week in his 401K plan that was hit.

“I’m thinking, ‘Geez, the rest of America, they’re facing the exact same thing that we are. We understand what the problems are.’”

Earlier: Palin takes a dig at Biden's age?

Hewitt asked Palin her reaction to the “extreme hostility” that she has faced from liberals.

“Oh, I think they’re just not used to someone coming in from the outside saying you know what? It’s time that a normal Joe six-pack American is finally represented in the position of vice presidency, and I think that that’s kind of taken some people off guard, and they’re out of sorts, and they’re ticked off about it,” she said.

Jimmy Carter was about $700,000,000,000 smarter than Bush.

It's funny how the idiots that gave us Bush for 2 terms now want to give us McSame/Pain for 4 more years. Not this time...No way – No how – No McSame/Pain!!!

I would rather be know for being bitter and clinging to my guns and religion. At least I would have a reason for my actions. What are my reasons for wanting to be know as the average 6 pack American Joe? Oh yeah, I forgot. It's Miller Time. I wonder. Do we belch after 2 or 3 or wait until we have consumed our 6.

When we tell our children that they can be anything, even President of the United States, we do so because we hold that office in high regard. We don't want the guy up the street for President, unless he has achieved academically and is smart enough to handle the job and all that comes with it. It is not the place for the 'average joe.' We want excellence in the White House. Please do not believe that being regular is a requirement for this office. It is important that we keep that in mind.

Clinging to your guns and religion, means this: You cling to your God who never fails, and to your gun (2nd amendment right) which is a symbol of the freedom that this great country of ours offers, when government otherwise screws up. Your Gun and your Hope is a good thing in deed, but not in the republican way that they interpet it or spin it! That's what Obama ment; also whe questioned about abortion and Obama stated that he doesn't ahve the "pay grade" He was saying that he doesn't have the moral or spiritual authority to make that decision, ah we know the Republicans think that they are God....

Enough about the comments about Wright, Rezko, Ayers...

Who cares? Has Obama been found to have done ANYTHING illegal in connection to any of these people? The answer is NO! He hasn't done a single thing wrong in connection with these people other than the fact that he knows them.

James Wilson.. I'm sure unless you live in a cave.. you know people that have done illegal things... that must obviously make you a derilect and all around piece of garbage because you know people that have done bad things.

But America is voting for President not VP! So even tho Joe 6 pack is running with McCain, it will be the Average Joe who will join President OBAMA in the White House. Don't ya know?

I'm sorry but if you were a hillary supporter and now you are supporting mccain/palin then YOU ARE NOT AND WERE NOT A HILLARY SUPPORTER. They are on two opposite sides of the polical spectrum! obviously you are voting on gender and not policy and that is disgraceful.
get a clue, put "country first," and don't vote.

Would you trust this woman with your children's future? I wouldnt. If Palin and McCain get into the white house they will bring about what terrorists have always been after. They will cause the financial collapse of the United States of America.

She is absolutely correct and will be getting four votes from this house no matter how she does in the debates. It is about time we un@ssed these Yale and Harvard crooks from the whitehouse and the goverment. Where you are at now with this country is because most presidents , wall street brokers and congress is made up of these supposedly intellects. Give me a real person who understands working , patriotic americans who can balance a budget and say what they mean instead of riddles and change and hope B.S. Words do not change anything, action does.

    I Can See Russia:
"When did we as a society decide that we should be lead by someone who is average?

When did we decide to lower the bar?"

To answer to both questions: November 2000, and then again in November 2004.

Gov. Palin is a "normal Joe six-pack American"?
    Please.

She has state-provided healthcare that's better than anything available to the private sector, $82,000 a year salary as the governor of Alaska (Todd Palin makes about $100k), and she's not at risk of losing her job because her employer can't survive the economic disaster that Pres. Bush and his cronies failed to prevent. She won't lose her house or her job like a lot of other average Americans will or already have. Average American my eye.

Excuse me, a'Johnnie 6-pack'? I don't think so. My local PTA person or block club leader would do just as well, or I could go to a local bar and pick Johnnie to run. Stay in Alaska. Where did Todd get a 401K to loose $20,000? Opps... Anyway, America needs intelligence, experience and some common sense for everyman; not just your Johnnie-Joe-Janes 6-packs.

Funny, I dpn't know of a single person like Palin where I'm from....

I wonder who she's referring to when she says "Joe six-pack American"

    What tax bracket is he/she?

    What race is he/she?

    What religion is he/she?

It's statements like this that betray her lack of knowledge and intelligence. People don't dislike you because you're different, the dislike you because you are aspiring to a position that with every interview you reveal yourself dangerously unqualified for.

And THAT simply insults peoples' intelligence...

Now there's another Republican making racist comments. It's all Republicans seem to be capable of. Are you so uneducated that you have cannot debate on the merits of a man?

Do you not think for 5 seconds even, that Obama was not COMPLETELY vetted when he is going for the biggest job in the world? How can anyone be stupid enough to believe that 'anyone other than Palin' wouldn't have every moment of their lives, their families, friends and connections completely vetted? I'm sure that process is much worse than a strip search!

Anyone that thinks for 5 minutes that Palin has something to offer must be hard of hearing and hasn't read the news in the last couple of months.

I'm sorry. I don't want "Joe Six-Pack" as president. I wanted an educated president that understands the complexities of a global economy

There's a reason why "Joe Six-Pack" is seeing his job moved overseas....

Hey James Wilson, Sarah Palin is the VP remember its McCain thats running for pres. and if you don't find anything wrong with McCain's behavior and Sarah Palin's answers to her current interviews then there must be something wrong with you too.
Honestly, I feel sorry for Palin, McCain has disrupted her life for his political games. There is no doubt in my mind that Sarah Palin is a humble and sweet person and she was loved in her home town of Alaska and she was/is probably a very good governor but she is not cut out to be VP. Now with the help of McCain she has become the butt of SNL and her hometown of Alaska has seen her in a light that they've never seen her before. McCain is a low down dirty politician who will do anything to get elected even ruin a nice lady like Sarah Palin's political image for his personal gain!

SIX PACK SARAH, YOU WILL NEVER FIT IN HILLARY CLINTON'S SHOES. YOU NEED TO GO HOME TAKE CARE OF YOUR FAMILY IN ALASKA. MAYBE, IN 10 YEARS WHEN YOUR FAMILY IS A LITTLE OLDER. THEN YOU WILL BE ABLE TO CONTINUE YOUR POLITICAL CAREER. RIGHT NOW, YOU HAVE AN OBLIGATION TO YOUR FAMILY WHEN THEY NEED YOU THE MOST. FOUR YEARS IS A LONG TIME TO DEPRIVE A HAPPY FAMILY, TOGETHERNESS.
