Palin: I'm a 'Joe-six pack American'

Gov. Palin met with fellow mothers of U.S. soldiers while campaigning in Philadelphia Sunday.

Gov. Palin met with fellow mothers of U.S. soldiers while campaigning in Philadelphia Sunday.

SEDONA, Arizona (CNN) - Sarah Palin on Tuesday called herself a “Joe-six pack American” and said that her family has lost $20,000 in the stock market because of the financial meltdown on Wall Street.

Palin made the comments in a radio interview with conservative talker Hugh Hewitt while taking a break from debate prep at John McCain’s ranch in Sedona.

“I know what Americans are going through there,” Palin said on the radio show. “And you know, even today, Todd and I are looking at what’s going on in the stock market, the relatively low number of investments that we have, looking at the hit that we’re taking, probably $20,000 dollars last week in his 401K plan that was hit.

“I’m thinking, ‘Geez, the rest of America, they’re facing the exact same thing that we are. We understand what the problems are.’”

Earlier: Palin takes a dig at Biden's age?

Hewitt asked Palin her reaction to the “extreme hostility” that she has faced from liberals.

“Oh, I think they’re just not used to someone coming in from the outside saying you know what? It’s time that a normal Joe six-pack American is finally represented in the position of vice presidency, and I think that that’s kind of taken some people off guard, and they’re out of sorts, and they’re ticked off about it,” she said.

Whether she is or she's not, the VERY LAST THING WE NEED IN OUR HIGHEST POLITICAL OFFICE IS "JOE SIX-PACK". Ask yourself if you would be comfortable with your next-door neighbor representing the country. I would not.

I don't understand most of what comes out of Palin's mouth. ANd that I do understand is either fluff or bull.
And no, Palin, THIS American, and I'm sure there are many more who don't wish for, as you put it, "a
normal Joe 6-pack American representative" whatever the heck that means. What does that mean? Or are you just being patronizing, thinking if you can act down to earth enough, most of us will feel indebted to your generosity to stoop "to our level."

    Don't do me any favors.

Many of us Americans are looking for someone at least a cut above average in intelligence, competence and integrity, and from what I continue to see, you simply aren't cutting it.

Frankly, I am surprised that you hold the position of governor.

This is sick. America is facing real problems that require more than joe six pack at the helm. This logic puts a corner store clerk in the treasury, a bike courier in Transportation, and a travel agent in charge of foreigh affairs.

Palin, you are not new energy but the energy of someone vastly out of their league getting a shot that over 200 million of us are now qualified to hold as well.

If after all the loose and uninformed talk from Sarah Palin, Americans still believe the MCain-Palin ticket is the best team to lead America forward in the 21st century then Good Luck! Again I say get beyond race, and vote Obam?Biden.
You will get the leaders you deserve!?? Another Bush term? Do you really deserve that?

Is she nuts or what! 20K – I would be depressed right now and my 401K didn't get hit like that... Avg Joe's have to actually work and not fake that they are intelligent. Way out of her League.

The only thing that scares me more than having Palin anywhere near the White House, is knowing there are Americans out there who want her as VP! If people like her smart-alexy comments and quick insults then give her a talk show. American desires much better than Palin in the highest offices!

Hoe about giving us the percentage drop that $20k represents – then we can tell if it was of any real consequence to her savings...

Sorry, Sarah. That's just not good enough. You talk and think like a 13 year old girl. We need a WOMAN in the VP slot. A woman with background and BRAIONS! You're not even worth your Alaska governor's salary!

Does the "average Joe Six Pack" have their lip liner tatooed on? She is a sham and a disgrace to her party and this country.

The office of Vice presidency of the United States has certain prerequisites. They apply to ALL that seek the position, even Joe Six-pack.

Gov.Palin's resume is weak at best. Blackout her name at the top and would you even consider it?

McVeigh was a terrorist for bombing the Federal Building in Oklahoma
and he was not a Muslim if I remember it correctly! So please don't even bring OBAMA'S religion. After all he graduated at Harvard Com laude with a law degree and as a former professor of constitutional lawyer I would trust him more better than McCain. McCain didn't have good grades when he graduated from Naval Academy.

To All Palin Supporters: Can you please stop and consider something for a second...What if she really is that dumb. What if it's not the media and Democrats picking on her, but that she really is that clueless? The woman couldn't name one Supreme Court Case other than Roe v. Wade. Not one....not even Gore v. Bush that decided the 2000 election for god's sake. She couldn't even name one magazine or newspaper that she reads for current events. Not only is she not smart, she doesn't care about the world around her, and the worst part is the fact that she is so smug about it.

Sorry, but in these tough times, I don't want a "Joe six-pack" running the country. Give me the "elite" (the best of the best).

In response to the other thread that was closed to comments, Gov. Palin knows full well that the comments she made about Joe Biden being in the senate since she was in 2nd grade was clearly an attack.

    She'll do fine.
Unlike her rivals–she has NO ties–to the elitist Harvard and Yale alumnus who believe it's their destiny–and theirs alone to control the government and finance of the United States.

A breath of fresh air and a wake up call to the Kennedy's, Bush's, Clinton's, and Obama's of the country–we want representation!

Sarah Palin must have failed the second grade twice, because if me not mistaken she is 46 years old, that would make her 11 years old in the second grade.I was only 8 years old in second grade.Joe biden did not give any major speeches on television in 1972,you could not find footage of Joe nowhere on television unless you are talking about the tragic loss of his wife and daughter.

Lost $20,000? TAKE A NUMBER, CARIBOU BARBIE.

And be thankful it was only $20,000 you out-of-touch whiner.

  18. Truth Be told

if she lost that much because of this economic crash that her party created, maybe she can really be transparent and openly declare her tax returns.

also, the american public is smart enough to know that even though you're an outsider wanting to be a heartbeat away from the presidency, you have to have the necessary skills to do a very important job, a job that billions of americans would look up to and rely on, a job that the rest of the world would be dependent on. a normal joe-six-pack american is not it. i am a normal joe-six-pack and i know very well i'm not qualified to be the vice president of the most powerful on earth.

i'm now truly convinced that sarah palin is not only delusional, but overly ambitious and would not care who gets in her way. she would even sell her soul to the devil to get what she wants and that scary. the devil, however, is waiting in alaska when she returns after november 4th to answer for her transgressions.

IT IS A WHOLE LOT BETTER TO SUPPORT YOUR PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE BY VOLUNTEERING AND MAKING CONTRIBUTIONS TO THEIR CAMPAIGN THAN BLOGGING ON CNN . IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT YOU BLOG HERE UNLESS YOU BACK IT UP WITH CONVIC.TION . AMERICANS WILL VOTE INTELLIGENTLY BY CHOOSING THE CANDIDATE WITH EXPERIENCE, JUDGEMENT
AND A PROVEN PATRIOTIC AMERICAN WHO PUTS "COUNTRY FIRST."

How dare she stereo-type us average Joe's as always having a six-pack handy!! And why do they always exploit military members and their families? We can all see right through their charades.

As someone from the Caribbean who's watching the US elections, I have to say we were way more fortunate in our choice of women leaders. So far we've had a female Prime Minister of two islands, and a Deputy Prime Minister of another – and all three of them were brilliant, highly intelligent women – no Joe six-packs.

Margaret Thatcher, former Prime Minister of the UK, whether you agreed with her views or not, was another example of a brilliant mind (now sadly diminished by Alzheimer's), but again, tellingly, no Joe six-pack.

If this woman had put her name into consideration for the Republican Presidential primaries, she would have been driven from the field with snide guffaws by the same people who are trying to sell her now. Honestly tell me I'm wrong. She has no business being where she is.

    On Palin:

If she is a "Joe six-pack," does this mean she drinks beer?

If she doesn't blieve that Energy is the source of our universe and life, does this mean she talks to "It" or "God?"

I hope that Joe treats her like an equal and tears her apart. I hope she breaks down and cries "wee, wee, wee, all the home."

I don't want to live in this country if she is talking to dignitaries or doing absolutely anything in decision making.

We would have Speaker Pelosi as President when McCain croaks.

The debate will remind me of Burns and Allen. It will be the best comedy show I have ever seen.
