Palin: I'm a 'Joe-six pack American'

Gov. Palin met with fellow mothers of U.S. soldiers while campaigning in Philadelphia Sunday.

Gov. Palin met with fellow mothers of U.S. soldiers while campaigning in Philadelphia Sunday.

SEDONA, Arizona (CNN) - Sarah Palin on Tuesday called herself a “Joe-six pack American” and said that her family has lost $20,000 in the stock market because of the financial meltdown on Wall Street.

Palin made the comments in a radio interview with conservative talker Hugh Hewitt while taking a break from debate prep at John McCain’s ranch in Sedona.

“I know what Americans are going through there,” Palin said on the radio show. “And you know, even today, Todd and I are looking at what’s going on in the stock market, the relatively low number of investments that we have, looking at the hit that we’re taking, probably $20,000 dollars last week in his 401K plan that was hit.

“I’m thinking, ‘Geez, the rest of America, they’re facing the exact same thing that we are. We understand what the problems are.’”

Earlier: Palin takes a dig at Biden's age?

Hewitt asked Palin her reaction to the “extreme hostility” that she has faced from liberals.

“Oh, I think they’re just not used to someone coming in from the outside saying you know what? It’s time that a normal Joe six-pack American is finally represented in the position of vice presidency, and I think that that’s kind of taken some people off guard, and they’re out of sorts, and they’re ticked off about it,” she said.

I will gladly admit that she is a common American woman. Not a super rich Elitist like McCain. But this fact does not make up for the Fact that Palin has very little knowledge of economic issues or foriegn affairs. She is just totally in over her head and everyone knows it.

We have had a "normal joe-six pack" leading this country for 8 years...it has been a failure...what is this garbage that people want a president who they can drink a beer with and isn't smarter or better than them....it is the presidency...I want the smartest man or woman alive on policy issues to be in that seat...not someone I can have a drink with...I know people I can have a drink with and I don't want them to be my president.

GOV Palin is one of us – that's why we like her.
Biden is good also, McCain is great –
It's that obama guy that we just cannot trust to lead our country.

I am really excited about McCain's presidency over the next eight years. I think that he and Palin will vastly improve the state of our nation.

Have her release her tax returns and we will see how much of a Joe Six-pack she is. I am guessing not much of one.

No, Sarah, we're not mad about you being an 'average American', or even an 'outsider'; we're angry that you have the audacity to tout yourself as a leader given that you are so dangerously ignorant.

P.S. If Americans are stupid enough to elect this moron, our country is truly lost.

Yeah, we had Bush six-pack American as PRESIDENT for 8 years. So its us American's being "unprepared" that is the problem.

I really thought it was HER lack of preparation for the job, especially after seeing "guy I would like to have a beer with" be President for 8 years.

You know, I am tired of sending ELITE people to the olympics every year. Lets have change and send Joe six-pack American in 2012.

That's great! What the world really needs right now is "Jill six-pack" running the free world. If that's the case why don't you elect my mechanic. He can REALLY fix things.

Right. Because Joe Six Pack can afford to laugh off a $20,000 loss in stocks.

    What. An. Idiot.

I don't even HAVE $20,000 – I'm living paycheck to paycheck. She certainly doesn't represent me.

Actually, we just spent the last 8 years with a "normal six-pack American" as president, and it's been catastrophic.

  20. Been there done that!!!

We had Joe six pack aka Bush and look at the economy, healthcare, the two wars and he seems like he could care less. So been there done that, we don't need the lady version.

We've have had eight years to get an up close and personal look at what happens when we send Joe Six Pack to the White House. Amazing that we're even having this debate.

Through Iraq, Katrina and now Wall Street, our leaders have demonstrated zero leadership and now voters are seriously giving McCain/Palin a run at they keys to the White House?

The only possible upside I can see in a McCain/Palin presidency is non-stop comedy for SNL, David Letterman and Stephen Colbert.

First of all, I don't want a normal Joe six-pack American in the position of Vice President. I don't want to go bowling with the Vice President. I want the VP to have a brain and carry the respect that the office demands. She's such an idiot!

Also, I cannot stand these self righteous right wing talkers. The criticism of Palin have come from all sides, including the most conservative talking heads in the business. But let's demonize the "liberals" because it speaks to our audience better and keeps the base juiced up.

Oh gosh miss Palin yes... that's why you frighten me... because you are a regular person who just lives an ordinary life.

It has nothing to do with your wolf-killing, tongues speaking, evolution-hating, book-banning, jingoistic, black-and-white-seeing way of running a government.

Be warned everyone! Sarah Palin has put all of us smarty pants liberal types on warning. Joe six pack has our number... and she means to deliver. I'm so sorry I ever doubted you and your uninteresting husband.

  25. Florida Loves Palin!

Exactly to the point! Yes, some of us out here are interested in having a regular person in the VP slot. That's the change we need!

Not the Palin Hatin' media elite and their tiresome tirades. To use Barack O'Present's complaints: Spare me the phony outrage intellectual liberals!
