You have to admit – it's pretty timely and funny. People tend to dwell and the smallest missteps even though they really should have more bearing on the issues and dilemnas at hand and who we elect to lead this country through them. If people were more actively engaged in the political process and held their elected officials accountable, we wouldn't be in such turmoil like we are today. People need to quit the party blame-game and realize both sides are responsible.

Lets just be clear about this... the republican's are so desparate at this point, that they're doing all they can to stage the expectations of this debate in order to convince america that a B+ performance from a straight A student (Biden) is somehow on par with a C+ performance from a D-average student (Palin). ("grades" based on past-media performances... not intelligence for all you haters out there)
Lets try to focus on what she says people, not by how much improvement we've seen since last week.

I like the ad except the part where he told the guy in the wheelchair to stand up. That one was not a gaffe, so much as just an honest mistake that could happen to anyone. I'm sure Biden felt really awkward about that.

People have been making fun of the supposed gaffe about FDR on TV in 1929, but if you know the facts, it's not much of a gaffe at all.

You see, FDR was Governor of the state of New York in 1929, and he was, at that time, delivering the same sort of angry populist rants against the evil bankers that he delivered in his presidential inaugural, on the newsreels, in 1929. Even though 1929 was before he won the presidency, after the fact it's still customary to attach the honorific "president" to his name, even when referring to events prior to his presidency. Check Vanderbilt or the etiquette expert of your choice if you doubt me.

So the substance of Biden's gaffe was that he referred to newsreels as TV. The point is that Biden knows the history, and the substance of what he said was true. This is characteristic of Biden gaffes; he gets himself into trouble by telling the truth as he sees/remembers it.

Now you can ask yourself: why do people get so much enjoyment out of taking shots at a man for speaking the truth? After that, you can try out: Am I the kind of person who likes to takes shots at a man for telling the truth?

We can't be responsible for the stupid things other people say and do, but who is the person you see in your mirror?
