From

ST LOUIS, Missouri (CNN) – He's in an awkward position...Biden voted for the use of force in Iraq, Obama came out against it from the beginning.

Watch: 'We will end this war,' Biden says

It's a problem that he shares with Hillary Clinton.

She has to step down. Is she really so "folksy" or just trying to treat Americans like they are all "JoesixPack"??

What a joke

Betty   October 2nd, 2008 10:20 pm ET

I can"t stand to listen to Biden talk. He as changed his postition to suite Obama. Just 9 months ago he was bashing Obama on all theses things now he is agreeing with him. Palin is doing great!

Aaron   October 2nd, 2008 10:20 pm ET

She keeps winking at me, do you think she likes me?

Rich from Oklahoma   October 2nd, 2008 10:20 pm ET

Who believes Biden hangs out at Home Depot?

Donna   October 2nd, 2008 10:20 pm ET

Considering how Bush lied to Congress about the reasons we were going to war I am not surprised that Biden voted for the war..as long as he NOW realizes that was a mistake and has since shown that he is for getting out there I don't see the big deal about him and Barack having a difference of opinion back then...

Folks can grow and learn the facts and change their minds...I don't want my VP to be a "follower" of the President 100% of the time....

GO BIDEN!!!!!!!!

PaulMoATX   October 2nd, 2008 10:20 pm ET

Only one difference, Biden isn't running for President. McCain was wrong for the 1st 5 years, lets call it bad judgment. Good try Bill.

Nihal   October 2nd, 2008 10:20 pm ET

A quick comment – Rollins is crazy 44 positive points to Palin. Hold on OR you will be out of points soon.

BlackMan4Mac   October 2nd, 2008 10:20 pm ET

It is pretty obvious that biden-obama is the war mongers, did you hear how much new war he proposed ???

andre   October 2nd, 2008 10:20 pm ET

Roland Martin won't show any counterpoints to his far-left views. CNN When you going to get rid of him?

Lynn X-democrat for McCain   October 2nd, 2008 10:20 pm ET

After tonight thier should be clear that Gov. Palin is the better person for the Job of VP. Biden is lost for words and just like Obama when he can't come up with a statement he make's something up!!

Excellent Job Gov. Palin!!!!!

Thom Ingram   October 2nd, 2008 10:20 pm ET

I would rather have someone like Joe Biden who honestly disagrees with his running mate than someone who "doggone it" will always agree with John McCain.
I've heard you, Bill, disagree with your coworkers and you're still there.

Sharron   October 2nd, 2008 10:20 pm ET

Biden is wiping the floor with her on foreign policy. She sounds like she is spouting off memorized talking points. Biden sounds like he's been there and knows what the heck is going on.

And what's up with her almost chastising Biden? She reminds me of Dolores Umbridge in Harry Potter! She's annoying as all get out!

Delali   October 2nd, 2008 10:20 pm ET

But the difference with Biden and to McCain is that Biden later realized the truth about the war and spoke out against it.

voter   October 2nd, 2008 10:20 pm ET

Biden said he regretted his vote. Hillary did not. Second, he wants to end the war while McCain does not. this is important.

mgb408   October 2nd, 2008 10:20 pm ET

I agree with you Jonny!!...when is she ever gonna answer a question!!!!!..and did i just hear her agree with Cheney?? even the republicans dont agree with cheney!!

Hans   October 2nd, 2008 10:19 pm ET

Gov. Palin is doing better than expected. But i think everything is rehearsed and she doesn't seem to be natural. She just memorized everything that Sean Hannity and Rush limbaugh are saying on The radio and tv. Simple. Everything suggeted her to raised and asked she had raised them.

Hillary Supporter for McCain/Palin   October 2nd, 2008 10:19 pm ET

hmmm – you have two people agreeing with the war, something has to be going on that two people make the same vote and Obama says no, while he is not on the Senate where it could be recorded and held accountable!

Inquiring minds would love to know!!! Obama's record one-year in the Senate, two-years runing for US Presidency!

Emilio   October 2nd, 2008 10:19 pm ET

So Biden was wrong, thats why he's doing one debate as VP and Obama is doing 3 as President.

MARK - FL   October 2nd, 2008 10:19 pm ET

NO two face there MOVING FORWARD Biden sees the same Views as Obama!

huh!   October 2nd, 2008 10:19 pm ET

Did you not wait for the answer?

Independent conservative   October 2nd, 2008 10:19 pm ET

I thought this article was about Biden, not Palin...you liberals kill me!

Barney   October 2nd, 2008 10:19 pm ET

She keeps changing the subject – NO WAY

bobbi   October 2nd, 2008 10:19 pm ET

no to palin, joe it's all yours tonight.

Ms Linda   October 2nd, 2008 10:19 pm ET

I agree with Jonny. Why she keeps referring to her executive experience is beyond me. We have all been where she is and if not, at some point we will. She's not convincing me that she is VP material.

Julia W.   October 2nd, 2008 10:19 pm ET

As for the war vote, almost everyone in DC voted to go into Iraq based on the Bush administrations lies. I bet if those who voted for the war knew then what they know now, the vote would have been different.

mike   October 2nd, 2008 10:19 pm ET

why does she not answer hardly any of the questions

Liz   October 2nd, 2008 10:19 pm ET

Just keep in mind that they voted to ALLOW GB to go to war if... they weren't expecting him to just go to war, which is what he did. and remember that we only know one small piece of what was in the item they voted for.

Jason in Juneau   October 2nd, 2008 10:19 pm ET

It's been amazing if she's actually answered a question.

Jennifer Hull   October 2nd, 2008 10:19 pm ET

Why is such a disaster for him to have voted for the war, as a LOT of Senators and Congressmen did, based on false intelligence fed to them by the Bush Administration and in the fearful aftermath of 9/11. I don't hold that against him OR Hillary. they have had the moral courage to admit it was a mistake, a mistake we are all still paying for.

chad in florida   October 2nd, 2008 10:19 pm ET

Oh god, I can't watch this much longer. She is so bad, it would be funny if it wasn't so scary that this lady could actually become president.

Tiff in STL   October 2nd, 2008 10:19 pm ET

I don't exspect all views that Biden and Obama share to be exactly the same.

Han Solo   October 2nd, 2008 10:19 pm ET

Are Bosniacs like Animaniacs?

What is that Biden gaffe #8? I lost count.

Richie   October 2nd, 2008 10:18 pm ET

Does she not know what an Achilles heel is???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Jramos   October 2nd, 2008 10:18 pm ET

agree with jonny, she sounds like shes reading a speech , OVER rehearsed.

kim   October 2nd, 2008 10:18 pm ET

WAKE UP AMERICA, how dumb can someone be to vote for Palin, God help us if she is in the White House just becasue she is a woman.

minneapolis   October 2nd, 2008 10:18 pm ET

Why does she keep winking? Flirting might work in a beauty pageant, but it doesn't win voters. Tina Fey is going to rip her a new one this weekend.

DanT   October 2nd, 2008 10:18 pm ET

Agreed on Iraq legacy, but this election is now over economy- as it was for Clinton in 1992 & 1996. McCain-Palin cannot address issues that are largely caused by their financial base. The old tactics of wedge issues in the so-called culture war just won't fly in '08.

dallas Mike   October 2nd, 2008 10:18 pm ET

actually he voted to give George Bush the option to use force in Iraq.

judy   October 2nd, 2008 10:18 pm ET

The war is a problem but Obama will be the president! Palin is like a robot, repeating the pubby lines.

yellowgal   October 2nd, 2008 10:18 pm ET

Speaking well and actually knowing what your talking about is two different things. No comparison to Biden....on target.

tc in wa   October 2nd, 2008 10:18 pm ET

In the beginning, the request for war in Iraq was mis-represented by President Bush. I'm surprised more Senators did not approve the war from the beginning.

TexicoFrom Mexico   October 2nd, 2008 10:18 pm ET

I hope you over at CNN report this as it is....she side stepped questions, where was the debating? it was like she was stumping....this is pathetic!

Steve Pierson   October 2nd, 2008 10:18 pm ET

Seriously.... Palin is getting smoked tonight. She is REALLY coming across as someone whom scares me to think she is a blink away from being our President. She sounds completely illiterate, scared and is extremely timid.

Michael in Texas   October 2nd, 2008 10:18 pm ET

So, are we saying that people can't change opinions? We all know that going into Iraq was a mistake. If ANYONE who voted for the use of force in Iraq came out and said "You know what, I messed up, I'm sorry and I've learned from my mistake", THAT would be ideal.

Carrie Pa   October 2nd, 2008 10:18 pm ET

I love it that Vice President Cheney is finally being mention in the debates.

EBC, Boyds, MD   October 2nd, 2008 10:18 pm ET

BIDEN IS KICKING BUTT!!! Gov. Sarah Palin babbled too much.... she kept talking about HER governorship which is NOT the issue. I found Sarah Palin to continue to talk in nothing but 'BRUSH STROKES". She kept repeating herself and certain words over and over. It was very predictable. She talked way too much and came off as a woman doing nothing but "spinning snow balls".

WAY TO GO SEN. BIDEN!!!

Citizen   October 2nd, 2008 10:18 pm ET

To Biden's credit he has not been attacking Sarah Palin and showing her to be the airhead that she really is. Palin is a complete dunce with an incredibly annoying voice.

Marylou   October 2nd, 2008 10:18 pm ET

he was mislead, as was Hillary...by Bush. Biden is outscoring Palin on every issue...she doesn't even have a good command of the English Language. She actually makes Bush look intelligent..

How can this be?   October 2nd, 2008 10:18 pm ET

I would like to vote: Biden/Palin. I don't like Obama and I can barely stand McCain. These two don't make me gag, though.

Biden/Palin 2008

RoRo   October 2nd, 2008 10:17 pm ET

Great Veep in Six pack Joe!!!!!!! ha ha ha

Erica C.   October 2nd, 2008 10:17 pm ET

He's not 2-faced!!!!!!!! It's call a difference in opinion plus there are provisions attached to a lot of these things. Can we get a fact-checker!!!

From the North   October 2nd, 2008 10:17 pm ET

Oh fergawdsakes. He voted for the faux bill that supported the war but which purported to be much more limited.

How is she blathering about education now? And how could she say Joe's wife's reward would be 'in heaven' given that he's already lost a wife?

Bill, I usually like you but you seem to be viewing purty Sarah through rose-coloured (i.e. foggy) goggles.

Now she's really off script again. She falls further off each answer. It's clear in all her answers that she's reciting, not actually answering words that her own brain has constructed for her.

debbie   October 2nd, 2008 10:17 pm ET

Sarah is on her game and ready to go!

Julia W.   October 2nd, 2008 10:17 pm ET

She has a degree in journalism therefore trained in the art of communication. She is a communicator but she is not qualified to be anywhere near the WH except as a visitor.

Theresa Hernandez   October 2nd, 2008 10:17 pm ET

McCain and now Pallin have said we will not leave Irag without winning? Someone please ask them What are we trying to WIN???? I don't see what we are trying to win.....

in Oregon   October 2nd, 2008 10:17 pm ET

Not as awkward as Palin's position, which is knowing nothing but slogans.

Her candidacy as VP is a farce. They taught her to parrot some names mixed with "talking points"-and she says she's a maverick!

No, Sarah, you are a puppet.

Xavier   October 2nd, 2008 10:17 pm ET

Ryan,
Before you call anybody a two face, look at McCain. He has worn several faces during this whole campaign season.

Richie   October 2nd, 2008 10:17 pm ET

GO JOE! Take us to law school!

Tim   October 2nd, 2008 10:17 pm ET

I think he clearly explained his vote Schneider.

jm from sc   October 2nd, 2008 10:17 pm ET

If this was new information then it would be a problem. Palin is in an awkward position as it is clear that she do not know any thing that wasn't drilled in her during this week.

Only a fool will be fooled.

Obama/Biden 08

priya   October 2nd, 2008 10:17 pm ET

Palin is rattling away like a parrot, and God I hate her smile, and also when she talks in a soft tone like telling a story to a 4 year old!

Barney   October 2nd, 2008 10:17 pm ET

She hasn't a clue to whom she is speaking

No WAY

nose4news   October 2nd, 2008 10:17 pm ET

Wow...."Jonny" ....You hit the nail on the head:
Almost none of her comments have been her own spontaneous thoughts.

Leesa   October 2nd, 2008 10:17 pm ET

CNN, the focus group concept is excellent, and the technology is cutting edge, I am sure the info gathered at this session will be very beneficial moving forward, however, the dial being constantly at the bottom of the screen is very distracting.

Accountant Guy   October 2nd, 2008 10:17 pm ET

Palin does a good impression of a robot!! Joe is doing awesome and actually giving plans and answers!!

Obama/Biden '08

J. Edward   October 2nd, 2008 10:17 pm ET

Since when is it bad to change ones view in the face of new information

ines   October 2nd, 2008 10:17 pm ET

I think he's doing a great job – He is so many levels above Palin on substance it's not even funny.

Mark   October 2nd, 2008 10:16 pm ET

Biden should have sent Hillary to talk for him , because he is bad!! Gov. Palin looks like a great Leader!! Thanks for making our mind up for us tonight , were voting for McCain and Palin 2008!!!

AKPerera   October 2nd, 2008 10:16 pm ET

I do not blame Biden – heck, I was for he war in the beginning. There were several "smoke screens" presented by the Bush administration, which confused several people. However, he now knows it is time to pull out and allow Iraq to take control of their country.

Charlotte in NC   October 2nd, 2008 10:16 pm ET

Biden is doing a great job of responding in substance. He's somewhat at a disadvantage...what would they say about him if he looked at her and said "there you go again, Sarah..." She is too cute by half.

Chan   October 2nd, 2008 10:16 pm ET

If Palin parents and grandparents were teacher it is obvious, they did not teach her much!!!

Griff   October 2nd, 2008 10:16 pm ET

Barack Obama? Did not come out, against it.. You keep saying this, because he does... He did not Vote!

CLS in VT   October 2nd, 2008 10:16 pm ET

Not at all, as Biden has admitted that the information he was given was wrong and he would not have voted that way if intelligence had not been flawed

Hopeful Floridian   October 2nd, 2008 10:16 pm ET

save the USA!!! This woman is an idiot! She can't answer a question, her smiling and winking is driving me insane and her whiney voice adds to my irritation with her lack of intelligence! Does she realize that she is running for a VP position not a beauty queen?? I am a woman and I am insulted by how she portrays woman.

OBAMA/BIDEN

Zion   October 2nd, 2008 10:16 pm ET

There is not one person who can spin this debate to even give the appearance that she did great....

Richie   October 2nd, 2008 10:16 pm ET

Does she agree with Cheney.... apparently so. Wow. She is going to be COPRESIDENT! OMG

Sam   October 2nd, 2008 10:16 pm ET

yea...when Hillary did it it was horrible. But with Biden it's ok? When Hillary had 7 years in the Senate and 8 with her husband in the white house it was too much time in Washington...but Biden's 35 years isnt?

This hypocricy is why this Clintocrat is voting McCain.

dustin   October 2nd, 2008 10:16 pm ET

but he's on the ticket that was right, Obama was the one who said it was a bad idea before anyone, the other side is swinging 0 for 2

Ryan   October 2nd, 2008 10:16 pm ET

So much for change. When Obama had to decide between change and experience, he chose experience. So should we.

McCAIN 08

alexa   October 2nd, 2008 10:16 pm ET

good point!!

Annette   October 2nd, 2008 10:16 pm ET

It's hard to believe that the GOP, takes Gov. Palin seriously????? They really have a low impression of the American people that will be voting Nov. 4th???

kim   October 2nd, 2008 10:16 pm ET

Make her stop winking and giving "shouts out" to anyone.

Xavier   October 2nd, 2008 10:16 pm ET

Palin comes across as a nice person, but she isnt presidential, or vice-presidential material.

Dennis Smith   October 2nd, 2008 10:16 pm ET

The bigger problem is he is a Washington RAT. Palin is slapping him left and right.

Barney   October 2nd, 2008 10:15 pm ET

She just brought up the Constitution – let's go there.

HA HA HA HA HA she doesn't stand a chance

Jenna   October 2nd, 2008 10:15 pm ET

I don't think she really knows what it is to be a vice president. Sounds like she sidestepped a simple question!

Ryan   October 2nd, 2008 10:15 pm ET

He's completely 2-faced!!!

nate (Chapel Hill, NC)   October 2nd, 2008 10:15 pm ET

Thanks Bill. What a salient point.

jonny   October 2nd, 2008 10:15 pm ET

Wow. Its soooo obvious when Palin is reciting a speech compared to when she is speaking from her own thoughts. When she recites a speech she looks at the camera and speaks well. When she speaks from her own thoughts she looks away from the camera and talks more in slurs and with a very strong accent.

Almost none of her comments have been her own spontaneous thoughts.
