Was Palin misleading with funding charge?

ST LOUIS, Missouri (CNN) – Palin is bringing up Biden's comments from the Democratic primaries when he was critical of Obama's vote against an Iraq troop funding bill. But many of the troops funding bills included other provisions, like troops withdrawal timetables.

Biden responds by mentioning that McCain also voted against the troop funding bill, which did include a timetable.

Palin counter attacks by saying that Biden wants to wave the white flag in Iraq. Biden responds by lumping McCain with Vice President Cheney and saying that McCain has been dead wrong on the war.

Palin does not really know anything about Secretary Rice...

Andrea E-Atlanta   October 2nd, 2008 9:55 pm ET

Bill,
This all sounds like her convention speech.

Eryka   October 2nd, 2008 9:55 pm ET

After Palin's "I'm glad we agree on Israel" Biden looked like he wanted to punch her! OMG how obnoxious.

ines   October 2nd, 2008 9:55 pm ET

Biden knows his stuff. Palin knows how to twist facts.

LS   October 2nd, 2008 9:55 pm ET

wow . . . I believe after tonight, there is no doubt, it is over for McCain.

This is horrible, seriously horrible.

Palin shouldn't have accepted McCain's offer of VP. There is too much at stake to hand over America's critical crisis in the hands of Palin. Darn McCain for putting America at risk by picking Palin.

Jerry   October 2nd, 2008 9:55 pm ET

Palin just gives non-answers, and serves up doublespeak like moose stew. Biden has made her look completely silly and unfit for the Vice Presidency. This thing is over!

OBAMA/BIDEN '08!!!

AD   October 2nd, 2008 9:55 pm ET

Despite Biden having clarified this TWICE now with her, and the viewing public, she just keeps repeating the same line of stinking crud.

If you repeat it enough, Sarah, SOMEONE is bound to believe you.

john l   October 2nd, 2008 9:54 pm ET

Palin knows nothing about ending the war in iraq. shes clueless

Barney   October 2nd, 2008 9:54 pm ET

Oh good heavens
She's nothing but an easily manipulated puppet for the person behind the scenes.

NO MORE

greg   October 2nd, 2008 9:54 pm ET

Biden is winning as far as facts. greg

Pat from Michigan   October 2nd, 2008 9:54 pm ET

Palin is constantly changing the subject and not answering the questions directly, just like she did with Katie. Some of her answers totally confused me as to what she said.

Chan   October 2nd, 2008 9:54 pm ET

Palin is just moving her jaws. She is not answering the question. She is saying what she remembers. Spare me.

Rmena   October 2nd, 2008 9:54 pm ET

McCain has been dead wrong. We are fighting in the wrong place. What a waste of time and resources.

Craig   October 2nd, 2008 9:54 pm ET

Go Palin Go! Joe said Obama wasn't ready to lead.....then got the call to be VP and miracle of miracles, now Obama is the next messiah....what a complete hypocrit!

Craig

Erica C.   October 2nd, 2008 9:54 pm ET

The funding bill was voted against by McCain....she did not even know that!

OBAMA'08   October 2nd, 2008 9:54 pm ET

As Americans we know that republicans say a lot of things but in thier core's they don't confidently support!

ken cultraro   October 2nd, 2008 9:54 pm ET

Why cannot either of these people answer a direct question with a direct answer? All this shows is that both of them are POLITICIANS!

Tiff of lithia springs   October 2nd, 2008 9:54 pm ET

That would be leading with emotion and not using our head based on facts.
That's that Joe 6 pack mentality. She might not say that if she had a real degree.

Don   October 2nd, 2008 9:54 pm ET

Hey CNN...is it your job tonight to try and destroy Palin??? Seems to me that Palin is doing great, but the majority of your headlines have been attacks on Palin. Americans are tired of politicians like Obama and Biden..Palin is what this country needs...a real person who is not afraid to speak.

PL   October 2nd, 2008 9:53 pm ET

Sec. Rice held a meeting with one side or the other?????????????? This lady scares me.

Jason from PA   October 2nd, 2008 9:53 pm ET

Is it a good idea for a vice presidential candidate to mention that the leader of another country is "not sane"? I mean, no one over here likes the guy (Iran) but name calling is a little beneath the office. I wonder if she will ever have to sit and negotiate with this "not sane" individual.

Slash   October 2nd, 2008 9:53 pm ET

It's as misleading as you can be without lying. McCain did the same thing, and like Obama, did it with regards to timetables, not a blanket yes-or-no. You can't use half a fact and ignore the other, Palin.

Daniel   October 2nd, 2008 9:53 pm ET

fact check on the Biden Comment regarding mccain Opposing Military funding for troops within the timeline.

:)

Amy   October 2nd, 2008 9:53 pm ET

Go Joe! Treat her just as you would treat a man. When she's wrong tell her she's wrong and why she's wrong. Please don't treat her with kid gloves.

Achille Salesh   October 2nd, 2008 9:53 pm ET

She's already out of the tracks.
She haven't requested to argue with the point on Spain, Mccain said he's not gonna seat with the government !

Fitzpatrick   October 2nd, 2008 9:53 pm ET

WHAT IS VICTORY? GETTING OUR MONEY BACK??? OR CONTINUE TO POUR OUR MONEY THERE?????

Jose   October 2nd, 2008 9:53 pm ET

waving a white flag? who are we fighting against? who would be declared victorious?? the Rep. dont even know who's our opponent in Iraq anymore.

Kathryn   October 2nd, 2008 9:53 pm ET

She is so out of touch, I speak from experience that soldiers on the ground would not consider a withdraw "waving a white flag". They don't know what they are fighting for, they are tired of Back Door drafts and they wat out!!

Kim J   October 2nd, 2008 9:53 pm ET

I don't think I'm watching the same debate as the rest of you. Biden is doing his typical rambling.

Latifah   October 2nd, 2008 9:52 pm ET

hmmm, Palin is being misleading about the actual facts that Biden used when he was running for democratic pres spot? I guess the facts that Biden was using were misleading, hmmm

Lynne   October 2nd, 2008 9:52 pm ET

Misdirection....don't pay attention to WHY he voted no, just that he did...maybe he voted no because there was more funding for the bridge to nowhere attached.

Richie   October 2nd, 2008 9:52 pm ET

What is it with her and a second Holocaust? Is this the one historical event that she knows about or what?

njwoman   October 2nd, 2008 9:52 pm ET

I wish I knew why anybody believes by speaking misleading statements often enough, they will become true? this topic has been brought up and corrected even last week in the presidential debate. Same charge, same response, and fact check confirmed the response was correct. why repeat misleading charges?

Ajay   October 2nd, 2008 9:52 pm ET

Palin is ignored Pakistan question

Jason   October 2nd, 2008 9:52 pm ET

McCain was against the timetable. Of course, he wants the war to go on for 100 years, remember?

amanda   October 2nd, 2008 9:52 pm ET

Is she ever gonna answer a question clearly? And seriously she needs to stop saying ya and getcha

NG   October 2nd, 2008 9:52 pm ET

Palin mentioned "victory" several times but I didn't hear a definition of what she means by that. Wasn't she briefed on what they mean by victory?

Suzanne   October 2nd, 2008 9:52 pm ET

Did she say it was General Petraeus who said Al-Qaeda was in Iraq? Really?

special needs mom   October 2nd, 2008 9:52 pm ET

How many names of world leaders can she fit into one sentence? And, then add Henry Kissinger!

James   October 2nd, 2008 9:52 pm ET

All Palin has are talking points that are put into her tiny head. She has no original thoughts at all.

Stefan   October 2nd, 2008 9:52 pm ET

Biden has forgotten about sarah he is going after Mccain.Sarah is just slipping

Ted   October 2nd, 2008 9:51 pm ET

My goodness – it's a disease!! She can't pronounce `nuclear`either!!

Honest Abe   October 2nd, 2008 9:51 pm ET

She's being misleading on everything – and still refuses to answer any questions! What's up with her?

Han Solo   October 2nd, 2008 9:50 pm ET

Biden is so misrepresenting McCain’s NO vote for the troops. He voted NO because of the timeline, which was the fundamental idiocy of that bill.
