From

ST LOUIS, Missouri (CNN) - Reform, corruption, maverick...these are words that Palin often uses, but she needs to define them.

Filed under: Bill Schneider • Vice presidential debate

EAM   October 2nd, 2008 10:38 pm ET

So if you don't answer the question you didn't really participate in the debate.

Anonymous   October 2nd, 2008 10:38 pm ET

Asking a republican to define their terms is a useless endeavor...there is no depth behind the words...i learned that way back with Nixon..

Alex   October 2nd, 2008 10:38 pm ET

Your kidding right? "she needs to define them" ?

I have an idea, why don't people look those words up in that "Dictionary" they are talking about and find out what they mean themselves. Palin presented herself very well, and many of you are upset because of that. You didn't get the flop you were expecting so your picking at ever word to find a reason to dislike her still. You want "Reform, corruption, maverick" defined, maybe you should look it up and see what Palin is talking about for once instead of being puppets to the liberal media. You do have a brain, and you can think for yourself.

Matt   October 2nd, 2008 10:37 pm ET

That was soo, soo, i don't even know. When Palin was grilled with cold hard facts, she immediatly changed the subject, or spewed hockey mom bullux.

Soccer Mom   October 2nd, 2008 10:37 pm ET

Palin, I’m a soccer mom and I’m not voting for McCain!

Geraldine   October 2nd, 2008 10:37 pm ET

Sarah Palin sounds like a broken record. No matter the question, she and her running mate are mavericks. I have no idea what this means. Has anyone asked her for specific examples of what a maverick does and why we should want a maverick when our economy is the worst in my 58 years. I'm terrified of having an irratic man in the white house. Now that she compares herself to Cheney I'm really scared. Is Cheney a Maverick???

Em   October 2nd, 2008 10:37 pm ET

Palin won hands down.

JEW FOR OBAMA   October 2nd, 2008 10:37 pm ET

Biden coninually called Sarah Palin out on the lack of facts and coherence of her statements. Also, Biden knows exactly what he is talking about when it comes to Israel...Israelis and Jews around the world (and Florida) do not worry!

Jason   October 2nd, 2008 10:37 pm ET

She can't!! She doesn't know what those things mean!

chucky   October 2nd, 2008 10:37 pm ET

I think Sara did very well, although she didn't answer a lot of the questions she held her own. but i still wouldn't vote for her....her tickets policies are too scary.

X-democrat for McCain   October 2nd, 2008 10:36 pm ET

Biden was begging everyone to vote for Obama?? What a Joke!!! The democrats have no idea what to do !! Gov. Palin was excellent!!

Shelton   October 2nd, 2008 10:36 pm ET

Wow, what a mess. Let's hear it for apple pie and Joe six pack. Personally, I take that as a great big affront. If she gets any more down home Mayberry, we can all sit on the back porch and go fishing and ah shucks, just one of us soccor moms trying to rule the world.

Anonymous   October 2nd, 2008 10:35 pm ET

the sad thing is, people are still going to vote for her because they >>think<< she did well- aka she could do more then just stay her name.

Griff   October 2nd, 2008 10:35 pm ET

So because she is from Alaska! She is Obsolete? A "New Language"? You should learn,,

Photodiva   October 2nd, 2008 10:34 pm ET

She had to make sure that she stuck to her script.

Oren   October 2nd, 2008 10:34 pm ET

Gov. Palin: "I don't know about mortgage, so lets go back to energy."

LetMeTakeYourBuzzWord   October 2nd, 2008 10:34 pm ET

Palin talks of wanting to speak 'straight up' to the American people – yet what she has done is skirt around the issues and fail to give the people specifics. I felt like was dealing a shady car salesman.

BTW, what is up with Rollins giving Palin +48??

dtk   October 2nd, 2008 10:33 pm ET

I could not understand bit of what she said, but the couched bull. This woman is a joke. there is no comparison b/n Joe and Her. she is totally out of it.

New Day   October 2nd, 2008 10:33 pm ET

I wanna hear all the right-wing loonies complain about the moderator now....

TARUN KAKANI   October 2nd, 2008 10:33 pm ET

Palin is a very good story teller....look at her dramatics...We are not here to hear "GOOD TALK" or "SLOGANS".

All of us know, how to boost up ourselves, we dont need a story teller to infuse optimisim in us.

She better wait in queue for VP longer. I like her. But am sorry, she is absolutely " a blank mind"

Patz   October 2nd, 2008 10:33 pm ET

the new campaing Obama/Biden vs. Marverick/Maverick. Is there any speech given by the republican party that does not include the word Maverick.

Crystal Dunton   October 2nd, 2008 10:33 pm ET

Vice President Debate Feedback...I felt like the 'moderator' was completely out of control...she allowed Gov. Sarah Palin to go on and on, without ever offering substance or an actual answer to the questions asked. She also allowed way to much political posturing, it was like watching an info-mercial about each candidate. I was most disappointed.

phorse   October 2nd, 2008 10:32 pm ET

7 times. She said Maverick 7 times. I was hoping for nine so that it would be every ten minutes!

Trey   October 2nd, 2008 10:32 pm ET

Palin is a nonsensical person. I mean she's actually dumber than I thought. With my fellow Americans not being that bright either I hope they don't fall for this crap.

Han Solo   October 2nd, 2008 10:32 pm ET

>these are words that Palin often uses, but she needs to define them.

Call me when Obama actually defines "Change" and maybe you will have a point.

Jamal   October 2nd, 2008 10:32 pm ET

To me I thought in the beginning she was scripting her rally speech saying the same things as she does at her rally speech. Joe Biden is the man

JImmy in California   October 2nd, 2008 10:32 pm ET

Joe Biden is good. I think he knocked it out the ball park tonight. Gov. Palin could not hold her own against Biden even though she tried. She is not qualified to be the next VP.

Gohar Haneef   October 2nd, 2008 10:32 pm ET

She did not make ONE straight point or answered a direct question!!!! Just repeated the same rehearsed answers over and over again...But I must say one positive thing atleast...Whoever helped her with the cramming did one heck of a good job!!!!

OBAMA/BIDEN 08

Leesa   October 2nd, 2008 10:32 pm ET

Bill I agree, I won"t be comfortable if Gov. Palin were to become President in the slim event that the Rep ticket won and Sen McCain could not fulfil his duties

Thomas   October 2nd, 2008 10:31 pm ET

The outgoing commander of US troops in Iraq, Gen David Petraeus, has said that he will never declare victory there.
He said he did not know that he would ever use the word "victory": "This is not the sort of struggle where you take a hill, plant the flag and go home to a victory parade... it's not war with a simple slogan."

SC   October 2nd, 2008 10:31 pm ET

Here is the response to the person with the username "How can this be?" You don't have to ask Obama to define "HOPE'. That's not his. Bill Clinton started it and it is also where he was born and raised in Arkansa. They do have a small little place called "HOPE" in Arkansas. Just to be fair, if you are thinking about asking Obama to define "HOPE," you ought to ask McCaine to define "CHANGE" that he has recently been talking about.

LT   October 2nd, 2008 10:31 pm ET

Ill define maverick.....the guy who is willing to make a quick flash and dangerous decision with the hope it will turn out right............

Yeah John McCain is a Maverick. Unfortunately sometimes the plane crashes........sometimes you get a Palin........but you know we'll all just hope it turns out OK

Punam   October 2nd, 2008 10:31 pm ET

She only knows "maverick" and "I have a diverse family". That's what she's been using all debate long! Goodness gracious!

CJ Harris   October 2nd, 2008 10:31 pm ET

I Don't feel that she know what she is to do as the VP . She should step down

Steve   October 2nd, 2008 10:31 pm ET

Maybe she could define what she means when she calls me "Joe six pack" american. I don't know if I should be insulted or not but I think I am.

Betsy   October 2nd, 2008 10:31 pm ET

Likewise, the Obama camp needs to define CHANGE. Vague, emotional appeals like CHANGE will only go so far.

Ish   October 2nd, 2008 10:31 pm ET

SP rehearsed only these words during her rehearsal sessions. For God sake someone please tell her to answer the questions and what the group of mavericks going to do for the country..

Mary   October 2nd, 2008 10:30 pm ET

who said McCain was a Maverick? They taught her that word well. I am so glad Biden finally called her on that silly claim. Palin just keeps going over the same points – her index cards have been used twice by now. Biden is great at knowing his stuff!

perplexed   October 2nd, 2008 10:30 pm ET

Is this a contest for miss congeniality? She is being CUTE and smiling.. I want answers NOT lip gloss!

joey darley   October 2nd, 2008 10:30 pm ET

Joe Biden is such a LIAR and all you Liberals are sheep drinking the kool aid they are serving you . I Pray God intervenes and Mcain wins.
God helps us if Obama wins

Robin   October 2nd, 2008 10:30 pm ET

SP sounds like Bush using "Evil" here and there. She has truly been versed. She is very scary as is McCain! She did not convince me! Joe is for real...

Casey   October 2nd, 2008 10:30 pm ET

About 30 times, i think i heard mavrick... Did she ever answer a question or just say "he's a mavrick"

Lauren Canada   October 2nd, 2008 10:29 pm ET

Sarah you keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means...

Roberta   October 2nd, 2008 10:29 pm ET

Palin is acting more like a middle school student. The expectations weren’t low enough. Did I fail to mention how she sounds like a robot? Someone please remove the defective memory chip.

Jocelyn   October 2nd, 2008 10:29 pm ET

She is unable to because her rhetoric is nothing more than a script.

dallas Mike   October 2nd, 2008 10:29 pm ET

Catch phrase politics is what the Republican base reacts to.
They claim to be "conservative" and spend us into the poor house.
They claim to be Christian and go out and do the exact oppisite of what Jesus taught.

As long the Right hears the correct catch phrase...they'll vote for them.

JImmy in California   October 2nd, 2008 10:29 pm ET

Palin = Stump speech at the end.

Jenna   October 2nd, 2008 10:29 pm ET

I think when it comes to defining terms, she probably could define the terms of people who were in the movie "Top Gun." Who is more "Ice Man" and who is more "Maverick"?

weird_henry   October 2nd, 2008 10:29 pm ET

I know one word or phrase Palin DOESN"T know the meaning of – it's ACHILLE'S HEEL!!! She didn't answer the question!

LOL< I know what McCain's Achille's Heel is...it's SARAH PALIN! Hahahaha

Tara   October 2nd, 2008 10:29 pm ET

Gov. Palin is making a complete mockary of this debate. A person can't get up on stage and say, "It's gonna be ok, ya know? John McCain is for change..." CHANGE? The SAME as Bush. This debate is a joke.

Obamacan   October 2nd, 2008 10:28 pm ET

HER TUTOR PROVIDED SOME UNDEFINED TERMS. THEY DONT KNOW HOW TO DEFINE.

New Day   October 2nd, 2008 10:28 pm ET

So Palin, as a VP, would appoint people??? :-D hahahahaha can she answer ANYTHING!?!?!?!

osas   October 2nd, 2008 10:28 pm ET

Palin is not strong enough she should step down

America think for you   October 2nd, 2008 10:28 pm ET

Joe Biden put that cheerleader out of words. America look at her debate answers she is clueless and not ready to lead this great nation. I do not know that if she did not answer the question asked but, she did not answer them directly. Joe Biden is the projected winner of that debate

Q Glenn   October 2nd, 2008 10:28 pm ET

She doesn't need to define them... She needs to go HOME!

lavora richard   October 2nd, 2008 10:28 pm ET

she can't define what she read in her notes!

Paul Lemelle   October 2nd, 2008 10:28 pm ET

I wish that Palin were able to answer the questions as oppose to going off to answers that has been stuffed into it. This debate has shown that Palin has been mishandled and over loaded with information, which is a shame. It's a shame because when Biden was expressing his heart regarding his lost wife and children, but yet Palin's response was to just repeat stat information.

.

Mr. Independant   October 2nd, 2008 10:28 pm ET

the Gov. is doing an understanding job?
she is just answering questions...
mediorcarcy is not what America needs now.
Yes, she did well but she is not no where near being a heart beat away...

Will   October 2nd, 2008 10:27 pm ET

Every time you don't know how to answer Palin, say we are in a great country and that John McCain is a Maverick, reform and corruption in a complete sentence.

JB   October 2nd, 2008 10:27 pm ET

what kind of definition do you want?

k   October 2nd, 2008 10:27 pm ET

A maverick is an unbranded range animal, especially a motherless calf; it can also mean a person who shows independence of thought or action

Jason, Rochester Hills,MI   October 2nd, 2008 10:27 pm ET

She would not be able to. She was GIVEN the words by her COACHES this past week.

Doubt me? Have Katie Couric ask her what dictionary she uses to define her terms, step back, and watch the sparks fly!

She would explode!

glenn nelson   October 2nd, 2008 10:27 pm ET

She is incredibly unprepared for this position

Blake   October 2nd, 2008 10:27 pm ET

Obama has failed to truly define most of what he has campaigned under, especially "change." He is quick to point out what is wrong, but he has been quite slow to explain what he will do to change things.

VMCal   October 2nd, 2008 10:27 pm ET

She will need to "get back to ya!"

j   October 2nd, 2008 10:27 pm ET

Palin doesn't answer the questions. She distorts the facts and she lies. She repeats the same nonsense over and over. John McCain's a maverick, John McCain's a maverick.... I'm tired of it.

I thought Biden looked weak at first but after an hour or so of this, at least he's giving real answers and he's gotten stronger as the night progresses. The fact that I've gotten so bored with Palin parroting the same responses over and over has worked in his favor.

Delali   October 2nd, 2008 10:27 pm ET

That's what I said...she is so rehearsed, it's not funny! And when she does not have the rehearsed answer she agrees with Biden and gave a one-liner!!! She may be good for Alaska, but she is not good the the USA.
Maybe 10-15 years down the road, she can come back. But now, she is not ready. Obama may not have the so-called "experience" but Obama knows what he is talking about when he is asked a question.

Maggie McMenamin   October 2nd, 2008 10:27 pm ET

Palin is doing an outstanding job...an outstanding job of showing how little she grasps the issues

yellowgal   October 2nd, 2008 10:27 pm ET

What is a maverick....how does the term apply to Palin.....Yes she may have champion corruption in Alaska.. Is that a maverick.

misleading the public on her involvment of the trooper investigation ...is that corruptions. and abuse of power....clear your name....

Miguel Quezada   October 2nd, 2008 10:27 pm ET

You are forgetting one!! Is anybody counting how many "ALSO" is Mrs. Palin Saying!!! I just changing her name Mrs.Sarah ALSO Palin!!!!!

Andrea'   October 2nd, 2008 10:27 pm ET

I believe that she is does need to define the terms. If I hear the Maverick one more time, I going to scream. Sarah Palin has not done a great job tonight. She is still scripted without the script.

Ray   October 2nd, 2008 10:26 pm ET

Just because you say you are a Maverick does not make you one. Joh McBush feels as if he says it often enough people will believe him. Just as Palin says things over and over (with the American People Knowing it was false) hoping that if she says it enough people will believe the false accusations she is making. I was a Republican until today. Honestly. I can not ask you enough to stay on FactCheck.org and the fact checking here on CNN and you too will become a Democrat, at least for this election...

Ray, Democrat for Now

keisha   October 2nd, 2008 10:26 pm ET

Sarah Palin is a joke. Even if she does become vice-president, McCain will make sure that she doesn't have any real "say-so". he's just using her.

Tarrah   October 2nd, 2008 10:26 pm ET

Roland Martin is doing what many people do....Sharing their opinion.

Palin-lost and not defining the terms she demands. And has anyone noticed her smiling? Her coaches should have warned her that smiling while talking about the Iraq war may not be such a good idea. Anyone that thinks that Gov. Palin is winning is clearly not listening. Someone instructed her to talk ALOT about what she has done is Alaska.

Lorraine   October 2nd, 2008 10:26 pm ET

Biden by far knows his "stuff". Gov Palin is basically giving a stump speech YAWN

Kimmie   October 2nd, 2008 10:26 pm ET

Alaska ... Alaska ... Alaska
She is running for VP of United States not Alaska how about the other states.

She has really avoid some many question come on ask the questions that are ask get off the energy all ready.

J. Smith   October 2nd, 2008 10:26 pm ET

I am a lifelong Republican, and I am embarrased by the choice of Gov. Palin and the possibility of her as VP. She is naive, rehearsed, mocking in demeanor and tone, and ignorant of issues and America's role in the world.

Frances   October 2nd, 2008 10:26 pm ET

Palin looks rehearsed, big time. She looks straight into the camera when it's a rehearsed answer and looks away when she needs to THINK. Watch her.

cmwalsh   October 2nd, 2008 10:26 pm ET

You are right on Bill. We can be so much better than this. The Governor should have more respect for us, or give it up if precision of language is beyond her abilities. What was McCain thinking? Not of his country!

Hillary Independent finally for Obama   October 2nd, 2008 10:26 pm ET

Sarah Palin is reading index cards........no doubt in my mind.

She has her talking points on paper, and she shuffles her index cards to "fit" a question.

I have SEEN her looking at them!

Thank God this "debate" is nearly over. I have understood very little of what Sarah Palin has said. I can't stand one more minute of her continuous confusing rhetoric.

nelson mcnarland   October 2nd, 2008 10:26 pm ET

30 seconds after palin starts to talk.is there anyone who understands what she said

Jack   October 2nd, 2008 10:26 pm ET

There haven't been any questions regarding Roe, newspapers, court cases, or dinosaurs. I s'pose it is a good night for the Guv.

bob dobbes   October 2nd, 2008 10:26 pm ET

She would need to understand the terms first.

Debbie   October 2nd, 2008 10:26 pm ET

She needs to dispense with using the word "maverick". It is her catch-all phrase when her rehearsed lines don't bubble up as quick answers. Thank goodness Biden clarified that when the issues matter, McCain is no maverick.

Anonymous   October 2nd, 2008 10:26 pm ET

wikipedia: "A maverick is an unbranded range animal, especially a motherless calf; it can also mean a person who shows independence of thought or action"

ny   October 2nd, 2008 10:26 pm ET

I'm not to sure with Palin. She really didn't answer some questions.

Daniel   October 2nd, 2008 10:26 pm ET

totally love it when she uses the term "maverick"

shes just soo wrong, and been proven wrong time and time again.

its just such an awsome treat watching this debate.

rachele   October 2nd, 2008 10:26 pm ET

Yes...please define...

Word count...How many times did she say Maverick, Alaska, Reform, washington outsider...

Did she say lipstick yet...She rambles on ...did she say E-bay yet?

Megan   October 2nd, 2008 10:26 pm ET

she is doing an outstanding job!!!!!

Tiffany Marin   October 2nd, 2008 10:26 pm ET

What's the count on how many times each presidential candidates name was used?

Barney   October 2nd, 2008 10:25 pm ET

let's get back to the constitution – she's clueless

John   October 2nd, 2008 10:25 pm ET

Buzz words...but they aren't working, only wearing me out...and they seem to come at a time when she really can't answer the question.

This is one un-informed vp candidate. I'm not so much upset at her, but upset at McCain for his pathetic vetting. Sorry, but I want an informed president, AND vice president.

Amikkel   October 2nd, 2008 10:25 pm ET

I'm starting to feel sorry for Gov. Palin. Her composure is continually being shaken by Sen. Biden and she just keeps repeating the same words that are quickly losing their meaning.

brad   October 2nd, 2008 10:25 pm ET

if she says maverick one more time – i'm gonna scream!!

JImmy in California   October 2nd, 2008 10:25 pm ET

And the winner by a knock out is Joe Biden. 90 minutes and no gaffes. Way to go Joe.

Obama Mama   October 2nd, 2008 10:25 pm ET

She can't...she has a list of stuff she was told to say. She doesn't have a clue.

Julia W.   October 2nd, 2008 10:25 pm ET

If she and McCain are such mavericks why aren't they Independents instead of Republicans?

jo   October 2nd, 2008 10:25 pm ET

what ......she can't say more than that becouse she doesn't know anything.

mgb408   October 2nd, 2008 10:25 pm ET

Thanks Bill – you shud have been a co moderator!!...we all know she is on some serious talking points!!!..cannot wait to hear what Gloria boergen ( sp) is going to say!

Anthony   October 2nd, 2008 10:25 pm ET

But they are mavericks yeah that tells me a lot about your answers to the questions. So what maverick things trully you've done? I've never seen a person avoid as many questions as Gov Palin has answering a question with a question what is your real answer.

Accountant Guy   October 2nd, 2008 10:25 pm ET

She can't define them because she was not taught that in camp!!

Obama/Biden '08

C.J.   October 2nd, 2008 10:25 pm ET

Reform, Corruption, Maverick, Main Street

These are the terms the media and the Dem's throw around all of the time, and you're saying she should define them?

Jason from PA   October 2nd, 2008 10:24 pm ET

Palin is going to reform the corruption of the term maverick in the Senate. OMG. She is greedily using terms fed to her by someone without any substance surrounding them. Poor lady. I almost feel sorry for her but I definitely feel sorry for us Americans.

DisgustedRepublican   October 2nd, 2008 10:24 pm ET

Palin quit using maverick, I am sick of that word.McCain is a hustler that is all.

john l   October 2nd, 2008 10:24 pm ET

We dont need anymore mavericks. george bush has been a huge failure and so will john mccain and sarah palin

what the?   October 2nd, 2008 10:24 pm ET

I'm really getting sick of hearing Palin call McCain a maverick. Does she not have any other word to describe him? And yes, define maverick so we can all be certain as to why it is such a good thing to be one.

Ike from PA   October 2nd, 2008 10:24 pm ET

Bill,

You couldn't be more correct! I only hear a bunch of talking points, and slogans. Everytime the opportunity comes to drill down on an issue, she somehow avoids the question or veers off the subject.

anna   October 2nd, 2008 10:24 pm ET

Palin REALLY needs to step down. The rest of the world has lost so much respect for the US, she would – or IS – only exponentiating that by opening her mouth with a sense of arrogant confidence.

Caroline   October 2nd, 2008 10:24 pm ET

Schneider, you are absolutely right. Joe is doing the job for her, by defining the terms..
Good job Joe..
OBAMA /BIDEN 08

Don   October 2nd, 2008 10:24 pm ET

looks like the liberals only have a few more minutes to pray for Palin to screw up during the debate. She's much more comfortable.

girrlgil, sanfrancisco   October 2nd, 2008 10:24 pm ET

I agree. I'm a woman, but don't think this VP job is for her. Hillary is way better. Sorry Governor Palin.

Chan   October 2nd, 2008 10:23 pm ET

She does not know the definition. She only needs what she was told.

slingen   October 2nd, 2008 10:23 pm ET

oh lord...she just goes on ....and on...please...did anyone see a forklift bring in her note cards prior to the start of this thing....

Kellen   October 2nd, 2008 10:23 pm ET

She would need to know what those words mean first Bill and I highly doubt she does.

Lennel   October 2nd, 2008 10:23 pm ET

Can she please stop saying the word Maverick?

More Palintology   October 2nd, 2008 10:23 pm ET

Vague words is all she has.

ines   October 2nd, 2008 10:23 pm ET

She is not defining anything. What she is doing is robotically spouting talking points and twisting the facts here and there.

A very hard sell Palin is trying to get across that McCain – Palin are the maverick ticket of change.

Justin   October 2nd, 2008 10:23 pm ET

Well, maybe she could define those "terms" when she decides to answer the topics in question rather than sidestep them.

Tiff in STL   October 2nd, 2008 10:23 pm ET

Exactly, what exactly does "maverick" mean to Palin? What does "Reform" really mean to Palin...

latrice   October 2nd, 2008 10:23 pm ET

she also use alaska governor alaska mayor alaska engery alaska ... get the point my eight year old has a more expanded vocabulary than she does

McAncient   October 2nd, 2008 10:23 pm ET

I think Joe Biden just won the election.. We saw emotion

am   October 2nd, 2008 10:23 pm ET

she keeps losing me by changing the subject. i have no idea what they are supposed to be talking about.

MARK - FL   October 2nd, 2008 10:23 pm ET

Palin = 1 BIG STUMP SPEECH! No Definition. No Specifics! No rebutal on the Points Biden made why because there is NONE!

Winnie in Montana   October 2nd, 2008 10:23 pm ET

Bill, she can't define them without her Websters. All I see she has is her note cards she's reading off of. I'm wondering how she has all of this written if the questions weren't disclosed beforehand. The only time she goes off script, or ad-libs, is when she is making personal insults.

Palin's Reality Check Has Bounced.   October 2nd, 2008 10:23 pm ET

Apparently, no, no she doesn't...

Because she's still saying it as it's entirely the answer to questions.

EBC, Boyds, MD   October 2nd, 2008 10:23 pm ET

Sarah Palin can't seem to DEFINE the terms she uses, she consistently TALKS AROUND the issues.

Its clearly obvious that Gov. Sarah Palin's is "ALL TALK, BUT NO FACTS".

Mike, FL   October 2nd, 2008 10:23 pm ET

She can't define them because she is just repeating a rehearsed one liners!!

Lynne   October 2nd, 2008 10:23 pm ET

How can this be?   October 2nd, 2008 10:23 pm ET

Then Obama should define Hope.

Guam4Clinton   October 2nd, 2008 10:23 pm ET

amanda   October 2nd, 2008 10:22 pm ET

Someone count how many times she says maverick, I am interested in hearing the answer.

Achille Salesh   October 2nd, 2008 10:22 pm ET

She acting like a robot.
She think american people are amazed by the words she's pumping.
But the bottom line is that she doesn't even know what they mean.

JImmy in California   October 2nd, 2008 10:22 pm ET

I do not think she can define the terms.

Zion   October 2nd, 2008 10:22 pm ET

Schneider, the mainstream media has allowed Palin/McCain to get away with buzz words. Therefore, they believe that it is acceptable.

Charlotte in NC   October 2nd, 2008 10:22 pm ET

She >can't< draw a distinction or define her terms because she doesn't have a governing philosophy. She hasn't thought about such things until a few weeks ago. It's just one cliche or canned "speech" after another.

Lorelei Williams   October 2nd, 2008 10:22 pm ET

You are right she is just repeating words and she is offering absolutely nothing new tonight.

Again slogans, empty slogans

Just because you repeat a word over and over doesn't make it true

David   October 2nd, 2008 10:22 pm ET

Thank you! I was thinking the exact same thing!

ER   October 2nd, 2008 10:22 pm ET

It was rehearsed. I use to cram in college a VP candidate shouldn't.

Tim   October 2nd, 2008 10:22 pm ET

Thats all shes got Bill. Talking points with no original thought.

Linda Locke   October 2nd, 2008 10:22 pm ET

Haygood   October 2nd, 2008 10:22 pm ET

Noun Verb Maverick.

alexa   October 2nd, 2008 10:22 pm ET

New Day   October 2nd, 2008 10:22 pm ET

I gotta hand it to Palin: she does a mean Tina Fey!!!

John Buchanan   October 2nd, 2008 10:22 pm ET

I can see that she has her Teflon Coat on and has been so coached that she has not clearly answered one question yet.

She is not close to being a Maverick but she Gov. Teflon Palin!

Nia OH   October 2nd, 2008 10:22 pm ET

Mccaine & Palin never gives an answer on how they are going to be Maverick because they won't be. it's all a show. it's going to be another 4 years of Bush but worse.

LS   October 2nd, 2008 10:21 pm ET

Darn McCain for putting this country at risk, because of his careless decision picking Palin.

I hope that after tonight people see what is at stake with McCain and Palin.

DEMOCRATS VOTE NO OBAMA   October 2nd, 2008 10:21 pm ET

Richie   October 2nd, 2008 10:21 pm ET

andre   October 2nd, 2008 10:21 pm ET
