(CNN) - The McCain-Palin campaign released Sarah and Todd Palin's 2006 and 2007 tax returns Friday afternoon. The campaign says the Palins paid $36,682 in federal taxes for those years, and contributed $8,205 to charity. The campaign also released a financial disclosure report for Todd Palin.

Ever heard of a 401(k)? The stock market is down over 10%. And $20,000 is 10% of $200,000. And it is not at all uncommon for hard working, union families like the Palins to have $200,000 in their 401(k). Todd is a member of the United Steel Workers, and I am certain that his benefits package includes a defined contribution pension fund with a 401K.
Maybe slackers like you don't bother to save and wait for the government to bail you out, but millions of Americans believe in looking after themselves and not waiting for hand-out. GO GET A JOB.
You know, hard-core Christians are supposed to TITHE (10%) their income to the church. Her evangelical Christian street-cred is in serious jeopardy with the revelation that she doesn't even come CLOSE to tithing. In fact, in the year that she only gave 1.5% of her income to charity, that isn't even average for a Protestant. (The average Protestant church member gives about 3% of gross income to his/her church.)

Don't worry released on a day when some other major event occurs to overshadow their impact....and close enough to the election where they won't really have any affect on the outcome – particularly since it's rather likely that she cheated in some way otherwise they would have released them immediately. (no reason to hide them if you have done nothing wrong).And we still haven't seen Johnny McCant's full medical records the size of a new york phonebook either... it would be great to know how sick he actually is.McCan't/Palin changing Washington through transparency!!!Republican women for Obama!

I don't understand why some people are so angry about the amount of money other people earn. I know many people that grew up with nothing and but now live very well through hard, honest work that started in grade school through their entire life. We all have the same opportunities in America. Two years or ten years, millionaires or not, the tax return doesn't mean you're a good or bad person. Both parties are full of elected officials that earn more than 50% of tax paying Americans. Speaking of tax paying Americans, the IRS just released data showing the top 50% of of income earners pay 97% of all taxes collected. That statistic makes me curious why the lower 50% that enjoy the many free benefits given by the government complain so much about those of us in the upper 50% that pay for their benefits!
