(CNN) - The McCain-Palin campaign released Sarah and Todd Palin's 2006 and 2007 tax returns Friday afternoon. The campaign says the Palins paid $36,682 in federal taxes for those years, and contributed $8,205 to charity. The campaign also released a financial disclosure report for Todd Palin.

How does Palen compare to Condelessa Rice, Elizabeth Dole, or Hillary Clinton? She is not in their league either. There is a big difference from being an executive than being a leader. A leader she is not. She consistently frames for America who she represents: hockey moms or six-packs. What about the rest of us? Her principles are at the bottom of the barrell if she would blame Kathy Couric for her poor interview. It was an easy interview in a quiet and calm setting. How will she perform at a real press conference? She has to be willing to take responsibility and be accountable for the personal and professional deficit; it's very visisble. We are not voting at a beauty pageant. As a woman, I'm really disgusted that she can not stand or think on her feet after saying that she believed she was qualified. She is sorry, sorry, sorry folks in 2008 and I don't think that will change by 2012. It amazes me that people are lifting her up as a representative of women. She just does not seem to posses any depth or intellect, she speaks in gobbledygook. She is a poor role model for our young girls. How do we encourage them to reach their highest potential when the bar has been lowered so far that people believe that she is an acceptable candiate for anything other than PTA. I'm really questioning what must take place in Alaska. My guess is that she is taking credit for someone close to her who is doing the real work. Her gift is in senseless chatter. Hmm. Average American income is about $42K. According to their tax records, the Palins paid an average of about $18K/year in taxes the last two years. They make a heckuva lot more $$$ than "Joe Six Pack."

The Bidens had an adjusted gross income of $319,853 in 2007, including his Senate salary, book royalties, and his wife’s salary as an English teacher. But their charitable gifts totaled $995 — just 0.31 percent of their income, according to the TaxProf Web site.
The year before, they earned $248,859 and donated just $380, or 0.15 percent of their adjusted gross income. Over the past decade they reported giving an average of $369 a year to charity, Bloomberg.com reports.
According to Independent Sector, the average annual charitable donation among households earning in excess of $200,000 is $20,434.
The Bidens’ “lack of charitable giving at that level of income would definitely be outside the range of what we say is normal,” Russell James, a professor at the University of Georgia who conducts research on charitable giving, told Bloomberg.
Republican presidential nominee John McCain’s tax returns show he had an adjusted gross income of $386,527 last year and had charitable givings of $105,467, or 27.3 percent of income.
His wife Cindy files separately. His Democratic rival Barack Obama had $4.13 million in income in 2007 and gave $240,370, or 5.8 percent.
