(CNN) - The McCain-Palin campaign released Sarah and Todd Palin's 2006 and 2007 tax returns Friday afternoon. The campaign says the Palins paid $36,682 in federal taxes for those years, and contributed $8,205 to charity. The campaign also released a financial disclosure report for Todd Palin.

For those who are NOT aware, Joe Biden has done plenty of debates over many many years. Sarah use to listen to him as a child. Compare these years to Sarah's few weeks of preparation for VP discussions and you have to realize she has held her own!! She has been governor of Alaska and she has much to learn and plenty of time to learn. She talks to us like our friends and neighbors would talk to us and she doesn't beat around the bush. I respect her honesty and pray she continues to be strong and resilient in these times when outsiders would like nothing more than to devour her for their own selfish pleasure. Frankly, I wish there weren't 2 different parties but rather just a couple of regular people running for the Presidency that can be true leaders. We haven't had that in a long time.
Have the qualifying credentials for any governor running for President or Vice President been scrutinized and ridiculed as much as those of Sarah Palin? I'm a senior citizen and I don't recall it even for a presidential candidate. There have been several in recent years. Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan are the first to come to mind. It appears to me that the media is trying to destroy a conservative woman. If she were a liberal with the same credentials, they would LOVE her.
I'm becoming a real media hater because I don't think they examine candidates equally but with a bias.
Also, is it true that 3 former Fannie Mae executives are now participating in the campaign for Barack Obama? If so, it's ridiculous that it is being brought to the public attention by the media.

Matt- her income is not like the rest of us. She paid in taxes what most people make in a year. If I donated over 8,000.00 to charity I wouldn't be able to pay bills. Depends what you mean by "charity." Knowing Palin's type, that probably means it all went to some megachurch evangelist who promised to give it to the poor but actually used it to buy a Porsche and build a bigger church to his own glory.
She'd be a lot more impressive if she supported government programs that help the poor. 1) you wouldn't need to be giving charity if that these were in place and 2) they've always given better results than simply flat taxing and hoping the people at the top grow a conscience.
