Palin calls Obama comment 'reckless,' criticizes Couric

Palin says an Obama comment was reckless.
Palin says an Obama comment was reckless.

(CNN) - Sarah Palin said Friday several of Barack Obama's comments about the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan have been "reckless" and disqualify the Illinois senator for consideration as the next commander-in-chief.

The comments are among the Alaska governor's most pointed to date regarding the Democratic presidential candidate's readiness to serve and come one day after she aggressively jousted with Democratic VP nominee Joe Biden.

"Some of his comments that he has made about the war…I think, in my world, disqualifies someone from consideration as the next commander-in-chief," Palin told Fox News Friday. "Some of the comments he's made about Afghanistan, what we are doing there, supposedly just air-raiding villages and killing civilians - that's reckless."

Palin was referring to an answer Barack Obama gave at a August 2007 town hall meeting with New Hampshire voters, during which the Illinois senator was asked whether he had plans to shift U.S. troops out of Iraq to other terrorist hotspots like Afghanistan.

"We've got to get the job done there and that requires us to have enough troops so that we're not just air-raiding villages and killing civilians, which is causing enormous pressure over there," Obama said of the U.S.'s mission in Afghanistan.

Those comments were immediately seized by GOP critics. The Republican National Committee sent out a press release shortly after calling them "offensive," and demanding he apologize. The McCain campaign has also highlighted the comments several times this campaign season. An AP Fact Check later reported Western forces had been killing civilians at a higher rate than insurgents.

Palin also commented Friday on her widely-panned series of interviews with Katie Couric, telling Fox interviewer she did not think the CBS News anchor asked enough issue-based questions.

“I did feel there were a lot of things she was missing in terms of an opportunity to ask what a VP candidate stands for, what the values are that are represented in our ticket," Palin said. "I guess I have to apologize for being a bit annoyed, but that’s also an indication about being outside that Washington elite, outside that media elite also, and just wanting to talk to Americans without the filter and let them know what we stand for."

In two separate and lengthy interviews with Couric over the last week, Palin seemed to struggle with a number of answers, including a defense of McCain's record on regulation issues. She also appeared to stumble when relating her views on the financial bailout, her foreign policy credentials, her preferred news sources of news, and a Supreme Court case she disagrees with.

"Man, no matter what you say you are gonna get clobbered," Palin told Fox about her heavily-scrutinized performance. "You choose to answer you are going to get clobbered on the answer. If you choose to pivot and try to go onto another subject that you believe Americans want to hear about, you get clobbered for that too."

This woman is a looney. Anyone that doesn't think so needs their head examined. Barack Obama has shown more leadership ability than McSame has in his little finger and Palin can only dream of. It won't be long before Palin is sucking her shoe again.

This woman is not a pitbull with lipstick, she is George W. Bush with lipstick.

Haven't we had enough of bumbling idiots running this country???

Her lines sounded like the beauty contestant who couldn't answer the question about maps without stuttering and stammering

All of her "I, um, don't um think um, that we should, um also, um, maverick, um energy, um, nucular, um, maverick, also, up here" answers sounded so elementary and unintelligent.

Anyone who thinks she even came close to looking presidential, is a bigger moron than she will ever be.

    Thank you CNN

Does anyone actually believe what she says anymore? There were relevant issue-based questions that she stumbled on and she is complaining that there were enough of those questions. I thought the Couric interview was ALREADY the "unfiltered" platform for her to speak to the Americans.

This chick can't even speak in complete sentences.

Talk about ignorant. She is the dumbed down example of what happens when we don't raise our children to value education.

neither of her older children have graduated high school and they're following her footsteps in terms of higher education.

How can someone with a four year degree that it took six years and five colleges to earn lecture a Harvard graduate and president of the law review?

Somebody please teach this hick chick how to speak in complete sentences before she levels charges at any educated American.

Repubs should be ashamed of themselves.

Palin is plain dump, stupid and an arrowhead. You are looking a talking about past stuff back a year ago. Now to be on point for 2008, Ms Lame Brain Palin there is a thing call America not winning because of bombing in Iraq, and there is a need for more troops in Afghanistan that was reported in the newpaper. McLame Brain Palin you don't read the news. Now if you think just because you didn't answer any questions pertaining to economy, health care etc, but chose to answer what you cram for that do not give you any reason to say who is more appropriate to be President. Surely you are dreaming because McCain don't have a single plan unless Obama put on out and he plaqarise it or should I say custom fit it to make people think it belongs to McCain. If you notice you nor McCain can't answer a single question on point. Go away little girl and play with you moosesssssss.

It doesn't take Sarah Palin to convince me that Barack is not only a very bad choice as an American President, but he also has no business representing this country in anyway politically.

Barack does not represent American values, nor does he have the desire to keep Americans safe from foreign entities who want to demolish this country. Socialism is evil and should not be tolerated by a free thinking society AND if you agree with Baracks vision of this country you are not American.

McCain: just smile and wink at the camera a lot and repeat what we have been saying on the stump…. Drill baby drill, maverick, maverick, maverick, change, change, change, Joe six pack, tax cuts, tax, cuts, and throw in a hockey mom….

Palin: John do you think we can really win the white house like this?

McCain: Look Sara you’re no Hillary, that’s why we need a different approach, I didn’t pick you for your knowledge of the issues.

Palin: Why did you pick me?

McCain: Because I don’t want somebody smarter than me as my VP, how would that look, Duh!!!

    "...you get clobbered..."

Yeah, well... that tends to happen when you don't know what the hell is going on in the country, its history, or the issues that (at least) 50% of the citizens DO care about.

Mrs. Palin: please DON'T infer that you know what questions I want the answers to.

The AP reported Obama's comments were accurate. So we don't want a commander in chief who is right about the issues? Give me a break. Enough of the McCain/Palin BS.

i felt that last night palin was just told "hey, be adorable for an hour and a half and you'll do fine. if you don't know the answer here's a list of things you can say that may help." some of those questions she didn't answer at all... or was that "not answering in the way they want". are you kidding me.

i swear, if someone winks at me today i just may scream.

i must admit, i'm tempted to vote for the pair, just so tina fey can keep up the humor.
