Palin wants to keep trying in Michigan.

(CNN) – The McCain campaign decided this week that the battleground state of Michigan may be out of reach for the Republican ticket this year — a move that's drawn criticism from one prominent dissenter: VP nominee Sarah Palin.

Earlier: McCain cedes Michigan to Obama

In an interview with Fox News Friday the Republican vice presidential candidate appeared to be disappointed with the decision and said she still wants to take a stab at winning the state that hasn't voted for a Republican presidential candidate in two decades.

She also said she made her disagreement known to top campaign officials:

"I fired a quick e-mail and said, 'oh, come on! Do we have to call it there?' she said. " Todd and I would [be] happy to get to Michigan and walk through those plants [with] car manufacturers.

"We'd be so happy to get to speak with the people there in Michigan, who are hurting because the economy is hurting," she added. "Whatever we can do and whatever Todd and I can do in realizing what their challenges in that state are, as we can relate to them and connect with them and promise them that we won't let them down in the administration."

Earlier: Palin calls Obama comment 'reckless,' criticizes Couric

McCain aides told CNN Thursday Michigan increasingly appeared a long shot the Arizona senator and the campaign had decided to divert its resources there to other key battleground states. The latest CNN poll of polls in Michigan shows Obama with an 8 point lead in the state where the nation's economic woes have hit hard.

But Palin maintained Friday she and McCain still have a shot there.

"I want to get back to Michigan, and I want to try," she said.

Wow! Lousy strategy to announce it! Can't he just slow down the spending without saying he's giving up in Michigan. Could be that the voters may appreciate the lack of ads. What happened to that "fight" routine that he laid out in the convention less than a month ago….great rhetoric, but hard to deliver. This appears to be the beginning of the end for McCain…..no one "gives up" on a state and makes it public. Especially when he's campaigning on his "fighting" abilities.

If he's willing to stay in Iraq forever…I guess he can stay in Michigan for a month for A LOT LESS MONEY!

How sweet her hubby is her co-partner in campaigning. Last time I checked, he would not be the First Husband and we don't have an office for First Dude. I'm curious, though……What is Todd Palin running for? If McCain wins, will Caribou Barbie be copying Todd in on all her VP official emails? Isn't anyone investigating this inappropriate behavior of her? SHEESH.

This is really sad! Palin actually thinks that she and Todd are running the McCain Campaign now? Who is caring for this poor disabled baby of theirs while she and Todd are running all over the country trying to win states that obviously will not be red on November 4th.
Sarah, pack your bags and go back to Alaska and take care of your family!

why does she always have to bring "Todd' into things - she's the one running. A preview of what could be to come? Todd, who hates the United STates and wants Alaska to suceed from the union. Amazing!

Todd was at all the "big" office meetings in Alaska and received all the important emails of the Gov's office……. was that Toddy in the debate. Shuuuucks, the Repubs are TOAST.

Gee, I wonder why the Repubs issued the net worth of this "ordinary" AFTER the debate, Duh?

This is the first time I will be taking part in any election in the United States because THIS time I care; I honestly feel I can make a difference more than ever in my life. I am overwhelmed with disbelief how many American's are actually taking the McCain/Palin ticket seriously! I have to vote for the sake of my pension and for the sake of my 18 year old son!

By the way…. Winning a debate becasue someone "didn't fumble words" is amazing to me. If we as American's care anything about our precious nation, we MUST have higher standards than that! The Vice President position is nothing to joke around with. Palin was so unprofessional in her presentation; I was ashamed to be American at that moment as the entire WORLD saw that debate!

American's, ask your self this… Would drive your family around in a car that was built by someone who is likeable? Or someone who knows the difference between brakes and an engine? Enough said…. I am so disgusted over this whole thing and all of the bloggers supporting that mess!

Texas Witch Twister   October 3rd, 2008 9:39 pm ET

Give Palin a shot at Michigan voters. Michigan voters are way to smart to be fooled by th antics of OBAMA and his crowd of lying snow ballers. Come on show them Michigan you like Florida voters will be heard and counted. The DNC Pelosi, Dean, Kennedy, Kerry led Democrats can't dis-enffranchise you now. McCAIN/PALIN 08

AHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is really funny….a disagreement. But McCain made the right choice to pull out of the state. He might as well pull out of all the battegrounds, since he has no chance. Republican strongholds like NV, NC, CO,NM,MO,FL, VA are all likely to go blue. Just a month left to go. McBush and Pali(es)n are going down.

Every answer she's given till today has been reciting what she's been told. The one and only time she broke away from what McCain said, he "recanted" what she said the next day. This is a planned statement by the McCain/Palin team to make it appear as if she can make her own stand and her own choices, not just recite what she's been told.

The McCain/Palin team, aka the GOP, play the game very well.

1) Todd? he has no part in this so why even bring up his name.

2) who's taking care of the kids if Palin & her husband are both off playing politics? Boy, some family values.

3) does she really think she has any business making the decisions for the campaign? Power hungry already & they haven't even won.

4) how can some one so completely unqualified, ignorant & silly think herself ready to jump in with the real politicians in DC? She can't even answer simple questions during debate & interviews.

susan clarke   October 3rd, 2008 9:35 pm ET

I couldn't agree more with Sarah Palin. What was the McCain campaign thinking? I'm a Michigan resident who has been working hard for the ticket. Talk about being "disenfranchised"!!!! What an ill-conceived plan this is!!! We are sick about it. Since when do the polls dictate what is REALLY going on in America much less Michigan? Neither I nor anyone I know has ever been "polled". This decision took the wind out of our sails. We're both shocked and bitterly disappointed. Susan in Michigan.

Palin do you know the meaning of reckless you will not use the term to refer to people or Obama. You have no idea what that meaning is. The word it is description of you as nominee for McCain. He is using you for his political gain. He put you under his wing for people not to know about his lack of judgement for choosing you as his running mate. By the way stop blinking your left eye. It is not professional especially when you are among other people. You may think it is sexy but it is not. Sorry to say do you have neurological defect that affect your left eye when you are in uncomfortable situation that make the left side of you face react the way you do.

There ya go again Governor! When you think, you get in trouble. Pretty sure Sen. McCain didn't pick ya because of your ability to think! I mean, criticizing Katie Couric - she asked the easiest questions. What the governor reads? And the governor couldn't answer? OMG This would be funny if it weren't so darned serious!

Was that folksy enough?

Amy from Michigan   October 3rd, 2008 9:30 pm ET

From what I've read from many news sources, Palin's husband Todd is in many government meetings and is a fixture in Palin's office. I've also read that Governor Palin only allowed two other people to help her come up with Alaska's budget for the year-and one of those people was Todd. And wouldn't you know that Todd's hometown got a new harbor budgeted this year…….

Please tell the Palin Power Couple thanks, but no thanks, to their offer to come back to Michigan. We may just be a bunch of "Joe Six Packs," but we know that a journalist and her champion snowmobile racing husband don't hold the answers to our economic problems.

California Voter   October 3rd, 2008 9:30 pm ET

I knew people who were voting for Obama during the primaries over the more experienced Clinton because he was a "fresh face", and that was a deep as their thinking went. The media never dared to say anything negative about Obama for fear of being called racists. Well, Palin is a "fresh face" on the Republican ticket, and I find it interesting that her lack of experience is held against her by the Obama campaign and the press.
Biden tears up in the debate and he is lauded, Clinton teared up on the campaign trail and she was accused of using tears to gain sympathy, support or whatever. Ladies of America, vote as you please, but please recognize the biases. Journalism is dying, if not dead in America.

newuser   October 3rd, 2008 9:29 pm ET

So, McCain didn't even bother to tell Palin of his decision? Did she find it from CNN? Or, is she trying cover his face because of the wide spread criticism on his yet another blunder? Interesting…

I love it.. Nobody bashes someone when they know they dont have a chance.. the sheer bashing of Sarah shows how popular she still is, and how real the McCain/Palin ticket sounds like a winner as each day goes by. Obama is a thin skinned politician in a 2 dolla suit that camoflages himself very well. He flip flops on answers like a 2 dollar chinese umbrella on a mildly windy Chicago day. Blow over Obama and let the real people show you how its done.

That goes to show you that McCain is out of touch. Sarah Palin, is out of touch if she thinks Todd is going to get a free ride to the White House, he already is getting a free ride to the governors' mansion. He already is living off of Palin. Sarah Palin better take her family back to Alaska, while she still has her job as governor. Somehow, there is something shady in them thar woods

Jeff an Independent   October 3rd, 2008 9:29 pm ET

Evidence that McCain does not consult his VP, as he will not if elected. The fortunate thing here: this is proof that if elected - he'll send her back to Wasilla and out of his hair.

my country (Australia) is a strong ally and friend of the United States and people here are following your elections with interest. Politics American style with all its bells and whistles is a lot more interesting than the somewhat bland affairs that we have here. I'm sure that Sarah Palin is a very nice person but if I were an American voter her style would turn me off . It seems as if she doesn't really have a grasp on just how serious the job of vice president is . From an allies point of view all this flip "aw shucks gee whiz" business is more than a little disconcerting.

I read online and see the news on a daily basis to know what is going on…I am an American who pays taxes…She does not get it all…she does not get the Average American either…doesn't she know that a campaign costs money..that is why I just donated to Obama's campaign so he can use the money….She is a stupid lady that does not know anything…I went to COLLEGE and I have more sense than her…I am insulted that she calls people who went to COLLEGE and have a higher degree than herself to be elitist …she needs to see there is more to America than Alaska..we are after all the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA….NOT THE UNITED STATES OF ALASKA FOR AVERAGE PEOPLE!!!

Sure if things go badly for Wall Street there will be National recession, but what is under the recession we're already under here? We can't take anymore here and for quite some time the race was near tied. That is the reason that they should not give up Michigan.

Ben from Longview, WA   October 3rd, 2008 9:19 pm ET

Definitin of maverick according to Websters dictionary-

Main Entry: 1mav·er·ick
Pronunciation: \ˈmav-rik, ˈma-və-\
Function: noun
Etymology: Samuel A. Maverick †1870 American pioneer who did not brand his calves
Date: 1867
1: an unbranded range animal 2: an independent individual who does not go along with a group or party

With that said, you can't have a team of mavericks as it is an indepedant individual. So why does he always supposedly go against his own party? Is it because they are always wrong? If he was a true maverick he would be a Democrat. One could probably also say McCain is also the first definition.

Sometimes, I think that Sarah Palin lives in a 'fastasy world'. I think Senator John McCain knows what he is doing concerning the State of Michigan. He's been in 'politics' longer than Sarah Palin. When 'reality' sets in, today, tomorrow or a week from now.., with Thursday nights 'debate' and previous 'interviews'.., Sarah Palin is "not" ready to be Vice-President or President. Sarah Palin is way over her head and 'out of her league'. Senator Joe Biden, Charles Gibson and Katie Couric proved that. The best thing for the Democratic Party is Sarah Palin.

I agree 100% with all of the above. Palin is a disgrace to women with her annoying and affected voice, her obnoxious winking and condescending tone as well as her over rehearsed bogus responses that rarely focused on the question. Palin's performance at the debate was contrived, disingenuine and full of lies, the same way she would be in office. The only choice is OBAMA/BIDEN.

Loyal Repulican for 49 years voting for OBAMA   October 3rd, 2008 9:10 pm ET

Palin is making this country a joke to the rest the world. I am actually embarrased to be a woman and a Repulican with her on the ticket. Please help all women and the Repulbican party have some dignity by voting for Obama/Biden!!!!!

Betty   October 3rd, 2008 9:10 pm ET

Frankly I don't care what she says. She said what she meant, if McCain wins Mr. 6 Pack Todd will be there running our beloved country with her. The bottom line is Palin did not answer most of the questions, I wasn't amused. And Republicans - just because she showed up and smiled doesn't mean she did great.

Just because she was drilled on queue cards doesn't replace the fact that America at one time took pride in Education and knowledge, what a blow to our core beliefs. Just to win the Right Wing over?

The Republican Party can lie all day and all night all the way until November 4th, it was an insulting experience. Several people I spoke with changed the station and watched reruns.

Are we dumbing down in America? Are we willing to accept this type of nonsense? The lady doesn't have enough intellectual curosity to even know things about the Constitution that many 6 graders learn in school. McCain did not think his choice through. If this is the best we can do, we are in trouble. Obama/Biden is the team!

norma   October 3rd, 2008 9:10 pm ET

Ms. Palin need to get her facts straight——for someone who claims she reads everything, she has demonstrated a very poor knowledge of info that someone who aspires to be a VP should know. Is Ms. Palin and her husband a team of VPs in waiting? Her pronouncements seem to be saying that. Basically, she's not ready—-being a Governor does not a automatically make you VP material.

Keith   October 3rd, 2008 9:09 pm ET

It is very generous of Ms Palin and her "first dood" Todd, to volunteer their services when they have such pressing obligations in Alaska, answering to a subpoena…well, at least they WOULD answer the subpoena, if they weren't so busy campaigning. Uh, yeah…

Ellie   October 3rd, 2008 9:09 pm ET

Todd is not running for office and is not an Alaska state employee but he has been known to sit in on some of Sarah's official meetings.

max (NY)   October 3rd, 2008 9:08 pm ET

Please Palin don't speak, the more you speak , the more damage you cause. Nobody is interested in whatever you have to say. So, please, do yourself a favor, "SHUT UP".
PS: The sound of your voice is irritant. Right after you spoke on TV the other day, both my monitor and TV screens crack. I can't wait for this election to be over, so that I can go back to what life used to be before your existence was brought to people knowledge.

Edith Ann   October 3rd, 2008 9:07 pm ET

Todd? What education level is Mr. Palin anyway? He will be her biggest advisor when John croaks from old age and before. OMG She is already expecting McCain to change his mind when she wants. What will she bring him down for if he won't croak fast enough? Is your closet clean John?
He should never have chosen someone he met for 15 minutes as VP. He said fudge it and threw the dice, now, it will come back to bite him. We deserved a more thoughtful choice from you, John, you need Gamblers Anonymous.
I can see our kids having unprotected sex, walking around with six packs of beer and racing anything with a motor saying "grab six-pack Louie and lets go kill something"!
God help us all!

Donna   October 3rd, 2008 9:07 pm ET

This is extremely important. Today, lawyers from a far right wing religious group filed an emergency appeal of the dismissal of the case trying to block the investigation into Palin's misconduct in office. They do not want the results of the investigation made public until after the election. There is without question something to hide here.

Ilona from Alberta   October 3rd, 2008 9:07 pm ET

As an outsider I am horrrified that Palin has been selected as the brightest and best leader for the future of America and IF McCain is elected has a chance of being a President. I know I shouldn't be too surprised after Bush was elected twice but….come on.

Naturesmom   October 3rd, 2008 9:07 pm ET

It surprises me greatly that NO ONE picked up on Biden's statement of cutting (or forgiving) part of mortgage principal to those people who were unwise and overspent on the houses. This encourages waste, destroys the economy, and basically robs the prudent consumers who worked hard paying their mortgages and taxes.
In addition it is an outrageous statement that shows where Biden's and Obama's priorities are: to buy their votes despite a suffering economy and shows lack of respect for the wise consumers struggling to maintain their good credit name. IT IS SHAMEFUL

"I fired a quick e-mail and said, 'oh, come on! Do we have to call it there?' she said. " Todd and I would [be] happy to get to Michigan and walk through those plants [with] car manufacturers.

Just like one of those soccer games, Michigan is called. Game over.

"We'd be so happy to get to speak with the people there in Michigan, who are hurting because the economy is hurting," she added. Manuel   October 3rd, 2008 9:06 pm ET

Sarah Palin exceeded expectations, she's a hit again, the hockey mom from the Republican Convention is back! She went toe to toe with the more Washington D.C. experienced and worldly Joe Biden, held her own while smiling and winking her way into our homes if not our hearts!

So by all measures set out by the Republican analysts, commentators, McCain/Palin supporters et al, Sara is ready to face the nation if not the world on her own. Turn her loose on the campaign trail, on all the media, appear on all of the Sunday morning political shows etc! You're ready Sarah! Last nights performance proves it! This is a "shout out to 'ya!" Let's all play "stump the candidate!"

paul s   October 3rd, 2008 9:06 pm ET

Palin is a woman of unfettered ambition, so stupid and limited that her ignorance of things beyond her is considered a virtue. She blames everyone else for her deficiencies. Her behaviour during the debate appeals to the basest instincts of the voters, rather than honestly inform the electorate her positions, which unfortunately after her prior interviews, showed nothing but an empty suite.

Jason in SDY   October 3rd, 2008 9:06 pm ET

I am very offended by this Todd suddenly being involved. So even people who are not elected officials get to run things? This is how dictatorships are formed!

Mickey   October 3rd, 2008 9:05 pm ET

How arrogant - like SHE'S going to convince Michigan to go Republican when they haven't in 20 years?!

Grant in Canada   October 3rd, 2008 9:05 pm ET

Please, my neighbours, be serious.

This woman has a "journalism" degree (albeit a tortuous route to that degree) and she can not construct a complete English sentence.

Good luck with that…….

Miss Winky Winky is a joke. Go back to Alaska and see Russia from your house.

Tupac   October 3rd, 2008 9:03 pm ET

According to Palin: "Some of his [Obama's] comments that he has made about the war…I think, in my world, disqualifies someone from consideration as the next commander-in-chief,"

Comments don't kill people judgment of sending troops into fighting a wrong war does.

FYI in our world down here the American people disqualify you from consideration of being the next commander-in-chief by a thing we call voting.

Sarah in not qualified   October 3rd, 2008 9:03 pm ET

Nothing this lady says should be given any credence. McCain did not put his country first by choosing Sarah.

Concerned Voter   October 3rd, 2008 9:03 pm ET

I cannot believe the arrogance of this VP Sarah Palin.

And it is concern to me that many brainwashed wishy washy Christians are for her. Well let me just say that if we have Palin it will be Bush-like once again many times over.

Do you wishy washy Christians want another Bush like scenario? Another Bush like character will sell all our souls to Baal.

former gop   October 3rd, 2008 9:03 pm ET

I don't think I've ever hated George W. as much as I hate Sara Palin. This woman has an ego the size of Jupiter.

JS   October 3rd, 2008 9:03 pm ET

What is up with the "TODD and I" comment from Palin. This is not a joint VP ticket. It is not Todd and Sara Palin ticket for VP !!! In Alaska it has been reported that Todd Palin has been allowed by the governor of Alaska to sit-in meetings he is clearly not suppose to be attending -

Sorry Todd - sidelines please!! You dont hear McCain saying Cindy and I will campaign and Cindy and I will make it happen

Ahhh, McCain - I wish you did not pick Sara Palin. I would have voted for you :(

easy rider - gun toting in Tennessee - OBAMA   October 3rd, 2008 9:02 pm ET

J.C.   October 3rd, 2008 9:02 pm ET

I think Palin may do have a chance in MI, because she and her husband can connect with the workers in MI. Although she is not poor, she is the most modest of the four candidates.

Rich   October 3rd, 2008 9:02 pm ET

Dear Mrs. Palin,

Get used to being disappointed.. you've got quite a few more disappointments to experience over the next 4 weeks.

CCLady   October 3rd, 2008 9:01 pm ET

I guess she forgot McCain doesn't know how to "do" e-mail.

jnkekoa   October 3rd, 2008 9:01 pm ET

I think it's unfair to single Palin out as unqualified and out of her depth. Her running mate is equally devoid of intelligence and ability, and based on his performance in this campaign, unfit for the Senate much less the presidency.
Of course, that doesn't mean they couldn't win…after all, Palin is the next step in the Bush legacy–wily old dad, stupid bumbling idiot of a son with a legacy degree from an actual school, to a simpleton without even the appearance of (thanks Bob Cesca) Fancy Book Learnin'
God save the U.S. of A., because its electorate may not.

Raven   October 3rd, 2008 9:00 pm ET

8 years of the dumbing of America by the Bush administration has brought us to this. How much lower can we set the bar for who belongs in the White House. This ticket is a joke!

Luis Castillo   October 3rd, 2008 9:00 pm ET

I was under the impression that McBush/Ms Cheny with lipstick, VP hopeful were not going to turn their backs on the people of the great state of Michigan. What a cowards that they would not look at the people in their eyes and tell them. Go back and apologize to them for letting them down, spend some money, so that we can kick your butts at some other state that may be in play, like Missouri, Indiana, Ohio, Virginia, North Carolina. It Obama/Biden by a landslide 353 EV by my count, maybe higher come Nov. 4.

meiko   October 3rd, 2008 8:59 pm ET

Palin is so ridiculous - her decision is all based on emotions, winking at the audience, as if the audience is the panel of beauty pageant judges. She is absolutely unqualified to be a VP, and God Bless America if she ever becomes the president. She insults everyone by refusing to answer questions and with such bravado dishonesty and with such moronic simplicity. A dangerous Bush Twin! She should ask where she can be deployed to help McCain, rather than just go to Michigan. Does she understand the difference between strategy and tactic - perhaps she is a McCain Twin - just like a bull in a china shop. Come to think of it, ship her to China, after sending her to Siberia first. Perhaps then she can come back in 1912. Guess it is 2012 and run agains Obama again.

Tupac   October 3rd, 2008 8:58 pm ET

Boy, she sure is cocky as of last night isn't she? Well, more cocky and arrogant than before. Are you Americans sure you want this woman in office, she herself, who said "I've only been at this for 5 weeks you know"…something to that effect.

Just think, you could have someone like her, God forbid should anything happen to McCain, as your president in the new year!

God help you all!! I can't believe you are such idiots!

i think she has some serious mental problems. this phony cutsie wink wink act is so transparent. what kind of a moron would vote for her and base that most important vote on some idea that she is a real hocky mom maverick. what the heck kind of reason is that to elect a vice-president/ president!!!!

JM   October 3rd, 2008 8:55 pm ET

". . .Todd and I"? You have GOT to be kidding! There are so many things wrong with that phrase in this situation. But if she cannot see it, I doubt that telling her will make a difference. This is a political office she is looking at, not a family fish fry! Or can she not tell the difference!!

Bill NJ   October 3rd, 2008 8:54 pm ET

What McCain is coming to realize, along with a reluctant Palin, is that this race is over. The right is holding on for dear life as indicated by the shrill tone of Faux News and others, but it's pretty clear that once they gave up Michigan, they are beginning to face facts. When you're a R candidate for President and your key states are VA, NC, NV, NH, OH, and FL, your goose is cooked. Absent something cataclysmic, this one's done.

Laura   October 3rd, 2008 8:54 pm ET

No Way, No How, No McCain/ Palin/First Dude

it was the wrong thing to do

Bryan from OH   October 3rd, 2008 8:53 pm ET

I have never heard of a candidate throwing in the towel with just weeks before an election. Wouldn't this hurt more by disenfranchising voters in Michigan? Obama's 7 point lead may become much higher if swing voters feel abandoned by the McCain camp. Does the popular vote matter anymore?

David   October 3rd, 2008 8:53 pm ET

she looks as though she's been reprimanded by McCain in the picture above. Now she's telling HIM what states they are going to stay in. I get the feeling she wishes he were running for VP and she for Prez with "Todd". Isn't that sweet???

Nation of Whiners   October 3rd, 2008 8:52 pm ET

No one in Michigan is stupid enough to want the repackaged Bush policies that McSame offers for the economy.

McCain is being smart by trying to sell his LIES elsewhere. Too many jobs have been lost in Michigan.

averge   October 3rd, 2008 8:52 pm ET

I can't believe how Palin can call her family an "AVERAGE" income family. I bet she's not making 30K-40K a year. Also, what is it that makes her think men do not care the same way about their children as women do? Voters should vote based on who they think will do good for Americans based on their economic roadmaps, their homeland security etc..

BVS Maine   October 3rd, 2008 8:52 pm ET

"I fired a quick e-mail and said, 'oh, come on! Do we have to call it there?' she said. " Todd and I would [be] happy to get to Michigan and walk through those plants [with] car manufacturers." - S. Palin

Her speech is just poor for a Presidential candidate. I wonder just how much longer we will allow her to degrade Americans by thinking that second grade speech is acceptable.

independent   October 3rd, 2008 8:51 pm ET

Is this the way their gonna run this country? The president takes a decision, his VP contradict? Don't you consult each other before releasing a decision to the public?
What a desperate campaign?- Thank God Americans are not stupid to vote for such a ticket.

Maggie   October 3rd, 2008 8:51 pm ET

Oh really Ms. Palin I lived in Michigan and now live in Ohio. I have seen these manufacturing plants close in Michigan and now in Ohio. I have a good idea for ya why don't you go to MORAINE, Ohio where there plant will be shut down Dec 23 and tell them how to feed their families. You are standing by a man that has given George Bush a stamp of approval on moving this plants overseas. You are standing by a man that said nothing about what his plan is to bring these jobs back to the United States, and Ms. Palin you want to go talk to these workers Oh please do! Are you going to tell them that John McCain will give them money to go back to school to find a different job in different field. Thats going to go over well for someone that might be in their 40s. GET A GRIP COME DOWN TO THE LEVEL OF THE AVERAGE WORKER.

East Memphis   October 3rd, 2008 8:51 pm ET

McCain says: We must move our campaign out of Michigan, all is lost.

Palin: But Senator McCain, all is not loss, there are several hundred thousand more jobs , thousand of homes, millions in pensions and savings that can be lost in Michigan if we do press on and possibly win.

Juan Grain   October 3rd, 2008 8:51 pm ET

Scenario A. McCain/Palin. Republican President McCain while respected for his many years in the senate and love of country would be in gridlock with a democratic majority Congress. They will never give him the permanent tax cuts that his campaign is founded on and he would start as somewhat of a lame duck. Palin would be President of the Congress. The majority would not respect her intellect and knowledge, or rather and to no fault of her own, her lack of legislative knowledge. This coupled with her hair raising comments of executive expansion over Congress is a 4 inch thick titanium wall that has slammed shut her prospects of bipartisanship work in the nations capitol. Simply put it would be more of the same. And at the end of the day, if the legislative branch is locked down with the executive branch, we the people loose.

Scenario B. Obama/Biden. Democratic President Obama would be welcomed by the democratic majority congress with his exemplary constitutional law knowledge and legislative knowledge and experience. And actually some centrist Republicans would welcome him because of his ability to understand and respect opposing opinions. Vice President Biden is loved by the majority of Congress and respected by ALL of Congress. His constitutional law knowledge and legislative accomplishments and experience commands respect. So as President of the Congress and a clear understanding of this congressional president's reach, Vice President Biden will be warmly welcomed by the Congress. In addition Senator McCain would return to the senate as the loyal opposition that can reach to his base and his conservative Republicans in the Capitol when attempting to make continuity with the executives of the White house.

Obama For President   October 3rd, 2008 8:50 pm ET

Palin is proving once again how misinformed she really is. She is the one who is reckless for accepting a job she obviously has no experience. She made a statement last night that people should live within their means, well, she should take her own advice and recognize her own limitations.

In reference to her statement about Couric; what did she expect the questions should be: energy policy things she feels comfortable answering. Katie Couric is a professional and focused on questions to give the public an idea where Palin stands. It is not annoyance Palin conveyed but ignorance and limited knowledge outside her insulated life in Alaska.

In my opinion Palin is reckless for accepting a position she has little knowledge and now want to insult the public's intelligence with her 3rd grade answers. McCain judgment is very poor.

Independent Woman   October 3rd, 2008 8:50 pm ET

McCain and Palin are made for each other. He feeds her lies and she upholds them. McCain and Palin are Karl Rove's puppets with noses extending so long that birds can build their nests.

The VP debate is the sickest thing I have ever had the pleasure of viewing. Palin was so pathetic. I have never witnessed a Presidential or VP candidate change the questioning format during a debate to serve their scripted answers. This woman is an insult to us as women.

Palin received a degree in what again? My seventh grader (straight A student) could have done a better job than her especially with the use of correct grammar.

Quincy   October 3rd, 2008 8:50 pm ET

Sarah Palin is a sheep in wolves clothing! She doesn't have a clue. It's painfully obvious that she enjoys the spot light. Why else would she be in a beauty contest. She isn't what America needs right now. We need somene who is smart enough to know what news papers they read and something about the Constitution.

Sarah go back home and take care of your kids and your soon to be grandchild.

Jaimito   October 3rd, 2008 8:50 pm ET

who the hell is todd? don't tell me he calls the shots…one unqualified led by another, this nation is doomed if they pull this stunt off. Americans wake up!

Jude Ezeigwe   October 3rd, 2008 8:49 pm ET

Wire - Sarah did very well but Biden was much better. I love Serah but will not vote Republican this time because of what they have done to our economy. A vote for the Republican party this November will surely lead to the demise of this great nation. I love America and will never gamble with it!

Bob   October 3rd, 2008 8:49 pm ET

Way to go, John. Picked yourself a real winner there. Good thing you don't resemble a moose or you might be hanging on her wall. Oh, wait, that still might happen.

What a farce. No wonder the rest of the world thinks we're a bunch of idiots. Thanks to the Republican party for continuing to destroy what little respect the world still has for us.

Palin / Bush with Lipstick   October 3rd, 2008 8:49 pm ET

Maybe she doesn't "get it" on how much campaigning costs..she seems to think she is running for prom queen or school president.."geeze" you better take "Todd first dude" home to look after your special needs baby.. who is looking after the kids anyway? Just another George Bush with Lipstick.. failed government, failed war, failed economy.. GEEZE gal that is alot of failures.. darn right!
At this rate Palin will cause McCain to keel over.. she thinks she's playing Candlyland or something!

JimS.   October 3rd, 2008 8:49 pm ET

BC   October 3rd, 2008 8:49 pm ET

This is great - she wasn't a complete fool during the debate, so now she has delusions of adequacy. She has gotten so cocky she will hang herself for sure…

princedlw7   October 3rd, 2008 8:48 pm ET

Sounds like she's about to put the knife to the old man! McCain did this to himself. I've said it many many times to young men. When it comes to women, nothing is free. Governor Palin is about to wreck the McCain/Palin ticket so that she can build the Palin/????? ticket, with her and Todd at the top. We all need to watch this one closely.

Another thing we need to watch is the conservatives. They have all simply lost their minds! Some of them actually think Palin won last night. Obviously, she feels that she outshined everyone and should be crowned queen of the American Territory. You conservatives really need to check yourselves. I can remember a time when I could actually respect republicans. I could never actually be one, but I respected their love for the country and doggedly they'd protect it. Now I just see a bunch of souless talking heads that are bought and paid for. My point is that you conservatives need to really think before you jump behind this lady.

Just a thought.

Look Sarah Palin used Cliff notes lin her answers last night. She is not fit to be anywhere near the Presidency and because John McCain chose her, even though Mitt Romney was available, it means he DID NOT put his COUNTRY FIRST. Now its your turn you salt of the earth, patriotic, hard working, Americans. It's you turn to put your TRULY put your COUNTRY FIRST and maybe vote against your natural inclination , even your political bent but vote for the well being of your country and make sure GoV Palin is never anywhere near real power in this country. haven't we had enough with George Bush? Do we really needs someone who is even more less intellectually curious and more idelogically rigid? Haven't the past eight years being ENOUGH?

If number 894 says you are pulling out Michign you pull out of Michigan. They hate you and Todd there and ol' 894 , the Bush incarnate will get stoned at the Michigan border.

I'll tell you what Sarah..I work and deal with those who live in very low income areas..why don't you come on by…and we'll give you a tour….
we have lots of voters who want their concerns known.

Please…patronizing….that is one thing I dislike about her style…very patronizing….She has not concept what it is to walk out your door with bullets flying; drugs regularly around children throughout their developement years; the poorest in educational opportunity…get real Sarah…go to where people are dying each day just trying to survive.

This is great - she wasn't a complete fool during the sebate, so now she has delusions of adequacy. She has gotten so cocky she will hang herself for sure…

Beware of Palin's Quest for Power   October 3rd, 2008 8:47 pm ET

The Vice President of the United States shall be President of the Senate, but shall have no Vote, unless they be equally divided.

But Palin wants more power.
Palin = Cheney

2 things wrong with this, one it not your ticket Idiot! Atleast Mccain knows strategy on how to win, are you so disillusioned now that you think youre better than Mccain.

And 2nd this looks more like a ploy to keep her political life alive while Mccains ship is going down. Thats just wrong.
