Palin disagrees with McCain's Michigan decision

Palin wants to keep trying in Michigan.
Palin wants to keep trying in Michigan.

(CNN) – The McCain campaign decided this week that the battleground state of Michigan may be out of reach for the Republican ticket this year - a move that's drawn criticism from one prominent dissenter: VP nominee Sarah Palin.

Earlier: McCain cedes Michigan to Obama

In an interview with Fox News Friday the Republican vice presidential candidate appeared to be disappointed with the decision and said she still wants to take a stab at winning the state that hasn't voted for a Republican presidential candidate in two decades.

She also said she made her disagreement known to top campaign officials:

"I fired a quick e-mail and said, 'oh, come on! Do we have to call it there?' she said. " Todd and I would [be] happy to get to Michigan and walk through those plants [with] car manufacturers.

"We'd be so happy to get to speak with the people there in Michigan, who are hurting because the economy is hurting," she added. "Whatever we can do and whatever Todd and I can do in realizing what their challenges in that state are, as we can relate to them and connect with them and promise them that we won't let them down in the administration."

Earlier: Palin calls Obama comment 'reckless,' criticizes Couric

McCain aides told CNN Thursday Michigan increasingly appeared a long shot the Arizona senator and the campaign had decided to divert its resources there to other key battleground states. The latest CNN poll of polls in Michigan shows Obama with an 8 point lead in the state where the nation's economic woes have hit hard.

But Palin maintained Friday she and McCain still have a shot there.

"I want to get back to Michigan, and I want to try," she said.

I think she is right. Palin and "Todd" being covered by the media as they embark upon an unscripted tour of Michigan's car factories is just the thing that this country needs to put the final nail in the McCain presidential bid.

    Go for it Sarah!

This woman is a plant I say. She was sent to revive the "redneck" vote... hate to have to be able to go there, but it is what it is. No way can this womans credentials, or lack thereof, can come close to Senators Obama and Biden. And to say she's in either one of their leagues is just plain wrong. My thought of her last night was "Geez, she would be quick to play on your last nerve"! But then I thought – I hope this country does not treat her the Senator McCain is treating her...stick her out there like a ___ and pimp her shamelessly. The really sad part...she, a mother of female children, doesnt seem to mind.

She clearly has no grasp of the electoral map. You notice Obama's not holding out for a win in Arizona or Alabama

Hey, can I call you Gwen? Heckuva job, Gwen!

Oh fer shure...I'll betcha' my opponents are a-wishing that you had a Maverick representin' every Joe Six-pack, hockey mom – bless their hearts – ya' know? Darn right, a maverick does a heckuva job, not just kinda good, but honest-to-goodness heckuva job! As one of my heroes, Donny Rumsfield, once told me, "Golly gee willickers, that's a peach of a pickle!". So yes, I know a little somethin' about oil up here in the only Arctic state ;-)

This woman needs to humble herself, with her response toher latest interviews she shoul dhide under a rock. It's gonna take a lot more than a scripted debate performance to prove to the american people that she is qualified to be VP of the United States. I am appaled that the republicans think we are so stupid that they can gamble with our lives. Give me someone whose worthy of being a heartbeat away from running this country. She should go back to Alaska with her eye winking, kiss blowing, script reading self.

Sarah Palin used her lip stick and winks to seduce the American public. "Sex to the White House." American women should be outraged by her sleeziness – we are more than that! Stop this madness and vote Obama-Biden. Dorn shameful!!!!!

Palin is power-hungry! She has already called this the Palin/McCain administration. She announced last night that she wants to expand/extend the powers of the VP – including legislative. She wants to RULE the Senate and be exempt from executive mandates to preserve all communications. She's already planning how to avoid transparency without use of Yahoo e-mail.

Todd should be taking care of the children – especially the infant. What are they thinking dragging the kids around – especially late at night to the debate? They are awful parents to parade the family show and have no regard for what their children really need – SLEEP on a regular basis – not whenever they can catch a few zzzz's. This is the beginning of child neglect.

By her comment, she sounds so cheerleader-like; it's not the response of a seasoned politician. Her enthusiasm comes across as child-like and naive. She's not even aware of it.

As democrats we should just let them implode..they are so happy that she can speak words that she has been given. WOW LOOK OUT !!
STOP THE PRESSES ! The polls show Obama with the lead. Which goes to show that there really aren't THAT many stupid people in America. I let my Repu friends jabber on how great she is...but all that matters is I'll be smiling November 5th.....with a VERY SMART PRES AND VP in the White House ... no more of this.......

This is one more thing to add to the list showing her judgment is poor to non-existent. A GOP presidential candidate hasn't won there in years. It is a decidedly blue state. Her "boss" knows enough to stop throw good money after bad and pull the plug. Yet she feels "she knows best" and is so full of herself to actually think that she can change the course there by walking a few auto plants with her husband???

When will McCain get her under control, with the program and muzzle her??? Or better yet, show he actually has the capability to make the difficult calls and usher her off the ticket to pick up someone who actually may be capable to be a heart beat away from the presidency?

Palin appears to have new confidence, having survived her one and only debate. I want her to give more unscripted interviews, Katie Couric style (probing questions followed by related follow-up questions that she can't bluff through), with journalists other than those at Fox News, in order to bring her down a peg. Voters deserve this before the elections! Her boldness and arrogance is frightening considering her lack of substance and knowledge about national and international political affairs. She is an act that relies on an image, and not an authentic leader with a true grasp of the issues or well-thought out positions based on reason and awareness of all the mitigating factors. She makes a great beauty pageant contestant, PTA mom, and neoconservative
    puppet!
