Palin disagrees with McCain's Michigan decision

Palin wants to keep trying in Michigan.
Palin wants to keep trying in Michigan.

(CNN) – The McCain campaign decided this week that the battleground state of Michigan may be out of reach for the Republican ticket this year - a move that's drawn criticism from one prominent dissenter: VP nominee Sarah Palin.

Earlier: McCain cedes Michigan to Obama

In an interview with Fox News Friday the Republican vice presidential candidate appeared to be disappointed with the decision and said she still wants to take a stab at winning the state that hasn't voted for a Republican presidential candidate in two decades.

She also said she made her disagreement known to top campaign officials:

"I fired a quick e-mail and said, 'oh, come on! Do we have to call it there?' she said. " Todd and I would [be] happy to get to Michigan and walk through those plants [with] car manufacturers.

"We'd be so happy to get to speak with the people there in Michigan, who are hurting because the economy is hurting," she added. "Whatever we can do and whatever Todd and I can do in realizing what their challenges in that state are, as we can relate to them and connect with them and promise them that we won't let them down in the administration."

Earlier: Palin calls Obama comment 'reckless,' criticizes Couric

McCain aides told CNN Thursday Michigan increasingly appeared a long shot the Arizona senator and the campaign had decided to divert its resources there to other key battleground states. The latest CNN poll of polls in Michigan shows Obama with an 8 point lead in the state where the nation's economic woes have hit hard.

But Palin maintained Friday she and McCain still have a shot there.

"I want to get back to Michigan, and I want to try," she said.

See that's the problem: Todd thinks he has been running Alaska, too.

It's not your decision, Gov. Palin, and you have no idea what the campaign's resources are. You've got a lot to learn about politics if you think you can make these kind of public pronouncements and not have them come back and bite you.

Besides, how can you carry around your written talking points while walking around an auto factory?

Sarah and Tod Palin plan to ambush the WH while old man McCain is asleep. Why is Tod Palin not working at his own job because he is not running for a position or is he? The Palin's sure did make a lot of money on income taxes for Tod not to have a job. I've been to Alaska and Wasilla is a small town so where is the money coming from.

Why are Sarah's kids out of school? No wonder she butchers the English language, her parents probably kept her out of school, as well.

    Sarah Palin, the Great Connector!

I want very, very SMART people in office in the White House, not smart people in the shadows of average or stupid people in office. McCain and Palin are, at best, intellectualy average and will be puppets controlled by shadowy intellects because they, like Bush, are tragically out of their depth.

They're not even elected into office, and she wants to run the show. I'd almost enjoy seeing McCain win and trying to keep this one under control if things weren't so serious in the country today. She'd be telling McCain to go take a nap while she handled the situation.

John, don't you get it, she has always been after your job.

First you let her do all of the talking, now you have trained her and she is disagreeing with you.

What's next, Presidential nominee Sarah and Todd running for the White House and nominee John McCain for VP?

It is amazing that so many comments are just personal insults thrown at palin. Too many people seem to have gone down pretty low on what is appriate criticism. However one may disagree with Palin it is obvious she is an intelligent and capable woman, remember she managed by herself to become chief official of her home town and chief official of a state. The criticism I read is an insult to Alaskans, to all americans in fact. If this degree of negativism and vitriol is not removed from public discurse and pushed back to taverns it is difficult to see how the USA can survive for long. Reminds me of prenazi germany... Scary. Some critics and comedians should be told to shut up, people like Bill Maher and many bloggers.

Here in Canada we find Sarah Palin in this VP Candidate role to be nothing short of a bad joke! What is up America???? Obama and Biden are the ONLY sensible choice...please don't make the same mistake from the last 8 years where your current President, George Bush, is viewed as a caricature...Sarah Palin is on her way to be the same!!!

McCain knows he lost this election. Why waste money in a state or nation that dont want you as a President. McCain should donate his election campaign fund to the American People to pay off debt. That is Putting Country FIRST!

This woman is preparing for 2012. She has a reputation for throwing her political benefactors under the bus and moving up, and she will point to their pulling out of Michigan as being part of the reason why they (he) lost.

McCain's political campaign got in bed with a barracuda that they thought they could control. This will be it's reward.

Man she gets SCARIER every minute!

She is the one who is reckless and dangerous and not anywhere near qualified to be a Vice President.

She is a power hungry war monger and doesnt care who she steps on – including HER boss, the guy running for President, the guy at the TOP of the ticket (anybody hear her a few weeks back in Cedar Rapids refer to it as the Palin/ McCain ticket) – he says pull out of Michigan and she wants to second guess his decision.

Watch out people – if God forbid they do get in the White House then she will be putting something in McCain's metamucil.

Will be happy when some of the false idea of capability
flees from the hocky mom. Evidendly she thinks she and
    hubby can conquer all.
As the intelligent voters turn to Obama/Biden she will
no doubt blame Mccain as she certainly would not
be able to accept the blame for anything, Course,
neither will Mccain so they make a good match.
    ENOUGH!

Dear Lord, when will this woman shut up? Are we supposed to fall over when the 'hawkey mawm" licks her lips and makes promises she has neither any intention NOR ability to keep? Does she have any idea how few workers are left in Michigan? Obviously not. Maybe they went to live with the dinosaurs.

  22. Go away Palin

"Todd and I" – what in the heck does Todd have to do with any of this? We don't need the 'First Dude' or 'Joe Six Pack' or a 'Pitbull with Lipstick' attempting to run our country. We've been with a president without brains for long enough. I want the president to be A LOT smarter than the average American!!

Boy she really has a high opinion of herself, to think that by her and Todd going to Michigan they will turn that stae red. I think she is getting a little bit power hungry. I think the real question is whats the differance between Dick Chenney and Sara Palin? Lipstick?

Those who think she did great? you need to go back to school. Never saw anything so crazy. Biden or rather "Joe" should have said "excuse me, you are not answering the questions".
McCain was so happy..... almost as happy as her husband. Save us from stupid people.
