Palin disagrees with McCain's Michigan decision

Palin wants to keep trying in Michigan.
Palin wants to keep trying in Michigan.

(CNN) – The McCain campaign decided this week that the battleground state of Michigan may be out of reach for the Republican ticket this year - a move that's drawn criticism from one prominent dissenter: VP nominee Sarah Palin.

Earlier: McCain cedes Michigan to Obama

In an interview with Fox News Friday the Republican vice presidential candidate appeared to be disappointed with the decision and said she still wants to take a stab at winning the state that hasn't voted for a Republican presidential candidate in two decades.

She also said she made her disagreement known to top campaign officials:

"I fired a quick e-mail and said, 'oh, come on! Do we have to call it there?' she said. " Todd and I would [be] happy to get to Michigan and walk through those plants [with] car manufacturers.

"We'd be so happy to get to speak with the people there in Michigan, who are hurting because the economy is hurting," she added. "Whatever we can do and whatever Todd and I can do in realizing what their challenges in that state are, as we can relate to them and connect with them and promise them that we won't let them down in the administration."

Earlier: Palin calls Obama comment 'reckless,' criticizes Couric

McCain aides told CNN Thursday Michigan increasingly appeared a long shot the Arizona senator and the campaign had decided to divert its resources there to other key battleground states. The latest CNN poll of polls in Michigan shows Obama with an 8 point lead in the state where the nation's economic woes have hit hard.

But Palin maintained Friday she and McCain still have a shot there.

"I want to get back to Michigan, and I want to try," she said.

  4. Beware of Palin's Quest for Power

The Vice President of the United States shall be President of the Senate, but shall have no Vote, unless they be equally divided.

The VP is basically part of the administration's cabinet and clearly a lobbyist for the administration who should not inject his/her-self into Senate proceedings unless it is to decide on a tie vote.

Palin wants more power, just like Cheney. More of the SAME!!!!

I agree with Palin, Michigan may be leaning toward OBama, but when the truth comes out that Obama cannot bring back the high wage, low tech manufacturing jobs that Michigan has lost they may change their vote. Until November 4th the polls can be twisted to say what the media want you to believe. Go John and fight in all of America especially by going on the talk shows including the View again.

And 2nd this looks more like a ploy to keep her political life alive while Mccains ship is going down. Thats just wrong.

I'll tell you what Sarah..I work and deal with those who live in very low income areas..why don't you come on by...and we'll give you a tour....
we have lots of voters who want their concerns known.

Please...patronizing....that is one thing I dislike about her style...very patronizing....She has not concept what it is to walk out your door with bullets flying; drugs regularly around children throughout their developement years; the poorest in educational opportunity...get real Sarah...go to where people are dying each day just trying to survive.

  22. A Plea to the GOP

Look Sarah Palin used Cliff notes lin her answers last night. She is not fit to be anywhere near the Presidency and because John McCain chose her, even though Mitt Romney was available, it means he DID NOT put his COUNTRY FIRST. Now its your turn you salt of the earth, patriotic, hard working, Americans. It's you turn to put your TRULY put your COUNTRY FIRST and maybe vote against your natural inclination , even your political bent but vote for the well being of your country and make sure GoV Palin is never anywhere near real power in this country. haven't we had enough with George Bush? Do we really needs someone who is even more less intellectually curious and more idelogically rigid? Haven't the past eight years being ENOUGH?

Sounds like she's about to put the knife to the old man! McCain did this to himself. I've said it many many times to young men. When it comes to women, nothing is free. Governor Palin is about to wreck the McCain/Palin ticket so that she can build the Palin/????? ticket, with her and Todd at the top. We all need to watch this one closely.

Another thing we need to watch is the conservatives. They have all simply lost their minds! Some of them actually think Palin won last night. Obviously, she feels that she outshined everyone and should be crowned queen of the American Territory. You conservatives really need to check yourselves. I can remember a time when I could actually respect republicans. I could never actually be one, but I respected their love for the country and doggedly they'd protect it. Now I just see a bunch of souless talking heads that are bought and paid for. My point is that you conservatives need to really think before you jump behind this lady.

    Just a thought.
