Palin disagrees with McCain's Michigan decision

Palin wants to keep trying in Michigan.

Palin wants to keep trying in Michigan.

(CNN) - The McCain campaign decided this week that the battleground state of Michigan may be out of reach for the Republican ticket this year - a move that's drawn criticism from one prominent dissenter: VP nominee Sarah Palin.

Earlier: McCain cedes Michigan to Obama

In an interview with Fox News Friday the Republican vice presidential candidate appeared to be disappointed with the decision and said she still wants to take a stab at winning the state that hasn't voted for a Republican presidential candidate in two decades.

She also said she made her disagreement known to top campaign officials:

"I fired a quick e-mail and said, 'oh, come on! Do we have to call it there?' she said. " Todd and I would [be] happy to get to Michigan and walk through those plants [with] car manufacturers.

"We'd be so happy to get to speak with the people there in Michigan, who are hurting because the economy is hurting," she added. "Whatever we can do and whatever Todd and I can do in realizing what their challenges in that state are, as we can relate to them and connect with them and promise them that we won't let them down in the administration."

Earlier: Palin calls Obama comment 'reckless,' criticizes Couric

McCain aides told CNN Thursday Michigan increasingly appeared a long shot the Arizona senator and the campaign had decided to divert its resources there to other key battleground states. The latest CNN poll of polls in Michigan shows Obama with an 8 point lead in the state where the nation's economic woes have hit hard.

But Palin maintained Friday she and McCain still have a shot there.

"I want to get back to Michigan, and I want to try," she said.

What McCain is coming to realize, along with a reluctant Palin, is that this race is over. The right is holding on for dear life as indicated by the shrill tone of Faux News and others, but it's pretty clear that once they gave up Michigan, they are beginning to face facts. When you're a R candidate for President and your key states are VA, NC, NV, NH, OH, and FL, your goose is cooked. Absent something cataclysmic, this one's done.

She's a poorly educated moron. 5 colleges to get a bachelor's degree - she doesn't have a graduate degree. "Todd" has NOTHING past a high school diploma.

I want my doctors and world leaders to be ELITE... not mediocre, or in this case, sub-average.

". . .Todd and I"? You have GOT to be kidding! There are so many things wrong with that phrase in this situation. But if she cannot see it, I doubt that telling her will make a difference. This is a political office she is looking at, not a family fish fry! Or can she not tell the difference!!

i think she has some serious mental problems. this phony cutsie wink wink act is so transparent. what kind of a moron would vote for her and base that most important vote on some idea that she is a real hocky mom maverick. what the heck kind of reason is that to elect a vice-president/ president!!!!

Might as well close your campaign headquarters in FL, VA, NH, NC, and OH while you're at it. The U.S. is turning blue.

I heard this news this morning. Thanks for giving up so fast on Michigan. We may not be totally excited about McCaine... But we really can really relate with Gov. Palin. She has become the shining light, in our fly-over, blue collar state. (There's more to Michigan than Dems DETROIT). Just outside of that corrupt hole of city,... Is the rest of us! God fearing conservatives(Just like Palin!)
Just when we were feeling energy from the Rep. Party... They pulled the plug??? STUPID MOVE!

  15. Say Cheese Obama

This is ridiculous that you will not say anything about Obama that doesn't cast a beautiful spotlight on him. My comment about him campaigning in all 57 states is just as relevant as "Daddy said no," etc. , but you failed to place it under the comments. Your one-sidedness is sickening. What an embarrasment to your so-called unbiased reporting of the news!

Boy, she sure is cocky as of last night isn't she? Well, more cocky and arrogant than before. Are you Americans sure you want this woman in office, she herself, who said "I've only been at this for 5 weeks you know"...something to that effect.

Just think, you could have someone like her, God forbid should anything happen to McCain, as your president in the new year!

God help you all!! I can't believe you are such idiots!

Dear Mr/Ms Moderator. I've been posting a lot of comments...and they are always in moderation. Please post....I'm tired of wasting my time...is it because I'm Canadian? Thank you!

Palin is so ridiculous – her decision is all based on emotions, winking at the audience, as if the audience is the panel of beauty pageant judges. She is absolutely unqualified to be a VP, and God Bless America if she ever becomes the president. She insults everyone by refusing to answer questions and with such bravado dishonesty and with such moronic simplicity. A dangerous Bush Twin! She should ask where she can be deployed to help McCain, rather than just go to Michigan. Does she understand the difference between strategy and tactic – perhaps she is a McCain Twin – just like a bull in a china shop. Come to think of it, ship her to China, after sending her to Siberia first. Perhaps then she can come back in 1912. Guess it is 2012 and run agains Obama again.

I was under the impression that McBush/Ms Cheny with lipstick, VP hopeful were not going to turn their backs on the people of the great state of Michigan. What a cowards that they would not look at the people in their eyes and tell them. Go back and apologize to them for letting them down, spend some money, so that we can kick your butts at some other state that may be in play, like Missouri, Indiana, Ohio, Virginia, North Carolina. It Obama/Biden by a landslide 353 EV by my count, maybe higher come Nov. 4.

8 years of the dumbing of America by the Bush administration has brought us to this. How much lower can we set the bar for who belongs in the White House. This ticket is a joke!

I think it's unfair to single Palin out as unqualified and out of her depth. Her running mate is equally devoid of intelligence and ability, and based on his performance in this campaign, unfit for the Senate much less the presidency.
Of course, that doesn't mean they couldn't win...after all, Palin is the next step in the Bush legacy–wily old dad, stupid bumbling idiot of a son with a legacy degree from an actual school, to a simpleton without even the appearance of (thanks Bob Cesca) Fancy Book Learnin'
God save the U.S. of A., because its electorate may not.

I think Palin may do have a chance in MI, because she and her husband can connect with the workers in MI. Although she is not poor, she is the most modest of the four candidates.
