(CNN) – The McCain campaign decided this week that the battleground state of Michigan may be out of reach for the Republican ticket this year - a move that's drawn criticism from one prominent dissenter: VP nominee Sarah Palin.
Earlier: McCain cedes Michigan to Obama
In an interview with Fox News Friday the Republican vice presidential candidate appeared to be disappointed with the decision and said she still wants to take a stab at winning the state that hasn't voted for a Republican presidential candidate in two decades.
She also said she made her disagreement known to top campaign officials:
"I fired a quick e-mail and said, 'oh, come on! Do we have to call it there?' she said. " Todd and I would [be] happy to get to Michigan and walk through those plants [with] car manufacturers.
"We'd be so happy to get to speak with the people there in Michigan, who are hurting because the economy is hurting," she added. "Whatever we can do and whatever Todd and I can do in realizing what their challenges in that state are, as we can relate to them and connect with them and promise them that we won't let them down in the administration."

McCain aides told CNN Thursday Michigan increasingly appeared a long shot the Arizona senator and the campaign had decided to divert its resources there to other key battleground states. The latest CNN poll of polls in Michigan shows Obama with an 8 point lead in the state where the nation's economic woes have hit hard.

But Palin maintained Friday she and McCain still have a shot there.
"I want to get back to Michigan, and I want to try," she said.

MCCAIN MUST DO WHAT PALIN SAY OR BE DISCIPLINED. MCCAIN IF YOU SURRENDER TO A WOMAN, YOU WILL SHOW WEAKNESS.
sara go home and do something cook to much talk enogh.
Maybe she thinks her Gomer Pyle approach will work in Michigan. Come on Sarah listen to Grandpa McCain, he knows best about every subject in the world and he does not lie(Of course he was lying when he said that) I think she thinks her personality and charm will help the people in Michigan, maybe that will help lower gas prices and food costs, thanks Sarah!!!NOT!!!!
Put her to work. Get her up there. Keep her busy. Lost cause, but if it keeps her busy there while Obama attacks the Republican toss ups where he is also turning the polls, and the McCain campaign believes that will be best, do it.
Of course, they would be fools, as they have been this entire campaign. Then again, Palin can identify with a lost cause, can't she?
Obama's projected budget according to a study conducted by CNN a month ago was $360 Billion and McCains $415 – $460 Billion dollars.
CNN fact check misleading. While Obamas statements are given a True or False grade most of McCains are give True or Misleading grade leaving the idea placed there by the McCains campaign disproven allowing the uneducated voter still uninformed.
why waste time and resources where economy is the issue and mcCain dont understand economics let him move to where people are not hurting economically
She is an absolute joke! She had weeks and weeks to prepare for this debate and STILL you could tell she was reading grandpa Mcsames lines! Her little one liners and planned winks are a bunch of BULL!
The Katie Curic interview was the REAL Palin not the REHEARSED Palin for the debate.
WE must not allow this nut case to get in the Whitehouse!
Impressed with the VP debate. Definitely more levelled than the Presidential debate. I think McCains personal touch by sending an addressed and signed photograph shows McCain's effort for a good relationship witih the people at large to all who support him and his candidacy together with his 'maverick ' VPchoice Sarah Palin. That in itself is a clear picture of how McCain is able to go the distance to understand and make a difference at a personal level. He will win!
McCains decision to withdraw his effort to in Michigan is indeed his bowing to the inevitability of the lose there. On a more subtle note on Governor Palin not be aware of the decision only points out the McCain did not choose her as based on her qualifications or as a partner in the campaign rather his decision to choose her was cynical and calculating. Yet another indication that Senator McCain will and has "sold his soul to the devil" to win this election. Ironically, his going to these measures have only lessened his appeal to the independents that liked the Maverick. As long as the Republicans cater to the social conservatives who have hijacked the party this will contiune to happen.
Todd and I? What has he got to do with it?
We'd be so happy to get to speak with the people there in Michigan, who are hurting because the economy is hurting," she added. "Whatever we can do and whatever Todd and I can do in realizing what their challenges in that state are, as we can relate to them and connect with them and promise them that we won't let them down in the administration
Huh? Guess she didn't have cue cards for this one
So clueless-they'll be lucky if they hold onto Missouri and Indiana by 11/4.
Obama/Biden '08
Translation- "I want to see if my bullcrap Hockey Mom routine will work in Michigan." Get over it. You sunk McCain's ship even deeper into the abyss. WASP!!! WomenAgainstSarahPalin
So, it really is a "Palin-McCain" ticket in her mind, huh? Or maybe it's the "Todd and Sarah Show"? Get this Sarah – it's financial....he's running low on cash, has to prioritize – focus on somewhere he thinks he has a chance in hell of taking a victory from Obama – Michigan apparently isn't it....
Shouldn't your kids be in school??? Why do I see them EVERYWHERE on the campaign trail with you?? Is the family photo-op more important?
SarahPalinIsNoHillaryClinton;WomenAgainstSarahPalin/WASP!!!
Translation: McCain is losing, isn't including her in any decisions, Sarah knows it and after thinking that she can now 'debate' is positioning herself for 2012. Wheels are comin' off the bus and Sarah is ready for her close up. Her comment at the debate regarding expanding the VP's influence over the Senate should give everyone pause.
Is this part of her thinking that the VP should have more power. I listened to her last night and I thought "boy she really is devious." Do she realize that she is a 44 year old women and not a 20 year old pageant girl. The winking the eyes and voice going up and down (oh that awful voice) just made me ill. What makes me even sicker is that you have people falling for her crap. McCain you better watch out because you just might end up in her way. There is no telling what she is capable of. People try to say that Obama is the anti-christ but you need to look at Palin. She has all of the characteristics of one of satan's imps if I've ever seen one. All in the name of Jesus, huh Palin.
dont worry about todd if they win mcCain will have to sit back and watch palin finish destroying america.she like to have her own way thats who she is and palin will take the presidency right from under mcSTUPID,so just keep watching how this play out.
With comments like these, no wonder the bar was set so low for her at the debate ... And why do people keep saying she's a good politician? Didn't anybody talk to her about staying on message?
Sheesh – talk about reckless! Maybe she should have another heart-to-heart with Katie to clear things up ... Oh, I forgot, she wants to be "unfiltered".
As a Michigan voter, I say "Thanks but no thanks. Don't come here"
Palin is back. she rocked last night and we know she made a huge impact (the liberal bloggers are going crazy trying to discredit her). Good luck guys, she's only going to become more popular the more she campaigns
Michigan, with the worst economy in the nation, cannot seem to realize the damage the dems have done. They reelected a pathetic Democratic Governor and both US Senators are dems. You'd think they would learn their lesson.
Wait a minute!! I thought Todd was being subpoenaed! Since when does he have time to campaign?! Oh, that's right...he doesn't have to comply. The Palins would really look good in Cheney's office laughing at how they got away with it again.
I can hear the hissy fits of "Radical Left" just depressed and of course in a hostile mood, that Palin didn't give them the 'Gaffes" they were so desperately and so giggly counting on...Too Bad, so I guess you all have to go back to personal attacks.
Take a que from the Bimbos on "The View". Like the Dingbat "Joy" who says Palin "is dumb". Joy...Please, you calling someone "dumb" is like Rosie calling someone else "Calorically challenged ".
The mere fact you're trying to bring your husband along is telling enough!
If you were on an interviewing committee, and she came in for the interview, and spoke to you like she did last night....
would you hire her?
Mrs. Palin, what makes you a good hire?
Gee Whiz, I am just a joe six pack, hockey mom. (wink)
