Palin hits Obama for 'terrorist' connection

In remarks Saturday, Gov. Palin sought to link Sen. Obama with 1970's radical William Ayers, according to a statement released by the McCain-Palin campaign.
In remarks Saturday, Gov. Palin sought to link Sen. Obama with 1970's radical William Ayers, according to a statement released by the McCain-Palin campaign.

ENGLEWOOD, Colorado (CNN) - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin on Saturday slammed Sen. Barack Obama's political relationship with a former anti-war radical, accusing him of associating "with terrorists who targeted their own country."

Palin's attack delivered on the McCain campaign's announcement that it would step up attacks on the Democratic presidential candidate with just a month left before the November general election.

"We see America as the greatest force for good in this world," Palin said at a fund-raising event in Colorado, adding, "Our opponent though, is someone who sees America it seems as being so imperfect that he's palling around with terrorists who would target their own country."

Palin made similar comments later at a rally in Carson, California.

Obama's Chicago home is in the same neighborhood as Bill Ayers, a founder of the radical Weather Underground that was involved in several bombings in the early 1970s, including the Pentagon and the Capitol, and the two have met several times since Obama's 1995 campaign for an Illinois state senate seat.

The Republicans will say and do anything to distract the American public from the real issues. They are loosing the election so they are resorting to their dirty strategies. Americans are smarter and more informed than they think. We know desperation when we see it.

In a speech a few days ago, McCain repeatedly returned to the need for bipartisan cooperation in Washington to confront the nation's biggest problems, primarily with the economy.

How, then does a launch of Swiftboat-like attacks for the sake of deflecting attention away from important issues to character defamation show any bi-partisan leadership quality?

I hope those voters that are able to ask questions Tuesday night might consider posing such a question to McCain: If you're plans will truly bring about positive change for Americans, why the need for negative campaigning?

What about Palin's connections with the secessionist Alaska Independence Party? Apparently, they plan to work with the Russians to create an "independent" Alaska... just like Ossetia did.

I am so frustrated with John McCain and Sarah Palin! They claim to be christians....... I want to know what being a christian means to them. It is ok to bash someone and lie about someone to get what you want.. I have not once heard Obama or Biden hit so far below the belt as this. It is quite a let down. I am beginning to have less and less respect for McCain/Palin the more I hear. Stick to the reason you are running for office. Have a little respect for yourself and please respect the American people that you claim to love and want to serve respectfully but actually respecting us enough to make the right decision based on FACT....

You are getting scared..... soooo scared!!!! This is the kind of tactic people that are grasping at straws use. How sad!!

by the way,, My husband is a soldier in the military and has been to Iraq twice. We would like to know what your definition of "WIN" is when it comes to the war in Iraq.

PLEASE HAVE A LITTLE RESPECT FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE AND STICK TO THE THINGS THAT ARE IMPORTANT TO US.... OUR FUTURE!! You would think that a war veteran would know a little something about honor (something he claims to have) sooo sooo sad!!

They say that when everything falls. Go ahead and throw the kitchen sink. Well I guess its time to label one of your own US Senator a terrorist. Palin is a true attack dog and nothing else. She should be ashamed of herself and you should all be ashamed if you think that McCain is a decent person. These Republican need to go. Line them all up across the "bridge to nowhere" and hang them for what they have done to this country over the last 10 years. Eight of them with the biggest loser of them all (BUSH) and two during the last 2 years of Clinton when things for this country began to go the wrong way. That song America the Beautiful is more like "America the Pitifull" We need to change that image of ours and not let McCain/Palin or any other Republican near our government.

Typical of a Republican response, trying to turn from the real issues and attacking character. Ayers committed those attacks when Obama was a child. At least Obama did not abuse his powers like Palin has appeared to have done.

What respect I had for Sarah Palin is rapidly disappearing.

Sarah, you are no Hillary Clinton and are even worse than George Bush. I guess you need some NovoMcCain to handle your PA"L"IN .

Why don't you go to life shows like CNN and say this... CNN should stop listening to the empty scripted person if she is not able to come on even Larry King and do a show.

Even Briteny Spears and Paris Hilton are about to do a live show on national TV to defend theselves.

Why can Sarah Palin come to do a show on CNN but will run to go tape show is FOX.

CNN should black out this pretender. I stopped been scared of what McCain doubious campaing will say. I am feed up of this double standard.

Reading script of a paper is a VP debate was even scored as a good performance. CNN stop this and treat Sarah Palin as a Candidate for VIce President of America and let her tell America how and why she should be trusted.

I'm beginning to think the "lipstick on a pig" comment SHOULD have been directed at Sarah Palin, and that it would have been far too mild as a description of who and what she is.

That is just plain RUDE! How offensive and just desperate! Does the repub camp have any manners, here in sunny England, we're by no means perfect, but our politicians attack the oppositions policies, judgement and political integrity and persona, but NEVER their personal character. They should be ashamed of themselves, but i am not surprised. They have shown themselves to be completely below the belt, they are not capable of putting together any coherent policies to help Americans through these difficult times, so they deflected attention from that and Palin's incompetence and inexperience by dirty tricks and spreadingnblatant lies. Please dont fall for it America, this election is too important for you and the world at large in trying times. And Palin is a insult to all smart women, and whats with the winking?!Imagine if Thatcher or Clinton started winking, it'd be ridiculed but no some Americans fall for it! No wonder the rest of the world thinks u are utterly idiots?! Show us u aren't!! (Im sure all aren't!)

This woman truly is the devil. I used to respect McCain for being a maverick and logical thinker but picking her shows a complete lack of judgement. She offers absolutely NOTHING for the country.

Part of me thinks they're prepping her for 2012 or 2016 which before these comments would not have been horrible, but this brings new light as to how dangerous she really is to the country.
