Palin hits Obama for 'terrorist' connection

In remarks Saturday, Gov. Palin sought to link Sen. Obama with 1970's radical William Ayers, according to a statement released by the McCain-Palin campaign.
In remarks Saturday, Gov. Palin sought to link Sen. Obama with 1970's radical William Ayers, according to a statement released by the McCain-Palin campaign.

ENGLEWOOD, Colorado (CNN) - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin on Saturday slammed Sen. Barack Obama's political relationship with a former anti-war radical, accusing him of associating "with terrorists who targeted their own country."

Palin's attack delivered on the McCain campaign's announcement that it would step up attacks on the Democratic presidential candidate with just a month left before the November general election.

"We see America as the greatest force for good in this world," Palin said at a fund-raising event in Colorado, adding, "Our opponent though, is someone who sees America it seems as being so imperfect that he's palling around with terrorists who would target their own country."

Palin made similar comments later at a rally in Carson, California.

Obama's Chicago home is in the same neighborhood as Bill Ayers, a founder of the radical Weather Underground that was involved in several bombings in the early 1970s, including the Pentagon and the Capitol, and the two have met several times since Obama's 1995 campaign for an Illinois state senate seat.

Sorry Republicans, the American people are (finally) on to your lies and scummy tactics. Your time is over.

This is really disturbing tactic coming from a vice presidential candidate. McCaine and Palin should be ashamed of these tactics. In these difficult days, we are looking for solid answers from the candidates and not such useless character attacks. Another such irresponsible attack from the McCaine and Palin campaign and I am voting for Obama-Biden. I am sick of these people not attempting to come up with answers to our nation's problems.

And here we go. Could set you watch by this. The GOP pulls out their nothing new smear card.

Let's discuss Keating 5, and oh while your attacking his character let's talk about how McCain had an affair while still married. Yes, let's do that.

This is really sad. I am so glad the American people have nothing better to worry about than who Obama had casual ties with when he was younger... Good Job McCain Palin, you can't beat Obama with gimmicks or policy ideas so you do the only thing you are good at: ad homonym attacks. Great job! You have all the argumentative ability of grade school bullies.
I wonder how it feels to sell your soul for the presidency...

Hearing that Gov. Palin has launched personal attacks on Sen. Obama – attacks that have absolutely NO relationship to the truth, not only infuriates me, but makes me even more certain, that neither she nor Senator McCain, have an ounce of integrity. They are desperate and will communicate hateful lies in order to win. This is the sort of strategy that we have had to put up with for the last 8 years. it is one of the reasons the USA is no longer respected by the world. It makes me want to work that much harder to ensure that Obama – the candidate with integrity wins.

Ms. Palin Americans are tired of the lies and the politics of fear. If that is all you got give it up. If you have something positive and truthful to say then people may start to listen.

At some point America, we have to make a stand against attacks like this. This is not about Obama nor McCain but the respect and integrity of the process in which our President is chosen.

For a campaign to stoop so low to go into personal attacks in the midst of one of the most historice economic crisis, in the midst of two wars and in the midst of the pain of so many Americans dose a disservice to our country and ALL of its citizens.

Before anyone goes partisan let me ask you this. Would you approve of this action for your children to follow if they too one day sought the Presidency.

At some point we need to rise above this era of Lies, Deciet and Decpetion.

Break out the Palin pastor video protecting her from witches. Let's talk about troopergate and Palin's cronies avoiding subpoenas. These attacks should not be allowed to go unanswered

She and the entire McCain campaign are disgusting. No matter who I chose to vote for, this is unacceptable. If they can't beat him fair and square without this type of disgusting trash, then they should give it up. I now know that I am definately voting for Obama.

This should come as no surprise as McCain and Palin have little to offer the American people. Sadly, my GOP has hoodwinked the electorate this way over the last 8 years. This year, only the ignorant will fall for that.

And.....as a woman with a graduate education, I am insulted that McCain would think that I would fall in behind the "Stepford Wife" he has chosen as his running mate.

Let me get this straight...a man of mixed racial heritage, educated in American schools and colleges (some the best I might add), born and raised in the US with 2 small litle girls (who are absolutely beautiful) is a terroists. Maybe that's why we can identify the real terrorist cells in the United States, because we don't have a good matrix for them. Let me try; born on foreign soil with deep ties to that and other countries, pays mostly in cash, a loner, ect...see what I am saying.

McCain is desperate, weak, shameless, and sad. People saw through the other gimmicks and they'll see through this one too. How ugly to prey on fear and 9/11 trauma this way.

Palin and McCain are desperate at this point. Previously undecided voters are choosing Obama and Biden, all that McCain and Palin are doing is pandering to their base with their desperate mud-slinging.

How can Palin say anything when she won't even abide by her own judicial system. You better be careful Palin, you forgot how messy you were and still is in Alaska. McCain can't shield you from all your dirt.

It is only going to get uglier from here on out. McCain and Palin are facing almost certain defeat and will now pull out any manner of lies and slander to attempt one last 'Hail Mary' in the election. There is absolutely no compelling reason to vote FOR McCain/Palin so they must make a case against Obama. It won't work but all Obama supporters should be ready to get out there and hit back.
