New Obama ad tries to focus nation's attention on the economy

The Obama campaign released another Sunday that has economic themes.

The Obama campaign released another Sunday that has economic themes.

(CNN) – With a month until Election Day, the Obama campaign is trying keep voters’ attention focused on their pocketbooks and retirement savings accounts.

In “This Year,” the latest in a string of Obama ads with economic themes, the Democratic nominee uses images of locked factory gates and anxiety on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. “Erratic in a crisis. Out of touch on the economy,” the ad says as images of Sen. John McCain getting off an airplane and riding a golf cart appear on screen.

The commercial comes amid talk of McCain preparing to adopt a more aggressive strategy in the final month of the general election campaign, first reported Saturday in the Washington Post.

“Struggling families can’t turn the page on this economy,” the ad says.

The McCain campaign has not responded to CNN's request for comment about "This Year."

The new ad will begin airing Monday on national cable outlets, according to the Obama campaign.

(Full script after the jump)

Script, "This Year," 30 seconds, national cable:

ANNCR: Three quarters of a million jobs lost this year.

Our financial system in turmoil.

And John McCain? Erratic in a crisis. Out of touch on the economy.

No wonder his campaign’s announced a plan to “turn a page on the financial crisis”…distract with dishonest, dishonorable “assaults” against Barack Obama.

Struggling families can’t turn the page on this economy…and we can’t afford another President who’s this out of touch.

Obama: I’m Barack Obama and I approve this message.

The way that a candidate runs his campaign speaks volumes about what type of leader they will be. The McCain campaign has shown inability to rationally work through a crisis, attacking people who disagree or make him feel threatened, and taking gambles when under pressure and hoping for the best. These sort of traits in a leader are very, very dangerous not only for the USA, but for the rest of the world as well. God help us if he is elected.

Seriously, have we not heard all these rumors before? I'm so tired of hearing the same false statements over and over from John McCain and his pathetic constituents. It makes me so angry beyond belief that someone can go before the American people at times like this and blatantly lie to their facts. John McCain needs to bow out gracefully and stop making the rest of us look bad.

after listening to the mornings news on CNN, I am startled to see that, yet again, the republicans can say anything damaging that they feel like saying, i.e.Obama hangs with terrorists while McCain was an actual actor in one of the worst scandals ever, Savings and Loan-Keating. Have we forgotten? I can never see Obama going to the regulators to ask for favors. How forgetful are we as a country??

Let us focus on Obama's radical ties. Tell the truth CNN. Obama launched his political career in Ayers living room. This is a fact.

Obama's campaign advisers caused the Fannie Mae and Lehman meltdowon and they all work for Obama. Obama was the 2nd biggest recipient of campaign donations from Fannie Mae, behind only Barney Frank and Chris dodd (respective finance committee chairmen in the House and Senate – how cozy and how profitable for all of them

FRANKLIN RAINES , Fannie Mae CEO left in disgrace with $240 Million in benefits. The Government filed suit against Raines when the depth of the accounting scandal became clear Raines now
works for the Obama Campaign as Chief Economic Advisor

TIM HOWARD Fannie Mae CFO Howard's Golden
Parachute was estimated at $20 Million! He is now a Chief Economic Advisor to Obama

JIM JOHNSON, a former Lehman executive Johnson's Golden
Parachute was estimated at $28 Millionon. Lehman went under Johnson was hired as a Senior Obama Finance Advisor and was selected to run Obama's Vice Presidential Search Committee

IF OBAMA PLANS ON CLEANING UP THE MESS – HIS ADVISORS HAVE THE EXPERTISE – THEY MADE THE MESS IN THE FIRST PLACE. Would you trust the men who tore Wall Street down to build the New Wall Street or advise its new President

McCain/Palin & company (i.e. Democrats trust McCain) call Senator Obama a "terrorist sympathizer" even though he was only eight years old when Ayers was taking part in his radical activities, only met him a few times and repudiated those radical activities once he found out about them.

McCain, on the other hand, said the fundamentals of the U.S. economy were sound despite the dire financial crisis; keeps out and out lying about Obama's tax plan raising taxes on those making 42K and up; "suspended" his campaign to "rush" back to Washington even though he kept running his ads, sending surrogates out to bash Obama and remained in New York for another day to do press interviews; bellyaches about press that are supposedly biased against him even when they're reporting the truth such as his campaign manager's financial ties to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac; bashes Obama, blaming him for the financial crisis and then saying "it's not the time for partisan politics"; derides the bailout bill then votes for it; allows surrogates to bash VP debate moderator Gwen Ifil for the "revelation" that she's writing a book that is partially about Barack Obama despite the fact that the publication of the book was announced back in July; and now sends his "lipstick pitbull" running mate out to deliver this borderline racist "he's not like us" diatribe about alleged radical ties that have been disproven and dismissed by most of the reputable media.

    Erratic? Definitely.

    Idealogically bankrupt? Absolutely.

    Unfit to be President? Positively.

OBAMA-BIDEN in 2008. Vote as if America's future depends on it.

"Irratic" McCain and "Beyond Unqualified" Palin have nothing left but to move to scare tactics, twisting of the truith and blantant lies; that's definitely putting Country First, you think? When are they giong to let Americans know what their plan is to jump start our econmony, restore our credibility in the international community; and the list goes on(Bottome line, they don't have a plan or a clue). Both McCain and especially Palin have YET to answer a direct question; not one. They are pulling at straws to win an election but not take care of this Country as a whole. Their tactics they are using are a reminder & the same tactics Bush used in 2000; like they say; more the same.

    OBAMA/BIDEN 2008/2012!

It is obvious that you have been asleep these past 8 years. If you had paid any attention, you would realize that the Bush Republicans have done more to violate the constitution than any other previous governments. They have been wiretapping, and monitoring e-mails and telephone calls of innocent people. Now they have almost bankrupt the country with their deficit spending – especially the money spent on the Iraq war which was based on lies told by Bush and Cheney.

Wake up and use what little IQ you seem to have to examine the truth.
McCain has lied his way through this campaign and he will keep up the Swift Boating because he is desperate and has no integrity.
Obama is the only person who can help to get the country back on track.

Palin's comments should anger every American because they think we are as dumb as her and we can be distracted by false comments. If this does not prove that McCain is like Bush then nothing will. God bless American and please save us from these two unstable people because we have a lot of work to do to get this great country of ours back to it's rightful place in the world.

allen- Do you even speak english? No wonder Sarah Palin is reaching some of you. Your displaying an aproximately 5th grade thought process and Palin comes across like a nice 4th grade teacher. No wonder Bush won(stole) two terms. All you morons speak the same giberish. Even adult republicans agree that times are desperate for MCcains chances. Do yourself a favor allen, go back to school and leave the political blogs to the Big people, run along now.

I can't figure out why all politics is so bitter these days. There's so much hate out there and I don't know why. It makes me not want to vote for ANYONE, because what does it matter? The same politicians are going to do what they always do and then they will spend their time blaming each other for whatever goes wrong. And, if I don't believe the same as the person sitting next to me, I am roundly criticized for not thinking the same way. Why is that? Why is it that Congress' approval rating is so very low, but everyone is going to vote back in the incumbents? It's the same at the state level. And it feels like all of this public fighting is just cheering the countries on that hate us. I think we are all screwed and I've pretty much given up.

Sarah Palin is a LIAR. No sane intelligent person is going to believe a words she says. Its amazing that She and those who "program" her just continue to repeat the same lies over and over. Ones that have been proven false over and over. Wake up people. Check out the facts, before you just believe anything you read!!

I applaud Obama for running a campaign with integrity. I'd never vote for a ticket of pathetic character slammers that use fear tactics to get votes because they can't come up with the REAL stuff that Americans are concerned about. I've not heard John McCain present any solid plan about the economy, and it's almost election day. Sad. McCain and Puppet Palin are grasping at straws because they are losing. I just pray to God that the American people are wise enough to digest that. The REAL 'maverick' here is Barack Obama. I admire anyone who goes against the flow, and steps into a $10,000 per year job in an inner city to help those less fortunate. The 'mavericks' are so stupid that they don't realize that a maverick is a lone ranger ... not part of a team. McCain is a clone of George Bush ... certainly no maverick. Palin is naive parrot who will spout off scripted text from memory to please the Republicans because she doesn't have the intellect to participate in real discussion and debates, which she has proven with Couric, etc. Again .... certainly doesn't equate to maverick status.

Obama/Biden '08 ..... the wise choice for America!
