New Obama ad tries to focus nation's attention on the economy

The Obama campaign released another Sunday that has economic themes.

The Obama campaign released another Sunday that has economic themes.

(CNN) – With a month until Election Day, the Obama campaign is trying keep voters’ attention focused on their pocketbooks and retirement savings accounts.

In “This Year,” the latest in a string of Obama ads with economic themes, the Democratic nominee uses images of locked factory gates and anxiety on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. “Erratic in a crisis. Out of touch on the economy,” the ad says as images of Sen. John McCain getting off an airplane and riding a golf cart appear on screen.

The commercial comes amid talk of McCain preparing to adopt a more aggressive strategy in the final month of the general election campaign, first reported Saturday in the Washington Post.

“Struggling families can’t turn the page on this economy,” the ad says.

The McCain campaign has not responded to CNN's request for comment about "This Year."

The new ad will begin airing Monday on national cable outlets, according to the Obama campaign.

(Full script after the jump)

Script, "This Year," 30 seconds, national cable:

ANNCR: Three quarters of a million jobs lost this year.

Our financial system in turmoil.

And John McCain? Erratic in a crisis. Out of touch on the economy.

No wonder his campaign’s announced a plan to “turn a page on the financial crisis”…distract with dishonest, dishonorable “assaults” against Barack Obama.

Struggling families can’t turn the page on this economy…and we can’t afford another President who’s this out of touch.

Obama: I’m Barack Obama and I approve this message.

On this blog CNN has fact checked Palin's incredulous attack on Obama's non existent political ties with Ayers, yet CNN's morning shows continually ran the clip of her stating these false allegations.

Not a word was given to state her comments were FALSE!! Thus, you are spreading comments that you have categorically found to be LIES! What kind of news organization are you???

Bill Ayers is not simply a person who lives in Barack's neighborhood and I think CNN is being dangerous by not telling the truth and not truthfully reporting the relationship these two have had for years.

You cannot befriend and dine with Charles Manson and essentially say there is nothing wrong with it because he is a changed man and what he did happened too many years ago and this is what O'bama want's people to do with Bill Ayers, who has never apologized for his radical anti-American terrorism, who tried to blow up the NYC Police Dept. and who is hiding now under the guise of a charity and O'bama campain volunteer as well as donor. O'Bama was the chairman of Ayers committee. How can CNN continue to brush the truth aside?

There you go again Sarah Palin....bringing up the past when Obama was 8! O I forgot...you said Senator Biden was bringing up the past when he talked about the last 8 years of Bush! O...but Bush is still with us! You need to leave the past alone...remember Trooper Gate? O but that is still on-going too?

The ' You Betcha, Wink Wink' ticket is raising the level of political discourse once again. Gosh Darnit.

When all else fails, spread lies like manure, something's likely to grow out of it. Be careful Sarah, don't slip in it. You will end up lying in it and staring up at the moon.

'Well, gawwwlly, I can see the moon from here. I must be an astronomer.'

It is so perfectly clear across the board to me. Obama and Biden have integrity while McCain and Palin don't. It's as simple as that!

Palin, is spewing lies, and then those who are supporting her and McBush, are just as responsible for the economy problems as Bush! We have a choice, make the right one, or shut up! Obama! The only choice!

It is difficult for me to comprehend that the Obama supporters even know what they are talking about or do any research on his background, before and during his current 'career'. Tell me, truthfully, what 'experience' does HE have? He has voted on all these bills but a few, with the answer of 'present'. Is this what qualifies him, or is it because he is a nice looking guy, and a good speaker when the teleprompter is there?

Wailin' Palin, go back to your $500,000 home on the lake with your husband's plane tied to the dock and enjoy your $1,000,000 NET worth. You are a liar and you are corrupt.

The republican party thrives on the ignorance of most Americans. They know that all they have to do is get a lie started and it will stick for a very long time. No wonder so many people watch FOX news. We can do better than this people.

Because Bringing Up Terrorists from When Obama Was 8 is Not Going To Fix the Economy!

At least one of the candidates is concentrating on what matters, and not mumbling on about the Vietnam war or trying to tell us what a "maverick" he is in a time when we need rational thinkers.

Palin probably has her witchdoctor Muthee making a voodoo doll right now, because a Republican win in this election will take drastic measures.

I advise you, Allan , to start preparing immigration papers so you can live in a foreign county by January 2009–either that, or go jump off a tall bridge. Maybe BAT-242 would hold hands with you and you could jump together.

If someone really, actually had "bad character", it would be out in a flash, like the news about McCain and Palin's obvious and also their carefully concealed character flaws (Keating 5, Troopergate, banning books, etc).

since Obama is wholesome and clean, desperate GOP campaign
with nothing better to say or to do uses 11th hour to lie and smear-
well, we can all see through that one.

Obama/Biden, what a fantastic combination. Economic experience combined with Foreign policy experience.

McCain has missed again and he should just forget about the election, he got it wrong the first time he picked Palin as his running mate just to win 18 million Hillary supporter, he got wrong when he tried to run away from the debate and now he got wrong again trying to divert the attention of Americans from the issues (economic crisis) affecting the lifes of all Americans.

Americans deserves a focused, stable, inlleligent, honest and caring President, Americans deserve Barack Obama.

    McCain/Palin is a confussed team.

Its funny, who in america hasn't experimented as a youth? His "anti-america" contacts have continuously been disproven, he's supported the military and vets benefits more than McCain, and the economy what matters now. Or do you only read red propoganda?
