New Obama ad tries to focus nation's attention on the economy

The Obama campaign released another Sunday that has economic themes.

The Obama campaign released another Sunday that has economic themes.

(CNN) – With a month until Election Day, the Obama campaign is trying keep voters’ attention focused on their pocketbooks and retirement savings accounts.

In “This Year,” the latest in a string of Obama ads with economic themes, the Democratic nominee uses images of locked factory gates and anxiety on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. “Erratic in a crisis. Out of touch on the economy,” the ad says as images of Sen. John McCain getting off an airplane and riding a golf cart appear on screen.

The commercial comes amid talk of McCain preparing to adopt a more aggressive strategy in the final month of the general election campaign, first reported Saturday in the Washington Post.

“Struggling families can’t turn the page on this economy,” the ad says.

The McCain campaign has not responded to CNN's request for comment about "This Year."

The new ad will begin airing Monday on national cable outlets, according to the Obama campaign.

(Full script after the jump)

Script, "This Year," 30 seconds, national cable:

ANNCR: Three quarters of a million jobs lost this year.

Our financial system in turmoil.

And John McCain? Erratic in a crisis. Out of touch on the economy.

No wonder his campaign’s announced a plan to “turn a page on the financial crisis”…distract with dishonest, dishonorable “assaults” against Barack Obama.

Struggling families can’t turn the page on this economy…and we can’t afford another President who’s this out of touch.

Obama: I’m Barack Obama and I approve this message.

You Obama Talk — BUSH,BUSH. Stop it. The same -BUSH. I love to see Bush 4 more years than 1 day of Obama.
The above written by 'allan'. You SIR are either in denial, or just one of the few who benefit from the failed economic policies of the Republican REGIME. OR, you are just plain dumb, and possibly racist. You are probably just as ignorant as most Republicans. It's no wonder, because you all don't care about EDUCATION. Go read a book or something.

Well done. I, for one, plan to vote on the issues. A wink, smile or lie from Palin won't put any money in my pocket. Nor will it pay for my gas or pay for my mortgage. McCain must think we're idiots.

As I see it this is the very reason why America is hemraging. The same people who voted for BUSH IT in the past two elections wants to finish the job by not only destroying AMERICA but the World. A vote for McCain/PALIN ticket is a front row seat to destruction of America. If anything ever happened to McCain [MAY GOD FORBID] can you honestly picture Palin as the PRESIDENT of The UNITED STATES of AMERICA. The debate she had with biden went well for her own standards as if she was cast as supporting role in a school play, but not ready for prime time. She rehearsed and rehearsed til she got it right to gratify the republican party. But sadly enough she or the republicans failed to address real issues such as economic plan what needs to be done NOW! In reality there is no rehearsel you don't get a second chance to rehearse. She will be meeting with world leaders and have to answer tough questions. Winking and looking pretty will only det you so far but not the WHITE HOUSE. Please exit stage left.

  8. Canadian perspective

As a Canadian watching this election from the outside, it is beyond my imagination how anyone could vote for the McCain/Palin ticket. It's very frightening to see that so many people still support the GOP...it's frightening here as well because our economy (Canada is the US' largest foreign supplier of energy, including oil, gas, uranium, and electric power.) is so tied to yours. I believe that Obama represents everything the US needs to get back on track domestically and internationally. I've been reading these posts for the last 2-3 weeks and it's refreshing to see so much support for Obama/Biden, and it's also funny to read the comments left by supporters of McCain. They lack substance, are not based on evidence and are out of touch with reality. Please vote for Obama in Nov, and we'll do our best to get Stephen Harper out of office too!

You guys have to be brain washed.

This economic mess is the Democrats, pushing for loans with no down payments, and when the housing prices dropped, people walked away from the losses. This is Mack, and Schummer, and Liberal Finanical Brain Childs wanting socialistic banking.

The $3-$4 dollar gas price is also the Democrats. The Right tryed to get a energy plan 8 years ago, that the Left just caved to, as they had to. Drill Baby Drill is necessary. China, India, Pakistan, and these growing nations getting into the market tightened the supply, and the market started to buy up quantities to hedge price increases, and that drove it up more.

I'd love a green form of energy, but where is it. I live in Minnesota, and a efficient battery form of vehicle has not been offered to the market.

The volt is the first technology I might trust, and it will storm onto the market close to $40,000. The average American, including me can not afford that.

I watch and read a lot of news, and you are all misguided.

This ad is right on the money....literally. This is the type of stuff people care about now. People are HURTING financially and emotionally. And many are hurting physicially because of our dismal healthcare system. McCain/Palin JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND!!!
And for Palin to go around the country spewing this filth, these lies about Obama and homegrown terrorists, is even lower than the lows they hit weeks ago. (Oh, and you GOPers... read CNN's FactCheck on this awful claim by Palin and company: FALSE!! FALSE!! FALSE!!)
Palin is strutting around like she won the VP debate and she's all America is talking about. Well, read the polls, sweetie. You LOST bigtime. And your ticket is losing bigtime. And most Americans are tuning you out.
Talk about the issues or get off the stage. Learn the answer the questions asked of you, not just what you want to talk about. Or get off the stage.
It's time for McCain to retire and for Palin to go back to Alaska.

    "Obama , Is A Terrorist Sympathizer ."

    You, Are a Dumb Person.

At best, you are cowering in the face of a reductionist smear. More likely, you're just another cryptoracist trying to find the right way to say that you "won't vote for no darkie." Our country doesn't need you.

This is the McCain and Palin change that they want to pursue.

Palin wants to change the Constitution of the United States to benefit her position as Vice President, which Bush and Cheney did, which is very, very scary.

McCain and Palin ticket is a very dangerous ticket and will be a plague to the U.S. if elected.

McCain is a disgrace in full definition – Al Queda for McCain '08, you betcha! The melt down of America's economy will continue in favor of McCain-just what Al Queda wishes to happen.

People of the United States for Obama '08.

To call Obama a terrorist sympathizer in a post 9/11 world is an ugly slander demeaning to the mudslinging politicians who create it and to the American public who must endure its stench.

  16. Women are the Problem

Why is is that women continue to reject any woman that comes close to the White House? So far they have rejected Geraldine Ferraro, Hillary Clinton and now Sarah Palin. Since these three have widely varying political views, it can't be a matter of politics. Rather it's the idea that women understand themselves–their capabilities and their emotions-and since they do understand this, they are very fearful of putting a woman in the White House. Until women get over themselves, we'll never have a woman in the White House.

The polls are showing that the American People understands the much needed CHANGE that Obama’s ticket will bring to this country. His rival just attack and attack Obama because he doesn't have anything substantial to say! At the VP debate Biden's rival also just attack and attack she didn't respond to questions; it was like she was doing a speech instead of a debate! She says what comes to her head and disregards the subject at hand. Can you imagine how would any problem be resolved if they can even focus on the subject?

Obama wants to dialog with other countries leaders not to spread hate and war like his rival.

What will be the DRIVING FORCE of the ECONOMY is the question.

If POTUS and congress impose increased taxes and additional spending, then the Michigan and California scenarios will play out on the national/ global stage.
However, wildly popular these two governors of differing parties may be with their constituents, both, with their legislatures, have taxed and/or spent their states into an abyss of debt, unemployment and loss of business.

No, if all of you would just buy the line that the Unstable/Unable team wants you to buy, you should not think about the last eight years, but only about the next four. If nothing else, McCain and Palin have demonstrated that they don't have a CLUE as to what to do in times of crisis. The next four years are going to be very difficult for all of us. I would rather have stable persons as President and Vice-President than to have a skittish old man and his twit of a running mate.

Bush policies has Terrorized our Economic system: Listening to Palin and whatching the debate brought this to mind: Proverbs 6 12-14

A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth.
He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers; Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord.

All of her winking, lying and discord has an end result for tht ticket.

Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy. Proverbs 6:15

  24. Who's the Best Governor in the U.S.?

Sarah Barracuda has an approval rating of 70%-the highest in the United States. Why?

Well, she sends checks to Alaska's citizens every year in amounts ranging from $3,000 to $ 20,000. Plus she has no state income tax and no sales tax.

What are you getting from your Governor?

John McCain is a typical bully. He's the guy who tries to build himself up by tearing others down - that is who he has been all his life.

    John McCain = "Me, First"

And McCain claims convicted felon and terrorism advocate G. Gordon Liddy as his dear friend - Liddy, who is a fundraiser and contributor to McCain's own campaign. Liddy, of Watergate fame.

John McCain would rather tear this country down rather than lift the average American UP. He's in this for himself and to someday outrank his daddy and granddaddy.

McCain uses Palin as a parrot – that's why she's not really allowed to have interviews (look how awful she is at it)... as McCain says: "When I want your opinion, I'll give it to you."
