New Obama ad tries to focus nation's attention on the economy

The Obama campaign released another Sunday that has economic themes.
The Obama campaign released another Sunday that has economic themes.

(CNN) – With a month until Election Day, the Obama campaign is trying keep voters’ attention focused on their pocketbooks and retirement savings accounts.

In “This Year,” the latest in a string of Obama ads with economic themes, the Democratic nominee uses images of locked factory gates and anxiety on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. “Erratic in a crisis. Out of touch on the economy,” the ad says as images of Sen. John McCain getting off an airplane and riding a golf cart appear on screen.

The commercial comes amid talk of McCain preparing to adopt a more aggressive strategy in the final month of the general election campaign, first reported Saturday in the Washington Post.

“Struggling families can’t turn the page on this economy,” the ad says.

The McCain campaign has not responded to CNN's request for comment about "This Year."

The new ad will begin airing Monday on national cable outlets, according to the Obama campaign.

(Full script after the jump)

Script, "This Year," 30 seconds, national cable:

ANNCR: Three quarters of a million jobs lost this year.

Our financial system in turmoil.

And John McCain? Erratic in a crisis. Out of touch on the economy.

No wonder his campaign’s announced a plan to “turn a page on the financial crisis”…distract with dishonest, dishonorable “assaults” against Barack Obama.

Struggling families can’t turn the page on this economy…and we can’t afford another President who’s this out of touch.

Obama: I’m Barack Obama and I approve this message.

What kills me most, is that the McCain campaign surrogates are out calling Obama a liar....using those actual words...

Just remember McCain, Palin and your surrogates....
"When you point a finger at Obama, there are 3 fingers pointing at you."
McCain and the Keating 5, Telecom, Andrew McCain and the Silver Bank closing 1 month after he resigned from the Accounting board, Palin and Troopergate, Rape kits, Road to Nowhere, another Bridge to Nowhere, Witchcraft...etc....................

WE wont be swiftboated this year.......We are a smarter America!!!!

While our nation is in economy crisis McSame wants to turn the page on the "economy"? how stupid do these people think we are?

This is a great ads but I think Obama can make it even better by point out how McBush is trying to say that he's different than Bush but won't even try to run a different campaign.

What a headline! TRIES to focus? What about "maintains focus". It's not like no one wants to talk about the economy.

WELL WE HAVE SEEN WHAT THIE PARTY HAS DONE FOR US IN THE LAST EIGHT YEARS. AND MC CAIN HAS LOST WHAT EVER HONOR HE HAD. THEY ARE RELYING ON LIES AND DECIETE TO TRY AND WIN.

McCain has been a thorn in Bush's side since Bush came into office. Americans are not stupid enough to buy this ongoing attempt by the Obama camp to say 4 more years of the same. McCain is no Bush. Is this all Obama has to offer the American people? Dishonest name-calling and backwards thinking?

The economic problems America faces are a result of the Democrats in the do-nothing congress. If the Democrats had listened to McCain Fannie May and Freddy Mac would be doing just fine. Democrats often listen to McCain, look at the Kennedy-McCain Immigration Reform. Brilliant lawmaking shoved under the rug by partisan Democrats who were not willing to share the praise. Partisan Repubs in Washington hate McCain. Saying he is 4 more years of Bush? Get real.

Maybe Obama should focus on actually providing solutions instead of empty rhetoric. OBAMA HAS NOT SAID WHAT HE ACTUALLY INTENDS TO DO ABOUT ANYTHING. More committees and more government bureaucracy are the only things he has promised. That is not a SOLUTION.

A celebrity president who only knows two things: voting present and voting the way he is told? No thanks. That is change of the worst kind.

    Obama is a raving socialist.

Change? Yeah, he wants to change our country into a Marxist society.

You people who are living on his every word are fools. This guy has done nothing significant in his entire career. Your vote is being bought by clever marketing, for a man you know nothing about.

Obama will never be my leader. That scum.

Why does McCain/Palin think maverick is such a great thing? Iran, as a country, is maverick. They aren't going along w/ the rest of the world on the nuclear issue, but pursuing their own agenda. Iran doesn't listen to others - Is that what we can expect from McCain/Palin?

You know, if there was really something to these latest crazy attacks from McCain / Palin, why didn't they bring them to our attention months ago?

What next, ads whispering to us that Obama's father was from (shudder!) Africa??!!

Bat-242 – Obama has to put the nation's focus on the ecnonomy, he doens't have much else to run on does he. No experience, prior drug user, has friends who hate America, belittles the military, yep he would make a fine, typical democratic president

First of all Obama is keeping the focus on the economy because it is the number one issue to Americans in the polls. Also because it is obvious if you have a brain that the basis of the Republican economic plan is the reason why we are in the mess we are. By removing the regulations and oversight anywhere and everywhere they could they put the foxes in charge of the chickens. These policies do not work now and they did not work before. 3 presidents in history had the debt go up from when they took office to when they left office. All three Republicans. And before you say it has gone up for all of them you might be interested to hear the the last two Democratic Presidents saw a drop in the debt. Yup, Carter even had a decrease and of course Clinton had a dramatic turn around on the debt and a decrease. (Do you hear yourself?)

Experience: I will take the intelligent guy who has actually done reform and has an incredibly well thought out plan to fix our problems. I will take the guy with the experience to do things right the first time instead of react late or never at all (IRAQ) to his mistakes. I will take the guy who has been ringing the bell of economic crisis for years. You can stick with your experienced leader who thought one day the economy was wonderful and then a week later said we were on the brink of a great depression. (Do you hear yourself?)

Drug user: Are you sure you want to open that can of worms with the history of your beloved GWB or with Cindy's recent problems. The truth is you are not telling any secrets here. Obama came out with this story himself very early on and it was something from when he was a youth. Do you think that really matters at this point? (Do you hear yourself?)

Friends: So i am guessing even you have had friends over the years and like myself I am sure some of them turned out to not be what you thought they were. Some of them maybe changed over time. So what you are saying is if someone who was a friend of yours at some point......commits a crime later on......that makes you a criminal too? I have not told a lie or any crime other than speeding in 25 years. But, by that reasoning I guess since people i know have i am now a convicted criminal too or at least i PAL Around with them. (Do you hear yourself?)

Turn off Fox News for Gods sake!

How can anyone want more of the same?Haven't the leadership of the Republicans damaged the country enough. They blame the Dems for the mess when they have only a very slim edge in the Congress for less than two years and a President who vetos all their bills.Clinton on this worse years in the White House didn't do to us what Bush has done.If you want to have a beer with C average Palin and Mc Cain please feel free to vote for them.I choose brains over ignorance any day.

Of course Obama wants to focus on the economy after his poll numbers tanked.

    Bad Economy = Vote Democrat

That's why the Democrats in Congress and the Media have over hyped this financial crisis. I work in the financial services sector and it's NOT THAT BAD!

What a distraction to a real crisis, no wonder Senator Obama is leading. he is focusing on real concerns. My mind is now made up.
To see the McCain/Palin ticket not care of enough to find solutions–they would rather pretend it doesn't exsist.

Don't want to deal with it or no plan lets go on the ATTACK and change the subject--just as was seen in the VP Debate.

America is hurting and it is serious! I will also place my vote in the steady hand! Sorry Palin Thanks but NO THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do any of you think for yourselves or have you been too busy learning all of Obama's talking points. Take a long look at your candidate. Not to do so will be the end of democracy and socialism will reign over the USA.

    Vote Early

So many more Americans are going to vote look at the problems in the primaries–not enough ballots, not enough voting machines, long lines, not enough poll workers.

Check your state and where you can cast your vote=EARLY

Mccain and Palin are a joke. he knows he has no plan for the economy or Health plan palin is just plain irresponsible, no knowledge of anything and she has childeren she needs to attend to. She should pay more attention to her pregnant daughter and her newborn baby who has down syndrome. she drags them all over the place and I don't think that's a good idea. she is a heartbeat away from the presidency and she is clearly not ready. please america wake up mccain has shown poor judgement in choosing her. we all know why he did it was for political reasons only. clearly by her debate with biden shows that she could not answer any questions and she decides I am not going to answer that. If the vp was a man this would be a totally different ball game mccain is very angry and i can see it. he has shown erratic behavior and now wants to go negative and destroy obama's character why is not talking about the economy and his healthcare we know why he has none.
mccain and palin what a joke
