Obama accuses McCain of looking for distractions

Sen. Obama slammed Sen. McCain's health care plan at a campaign event in North Carolina Sunday.
Sen. Obama slammed Sen. McCain's health care plan at a campaign event in North Carolina Sunday.

(CNN) - Sen. Barack Obama on Sunday charged that Sen. John McCain's campaign is launching "Swift boat-style attacks" on him instead of addressing the country's problems.

Watch: Obama fights back

"Sen. McCain and his operatives are gambling that they can distract you with smears rather than talk to you about substance. They'd rather try to tear our campaign down than lift this country up," Obama said at an event in Asheville, North Carolina.

"That's what you do when you're out of touch, out of ideas, and running out of time," he said.

The comments come a day after Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, McCain's running mate, claimed that Obama associated "with terrorists who targeted our own country."

The McCain campaign shot back on Sunday, saying its accusations are "true facts," and not "smears."

"The last four weeks of this election will be about whether the American people are willing to turn our economy and national security over to Barack Obama, a man with little record, questionable judgment, and ties to radical figures like unrepentant domestic terrorist William Ayers," McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds said in a statement.

  1. ONCE AGAIN, WHAT IS COMING OUT OF THE GEEZER CAMP IS NOT A “BREATH OF FRESH AIR”, JUST MOOSE FLATULENCE

McCrypt already has one, her name is Paris Palin. An example follows:

Price for plane ticket to niece’s wedding - $372

Price for wedding gift certificate to Macy’s Bridal - $500

The joy of watching my 17 year old niece walk down the aisle in a black empire gown because she is 7 months pregnant, while followed by all 6 groomsmen forcibly carrying the soon to be loving husband to the alter to happily join in wedded bliss - PRICELESS!

This is what the RNC is known best for a smear campaign. Lies, deceptions and invoking fear. It worked in the past, so they figure why not try it again. But this a new day, the American people have spoken and said enough is enough! We are stronger and wiser. So let's get back to the economy, healthcare, and restoring our standing in the world. This is what matter the most, but if you want to play dirty then you better clean your closets.

Perhaps since Senator Obama is a novice at what usually takes place during a heated presidential race, he doesn't understand the nuances of competition at this time in said race. Perhaps where he's concerned, he calls it by another name, but to be sure, Senator Obama and his campaign is doing exactly the same thing to Senator McCain. For us lay people, better known as constituents, this is when it gets really exciting, and both candidates should understand that we are very adept at keeping score as to who has promised what, and will follow through on who is likely to deliver. May the best man win!

Can we afford to have the modern day Robin Hood, aka Barack HUSSEIN Obama, be our President? America wake up. If elected will the Rev Wright attend the White House prayer breakfast? How about Mr Ayers in charge of Homeland Security? How about Resco as Treasury Secretary? The list goes on and on.

Those attacks are not true facts- John McCain and Sarah Palin wouldn't know TRUTH if it SMACKED them in the face!!
I want to ask- I am sure there are people you work with in the same office- does that mean you agree politically or personally with every person you work with?? NO but that is the justification of this smear. Than b/c he and Ayers worked on a common committee together they must share principals and ideas? That is complete BS and Americans are not going to fall for the dirty Republican tactics anymore. If they were truly the better people for the position then they would debate on the issues- but because they cant they are going to spend the next 30 days throwing mud...and Americans have to show them that we will no longer be manipulated on November 4th- that is our only option!!!!!!!

No Way No How No McCain and Definitely No Palin! Incompetance is no longer an option!!

The McCain camp is truly running out of ideas, it would appear. Don't listen to me, do your own fact check about Obama and this "terrorist" he has "ties" to. With such "strong" ties as this, I guess we can say McCain has ties to the communists in Vietnam!

    Sad!

Since the McCain campaign is so busy digging up dirt and distractions why not mention John McCain's unethical past. In 1979 – while still married to Carol – he met Cindy at a cocktail party in Hawaii. Over the next six months he pursued her, flying around the country to see her. Then he began to push to end his marriage. He did this because is wife was disfigured in a car accident and Cindy was so much better looking. He is a CHEATER that has not changed. Why else would he pick an ex-beauty contestant for a running mate!

I find it interesting that CNN chooses to close out comments for artilcles relating to Sarah Palin's "paling around with terrorists" statement. CNN post their own article saying her statement is not true and closes any discussion. What they neglect to tell people is this...Michelle Obama worked at the Sidley Austin law firm in Chicago with Bernardine Dohrn, the wife of terrorist Bill Ayres.

Also, Willaim Ayres, the terrorist, chose Barack Obama to be the first Chairman of the Board on the Woods Fund.

Obama worked directly for Ayres for eight years. These two were more than just a casual relationship.

So from 1980 when Obama met up with the Ayers family right up to 2002 when they served together on the Woods Fund board of directors.

And it was in 1995 at a meeting in the home of the terrorist Bill Ayres and his wife Dohrn, Barack Obama was first inducted into Chicago's "progressive" politics and launched his political career.

"True Facts!" You Wish! Every so called true fact they're put out there so far has been proven to be false! Gimme a Break! The True Fact about the McCain Campaign is they don't have any Truth, or a Course or a Plan for American's Future. They're wandering around in the Desert like lost nomads trying to find water to quench their thirst for Revenge! Drill Baby Drill!

Hey Obama, if the shoe fits then you have to wear it. Sure you were only 8 when Ayers did his nasty deeds but who in their right mind would go to this guys house and have coffee with him. You were old enough to know better then but still did it. There had to be something in it for you. You are a hypocrite and still have a lot of other questionable relationships. This is something the American people deserve to know that says a lot about your lack of judgment.

I am so sick of Tucker Bonds that I could puke. I am tired of the hypocritical rhetoric that accuses the Obama campaign of the things they are doing themselves. I am tired of being told that my choice for President is a dangerous choice with ties to terrorists. I am tired of being ridiculed and condescended to. I will never support McCain as president, even if elected. I will follow the laws of the land, but will not respect the man who has made a travesty of this campaign.

The republican party is also becoming increasingly racist and divisive. America's reputation around the world is very low. Electing a party with such racist views will put the world off for ever against America. We on the other side of the pond can see clearly who has better judgement, character and honesty. Mc Cain cannot develop policy. All he does is to manufacture more smears and leaves his wind-up doll to spread more lies.

McCain is losing in everything he has done so far, now he wants to shift his campaign to smear the best hope America has left. What a sore loser, he is. I can't understand how he thinks that the country should be handed to him, especially after he picks that loser of a running mate to join his ticket. Does he really think that we would vote for his out of touch, old, W. Bush backing, presidency? When a heart beat away, we would have this dumb, know nothing, can't answer the question, running mate as a president? I am sorry to say, but I am taking my chances with Barack. Barack gives you that feeling of trust. He genuinely cares about America and what we represent. He will restore our respect across the globe. America has been snakes, theives, and other things the rest of the world has described us to be. Now, its time to restore those moral values in what we have always represented. America is home of the brave and land of the free. Everyone in the world will, again, envy of not being an American. I am excited about what will happen when Obama is president. I am excited to say President Obama.

He will have a huge mess to clean up behind the corruption that has plagued our country. But if no other person can take on this challenge, it is Obama/Biden. Obama will clean up our country and restore its trust and values. Biden will take care of our foreign affairs and restore our trust and values with the rest of the world.

That is the ticket that will bring success. Ignore the swift-boat tactics that John McCain and his lousy campaign is trying to paint. They are all lies. Check out factcheck.org and they will say that everything McCain/Palin has been about is lies. They are liars. Why vote for liars?

This election will prosper and I encourage everyone to be registered so you can vote Obama/Biden '08. Our opportunity for change, change meaning improving, in America.
