Obama accuses McCain of looking for distractions

Sen. Obama slammed Sen. McCain's health care plan at a campaign event in North Carolina Sunday.
Sen. Obama slammed Sen. McCain's health care plan at a campaign event in North Carolina Sunday.

(CNN) - Sen. Barack Obama on Sunday charged that Sen. John McCain's campaign is launching "Swift boat-style attacks" on him instead of addressing the country's problems.

Watch: Obama fights back

"Sen. McCain and his operatives are gambling that they can distract you with smears rather than talk to you about substance. They'd rather try to tear our campaign down than lift this country up," Obama said at an event in Asheville, North Carolina.

"That's what you do when you're out of touch, out of ideas, and running out of time," he said.

The comments come a day after Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, McCain's running mate, claimed that Obama associated "with terrorists who targeted our own country."

The McCain campaign shot back on Sunday, saying its accusations are "true facts," and not "smears."

"The last four weeks of this election will be about whether the American people are willing to turn our economy and national security over to Barack Obama, a man with little record, questionable judgment, and ties to radical figures like unrepentant domestic terrorist William Ayers," McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds said in a statement.

Does Senator McCain have anything relevent to say? He still hasn't proved to me that he and Palin has any ideas for this country. All they want is power.

this is pure desperation from McCain and he is beginning to show his true colors. 1st were the gimmicks Palin, suspending his campaign that wasn't suspended any thing to keep the conversation away from the real problems that need real leadership. It's quite pathetic that a once honerable man cannot have a real thoughtful conversation with the nation. I suggest everyone check the Rollingstone 'Maverick' article it's quite an eye opener.

summerlover is right on. Wish i could have thought of that first.

the next time anyone hears that Obama was only 8 years old when Ayers was committing his terrorist acts, please point out that he was 34 years old when he was in Ayers living room!

And he was 44 listening to Reverend Wright. What a sleeze ball

It is a very sad day that Americans running for public office like John McCain and Palin have to act in this manner. Am a retired US Army, Airborn Soldier of tewnty-three years of service and a war vet. And I will not vote for someone like McCain & Palin because of how they are acting. Its just sad !!!!!! I think the two of them would hurt this great nation than help fix it because of there track record of telling truth.

CNN is clearly still pissed off about being snubbed by McCain after Cambell Brwon started a witch hunt for Palin following her selection for the GOP VP spot. CNN's converage now meets or exceeds the biased coverage one sees on NBC or MSNBC. . .Toobin and Bagala are CNN's version of MSNBC's Oberman and Matthews. Meanwhile Wolf just wants to hear himself talk and Cooper's obvous disdain for reporting on anything less than a hurricane is apparent.

CNN used to be my favorite news station.

McCain is a senile, desperate old fart and Palin is hanging on to his coat tails. These two individuals are absolutely PATHETIC.

Regardless, Republicans will NOT be in the White House come this January.

    To Aware:

Do we always have to do your research for you? The policies for the last 8 years have been Republican's, not Dems.

Get used to saying President Obama!

Of course CNN won't post this, because I'm not kissing Obama's behind. But, now that we are beginning to see the light on what happened with the Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac debacle, and how it appears senior Democrat’s pockets were being lined by these major financial institutions, will the liberal media address this issue. Or will they sweep it under the rug as with any negative Democratic issues. How IRONIC that it was the Bush Administration that made SEVERAL attempts starting I before 9/11 to warn Congress of the impending threat of these “no regulation mortgages”. And, how IRONIC it was the Republicans that tried to push Regulatory Legislation through to STOP these financial institutions from this Tran Wreck , THREE TIMES! And EVERYTIME the Democrats shot it down! Several videos available of Barney Frank and Chris Dodd rejecting any consideration of these banking regulations that may have stopped or curtailed the disaster we now face.
So, what c CIRCUS it was to see Pelosi, parade Barney Frank and Harry Reid weepingly praising Chris Dodd for their roles in the “bailout debacle”. WOW!! Stand by Webster’s, the definition of Hypocrisy has been redefined! Unfortunately, with the Democrats in the house and the left wing media in power, these Crooks like Frank and Dodd have nothing to worry about. Their scams will be swept under the rug.

So, in the next few days I am promoting this and other related info on my blog, Facebook and Myspace page. Then no need to be concerned about CNN’s censure and anti-Obama comments policy.

Fact Check has twice the corrections on McCainPalin lies than those for Obama.

McCain then distorted what Fact Check said, and when called on it, McCain said that the truth didn't matter.

Fear and smear: McCain doesn't understand the economy, stated he wants to deregulate health care, just like he did the banks, does not support veterans or their issues, had a flaming affair as a married man and was not even at home often enough to notice his wife has a severe drug addiction.

I will not vote for someone who lies to me: Palin started her lies in her first speech – lied about bridges and earmarks ... and still does!

    Summerlover-

That's fine. We'll just point out here that McCain was 58 years old when he accepted 112,000 in political contributions from Charles Keating who was convicted, and that McCain was addressed by the Senate Ethics Committee of having "poor judgement". McCain was trying to gain favors for his friend Keating we all know it. Not to mention the poor moral judgment he showed after he left his wife, among other things. I'm sure Americans will feel better that we could be putting a man in office who tried to manipulate regulators.

And when the RNC is done lying, hoodwinking, bamboozling, fearmongering and throwing the kitchen sink (with the pots and pans), they'll claim to have found some type of contribution error in the internet donations, and the Obama campaign will be under investigation going into his presidency. Then the RNC will continue to instigate, and investigate, and insinuate, and adjudicate, and playahate for the next 8 years. I don't know about you, but I am sick and tired of being sick and tired of the Karl Rove style politics. McCain/Palin's got to go.

McCain is the blindest doofus ever. He's a senile old freak. And I hope Obama will kick his a$$ in around a month.
McCain has NOTHING to offer, but an out-of-touch hoe called Sarah Failin... she's a know-nothing, like he is!

Come on, this country is smarter than this dumb campaign. He can try what he wants to, but whether Clinton got it successfull, nor will McCain. Obama has the ideas, the clue, of what needs to be done. McCain has just Obama and his own "maverick"-story. He's that old man, at the end of his life, always telling the bla-bla-stories over and over again... come on. I can't see why ANYBODY whose IQ is above the temperature in the room he/she is in, should vote that clown our President???
If you still need one, not to do...well let me mention: KEATING FIVE!

    Obama/Biden by landslide

The "Repuppetcan Party" is the greatest ventriloquist act ever. I really think the transparency of McCain and Palin should be enough to convince common sensible types that it's all an act, however I don't have that much confidence in "Joe Sixpack" having the intelligence to figure it out.

Telling the truth sure is a distraction for Obama and the democrats. To the people who says he was 8 years old when Ayers did all that stuff. Obama was not eight years old in 1995 when He ussed Ayers to launch his political career at Ayers home. He was not eight years old when he tied up with Ayers and stole millions of dollars that cannot be accounted for while he was a state senator. He was not eight years old when he got that sweet heart deal from Resko the convicted felon who donated money and was a fund raiser for him and got his home property. You people are peeing in the wind and are hoping some stupid person is standing down wind.

Once again.. even after this was fact-checked and found to be an outright lie... Tucker Bounds is right there spewing his garbage. I said it in a previous post, and I'll say it again. I wouldn't hire Tucker to sweep my floor. The man has no integrity.. and therefore found the perfect campaign to work for.

And I love the post above saying that now the RNC is going to try to comb through all of Obama's contributions. I think the DNC should comb through all of McCain's contributions simultaneously... since McCain has already been caught taking contributions from the very same source as he's accusing Obama of taking contributions from.
