Obama accuses McCain of looking for distractions

Sen. Obama slammed Sen. McCain's health care plan at a campaign event in North Carolina Sunday.
Sen. Obama slammed Sen. McCain's health care plan at a campaign event in North Carolina Sunday.

(CNN) - Sen. Barack Obama on Sunday charged that Sen. John McCain's campaign is launching "Swift boat-style attacks" on him instead of addressing the country's problems.

Watch: Obama fights back

"Sen. McCain and his operatives are gambling that they can distract you with smears rather than talk to you about substance. They'd rather try to tear our campaign down than lift this country up," Obama said at an event in Asheville, North Carolina.

"That's what you do when you're out of touch, out of ideas, and running out of time," he said.

The comments come a day after Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, McCain's running mate, claimed that Obama associated "with terrorists who targeted our own country."

The McCain campaign shot back on Sunday, saying its accusations are "true facts," and not "smears."

"The last four weeks of this election will be about whether the American people are willing to turn our economy and national security over to Barack Obama, a man with little record, questionable judgment, and ties to radical figures like unrepentant domestic terrorist William Ayers," McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds said in a statement.

Tucker Bounds is the same person who couldn't even defend Sarah Palin's foreign policy experience, because she doesn't have any. The facts are that Barack Obama does NOT have ties to William Ayers, and they have never been close. This is going to be used to distract people from the serious crisis we are facing. It's nothing but desperate.

If McCain wants to reach back into the past for issues related to 'character,' why don't we start with his starring role in the "Keating Five." And how he ended up a POW by being a 'maverick' and ignoring his military training. And oh yeah, how he was still married with children when he met wife #2 with the trust fund to bankroll his political career. I would think past issues of 'character' are a pandora's box he would not want to open. McCAIN IS UNSTABLE.

Whatever happened to McCains promise to "hold a respectable campaign?"
    also..
To Gov Palin..... Remember the Commandments dealing with lies, bearing false witness and honoring thy neighbor. You seem to have forgotten them.

McCAIN'S WORDS, " I RATHER LOOSE AN ELECTION, THAN LOOSE A WAR". LOOKS LIKE THE OLD MAN WOULD RATHER LOOSE HIS SELF RESPECT AND DIGNITY, RATHER THAN LOOSE THE ELECTION.

  7. NEVER OBAMA

Obama is such a liar. Of course no one is suppose to ask this lying rat anything. Look what he did to the Clinton's when they tried.

America don't be stupid. The liberal media has guided you right to their candidate. They won't tell you the truth.

You allow this liar in office and we'll never be able to get rid of him. He'll steal the election for his wife after 8 years. Don't you think it odd that obama will and does say everything you want to hear.He has people troll the blogs and when he picks up threads of thought he'll start talking about it. The American people think wow.......he's so in touch.
If you vote for this liar there will come a time when you realize the biggest mistake of your life and why you lost your country and life the way we know it.

Obama you are afraid of the truth coming out again,,, you can't run from your past, you will have to suffer the consequences of your poor choices. If all this stuff about you came out sooner, YOU would not be the Dem nominee, Hillary would. So if I were you, I would stop accusing the GOP of what they have every right to do. You were not properly vetted (sadly, you know it too). You are not the man, you are saying that you are. You say that you are a Christian too? How is that working for you?

I used to have respect for John McCain. I even thought of voting for him if my Democratic candidate did not get the nomination. Now, I loathe him. He is running a decietful, lying, nasty campagne in order to be the President of the United States. His Vice President selection, Sara Palin is far from being qualified to run this country and he is allowing her to spread false rumours. He chose her to rally the base because they don't like him. He will do anyhthing to be President.

His main goal is not to help the American people, but to be President. Do people not have a brain in their head to see this. Independents and Republicans who still have not decided, can't you see the writing on the wall. Do you want four more years of Bush. If So go ahead and vote for McCain. I will be voting OBAMA/BIDEN.

There is no way that McCain put country first, by choosing Palin as his running mate, anything but the issues. Speaking of terriost, Ben-liden, Saddam Hussien, and others were paling around with Ronald, (Iran Contra) Reagen, Bush and Bush, and now McCain has chosen Palin from the United Republic of Alaska.

Obama idiot keeps on blaming Bush for the US economy. But the economy mess is everywhere even in Europe. Read CNN article on Europe response. Barack is an idot who deos not know anything about economy.
Economy is bad because of the greed of big corporations and people who want to billionaire overnight. People like Buffett who is investing his money at 15 % and getting shares at rock bottom prices. The money has not simply disappeared it has been stacked away by corporation who run the world not governments. Governments are mere shadows as is Obama who is nothing else but t projection of News Corporations.
If Obama wins America is doomed. Where all the money will come from? It is gonna be communism all the way with China and Russia calling the shots in weakend USA and the Western World.

If Obama is not guilty of anything, then he has nothing to worry about.
    Seems he is worried Huh.

Vote for the best person, that you think .
'Not color, or party etc etc.
It seems if Obama was a stature, he will still get votes.
it should not be about race, and I see that. IT seems people want to vote to make this historical, that american african gets in(meanwhile he is not).
    know what I mean?
Vote for who would be the best person for this job.

Also Obama quit the church ONLY because he was forced too.
    This church HATES white people.

of course he is , he's is losing every day. The more Sarah and he keep opening their mouths they have to pull their feet out. They can't win on issues , they can't answer a question –who they hell is waiting for them anyway . with them we'll have more war . more debt and officially become a third world country . The GOP is the death of America. Lincoln must be rolling over in his grade .

McCain's plan is to turn the page on the financial crisis and try to claim Obama is a terrorist. This is the kind of politics that Americans are SICK OF! Give us a president who will talk about the issues. Didn't McCain say at the beginning he was going to run a clean campaign? What A Joke!

Obama is correct about McCain being out of touch. With McCain's erratic
behavior I don't know how anyone could think he is in touch. Keeping Palin is just befuddled logic.
I am now wondering with all Palin's many, many references to Joe Sixpack if she is quite a drinker, herself. That would explain her inability to vocalize a coherent sentence when not reciting something written down for her.

It's funny that the only thing McCain camp can find to talk about are distractions. We are in two Wars, health care is pathetic and our economy is in the toilet and this is the best you can do McCain??? Do you think the American Voters are that stupid?
