Obama campaign rejects Palin 'terrorist' gibe

Gov. Palin said Saturday that Sen. Obama sees America as 'imperfect.'
Gov. Palin said Saturday that Sen. Obama sees America as 'imperfect.'

(CNN) - Barack Obama's campaign has quickly rejected Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's claim that he associated "with terrorists who targeted our own country."

Palin attacked Sen. Obama on Saturday for his brief political relationship with Bill Ayers, a founding member of the radical Weather Underground, which was involved in several bombings in the early 1970s, including attacks on the Pentagon and the Capitol. Obama was a child at the time of the bombings.

Obama and Ayers, now a university professor, have met several times since 1995, when both orked with a non-profit group trying to raise funds for a school improvement project and a haritable foundation. CNN's review of project records found nothing to suggest anything nappropriate in the volunteer projects in which the two men were involved.

A CNN Fact Check found Palin's charge to be false.

This ignorant woman seems to be bit by a mad dog. I have been to Europe recently and I hear people saying how much they miss the American leadership which valued diversity, freedom, human rights etc.. They say that American leadership is feeding this BS to it's own people that other countries on this planet doesn't exist or everybody is ganged up against America. Look at how many countries we have included in the axis-of-evil list. The list is only growing. Russia, China, Iran, Iraq, Syria, N. Korea etc....

Internally, the economy is gone. People are having a real tough time holding onto their jobs. Families are having tough time putting food on the table. Gas and grocery prices are hitting the roof. Severe credit crunch. Small businesses are closing down fast. Unemployment is reaching high levels. Health care system is broken. Education system is broken. Infrastructure is broken. Society was polarized like never before. Life long investments gone. Now we have a 11.7 trillion debt. Two broken wars with no end in sight. Military is streched to the breaking point. Veterans were neglected. Constitution was trampled. People were tortured. Citizens spied on. Justice department was totally politicised. Wall street is gone.

Republicans created all this mess and Palin's idea to fix the problem is talk about what Obama did or didn't when he was 8 yr. old?

The Republicans continue to use fear to win elections. It is not going to work this time! Palin is Bush with a dress on and a little less smart.

No to the right wing mafia.

Why not allow candidates to sue for slander, when their are out and out lies.

Obama was 8 years old when the hockey mom atempts to smear him.

I feel sorry for McCain, she is pulling him down, however he does a good job of that on his own.

I've been offended by Mrs. Palin before, but now I'm down right livid. Sarah should be ashamed of herself. Saying that Obama is friendly with terrorist is not only irresponsible, but an outright lie. Is this really the type of person you want in office?

    Dear CNN,

It's called "spell check". Did the little red squiggly line under "orked" and "haritable" not make you think something was wrong?

And next time, could you possibly find a less flattering picture of the candidate to go with the post?

    Thanks.

It does not surprise me one iota that Sarah Palin said this about Obama.I watch the news from many media outlets, and I would say that with many of your newsreaders hosting Al Jazeera(the home of antisemitism) these days and also the BBC tied in with Al Jazeera, your bias is unbelievable as is the BBC.It seems to me that you are without doubt pushing the Obama ticket and not one good word for Mr MaCain or Mrs Palin. Me thinks your just a bunch of old LEFTY COMMIES at CNN and it makes a honest change for American viewers to be able to watch and hear truth for a change when they tune in to FOX news.So why wouldn,t Sarah say these things about Obama ! Its only what many people think including myself.Obama,s links to you is enough, never mind his old friends.

With none of her children pursuing an education, or anything worthy you would expect with a parent in such a prominent position, she has only proved to be a miserable failure in leading her own family.

It would be an outrage to have such an uneducated, white trashy individual in any public position affecting the US and the world future.

It is a question of judgement. He sat on boards with Ayers and has alot of his political views,"america is not what it was". He also stayed with Wright for twenty years. People we do not have twenty years for

Hey all of you in the tank for McCain/Palin, chew on this for a minute....google Charles Keating and see if you think McCain is mr. innocent. Check out Palin getting what amounts to an exorcism at her Church just last summer. She's a witch, he's a cheat. That is what you will NEVER hear from Obama/Biden, they are way too polite.

I wonder how Sarah Palin squares her: 'christain values' when she goes about in public telling blatant lies ie Obama palling around with terrorists. I too read the New York Times article which clearly stated that the Ayres was on the fringes of Obama;s life and ties were very remote. How many of us have crossed distant paths with unsavourly characters. I am a catholic and really take offense at Palin's remarks and I hope the American public are smart enough to see through this desperate attempt to change trhe subject. I am also ashamed at how far John McCain has stooped by endorsing this attack. both of them are disgusting hypocrites!!!

Thank you Sarah !!! After 45 years of having to listen to a republican mother-in-law, she called last night and said she's not going to listen to any more lies from her party. Just in time, too. She's switching to DEM tomorrow – the last day to "register" (although she's only officially switching parties)!!

    Thank you Sarah!!!!
