Does anyone even care what Bush says or does anymore? No one likes this guy and we all want him to just go away.

Some day he may rank among the greatest of US presidents. Certainly one of the most controversial. He has had to deal with an attack on US soil, like Roosevelt. He has had to deal with natural disasters on unprecedented scale. He has had to preside over a financial crisis not seen since the 1929 crash. I think history will treat him a lot more kindly than his contemporaries.

I feel sorry for Palin. I watched the VP debate and she could not answer a single question appropriately that relates to the question that was being asked. "Joe six pack" to me that's an insult. Sounds like she was talking to drunk people in general. Maybe I misunderstood what she meant by that. Maybe someone could explain that to me because I'm not into "slang words". Palin said she is a journalist but she is not articulate enough compare to other journalist that I watch. Now she's attacking her opponents and so be it. I am independent voter and a woman but because she's a woman, and a governor and a mother it doesn't mean that she is qualified to be the VP. McCain is old and is not in the best of health. That scares me! Journalist and the OBAMA camp should not ve soft on PALIN because she's a woman after all she started the NASTY ATTACKED.

The bailout plan will take a long time to work, if it works at all. Since we have never been in this situation, theory is all we have to work with. It's possible that this bailout won't work at all or may have a negative effect. Much more thought and analysis should have gone into this plan before the House and the Senate approved it. It's like they went to the grocery store when they were hungry.

What a mess. I wish I could tell you about the numerous folks I know who are amazed that I had predicted this exact scenario back in 2004.

Folks, the selling prices of homes over the past several years are way over their actual value, by as much as 70% by my estimation. The final mortgage prices were not determined by value, but rather by how much lenders were willing to lend. Lenders then had an object that could be traded very much like stock.

Also, the GOP has painted the picture that most of the bad loans were to people who could not afford them. The truth is that most of the loans were to people who already had homes and were borrowing against the equity in their homes, not low-income, frist-time buyers.

It took us the last 8 years of republicans and deregulation to get in this mess plus destroy the surplus that Bill Clinton had, along with his balanced budget. For the time it takes every bad decision that is made, it will take twice as long to fix. Be prepared America this isn't going away any time soon. It will probably get worse before we see a turn around. If McCain and Palin are elected you are pretty much guaranteed another depression as confidence will dwindle away to Palin's brain size. ZIP!!

The trouble with the bailout plan is that it rests on the same "trickle-down" theory that has failed so consistently in the management of the overall economy. In short, the bailout has no ibvious features that would require its beneficiaries to use the bailout money as it is intended, i.e., to add liquidity to the credit market.

If the bailout doesn't work, we will have proven that banks aren't lending because they just don't want to, not because they can't. If that happens, it may become necessary to rescind the bailout.

I was at a wedding in Fulton, MO over the weekend (East of Columbia-blue and West of St. Louis-blue), a relatively red town. I saw 3-1 Obama signs. I'm telling you, I have hope for my state! I live in midtown and we are so Obama, it sometimes feels a little insulated; but I picked up friends in Independence and Blue Springs which are suburbs that are normally BRIGHT RED – again, 2-1 Obama in Independence and 3-1 Obama in Blue Springs. I realize the yard sign 'polling' is probably not a terribly effective method; but these are 'typically' not even questionable.
