A new poll shows Obama ahead in New Mexico.
A new poll shows Obama ahead in New Mexico.

(CNN) - A new poll out Monday shows Barack Obama holding a slight advantage over John McCain in New Mexico, one of the most closely-fought presidential battlegrounds in the last two election cycles.

According to the new survey from the Albuquerque Journal, Obama holds a 5-point lead over the Arizona senator there, 45 percent to 40 percent, with 15 percent still undecided. The poll carries a margin of error of plus or minus 3.8 percentage points.

The state narrowly voted for Al Gore in 2000, and for George Bush in 2004. CNN’ Electoral Map considers New Mexico to be "leaning Obama” this year.

To help you with your investigation of donations, I'm sending him more as we speak. Is this another McCain's weak tactic? He is really pitiful! With his wife's millions, who knows where all of his donations came from? I'm sure they are are not legit. Nothing McSame has ever done is legit. Investigate his infidelity to his first wife and this man is considered to be a man of morals? Please, CNN! Be real with the people! They deserve better!

I'm a conservative Republican, and I'm here to set the record straight. I work in the brokerage business, and I have a lot of friends and clients I talk to every day. They are Republicans like me, and none of us are voting for McCain. We don't know anyone who is...After McCain slammed us over Wall St, calling us greedy? No way. I can't vote for Obama, but I can't vote for McCain after what he did to us. Nobody I know is supporting McCain anymore. And another thing...Palin is a complete idiot, and even the most die-hard Republican knows that. So enjoy it Dems...we'll be back in 4 years (and we'll bring a real candidate with us next time).

I'll be so glad when this whole mess is over. Obama did his best to stay on the high road but obviously McCain and his pit bull can't restrain themselves from dragging the election into the mud. America and New Mexico don't need more negative ads and it won't change the minds of thinking Americans. We unfortunately learned that the hard way from W's Rove politics. It's time we moved back to the high road but McCain and his pit bull won't allow it. America – don't GET DERAILED!!!

remember when CNN used to report either candidate holding a "slight advantage" as 44-42 or 41-44. this story starts with the line "A new poll out Monday shows Barack Obama holding a slight advantage over John McCain in New Mexico, "....and obama's up by FIVE. lets hope obama's slight lead continues to grow.

McCain's misguided attacks on Sen. Obama will only increase his edge in the polls. McCain would be betters served by focusing on the economy. Smear his opponent only preaches to the choir and turns away Independent voters like myself.

  13. America demands answers

Every Repub bloggers are now saying Obama is not change cos he responded the for the first time past sling mud to McCain..wow didnt everyone blame Kerry for not fighting back at same mud sling swift boat WB did back then? This is double standard..McCain promised a honorable campaign...Palin promised in the debate not to look back to the past...did anyone tell palin Ayers was in the past or she is just being thought it was new? Or did anyone tell McCain the campaign is far away from being honorable?
As for Barrack i would advice pls stick to the issues and dont follow a pig into the mud...Talk to Americans like you have always done.
    Thanks

If you enjoy the thrills and chills of riding with a hotshot pilot, vote for McCain. According to vietnamveteransagainst johnmccain he crashed into Corpus Christi Bay while practicing landings and crashed into some power lines when he was stationed in the Mediterranean. We all know about his crash in combat in North Vietnam and his heroic resistance as
a prisoner of war, but that does not show he would provide steady leadership on the ship of state. His zig-zag performance over the last two week of economic crisis shows he is still the old McCain. His experience is no better than Rumsfeld's. Obama is the steady one.

While our economy is in trouble, McCain-Palin would rather focus on character propaganda.

Obama-Biden are focusing on solutions to the issues.

    Yes we can!

It is becomeing clear that McCain and Palin were selected to be the scapegoats for the REPUBLICAN PARTY. Noyte how fast the other cadidates pulled out and left McCain holding the BAG. No right thinking Republican man or woman wanted to be his running mate so they got the one that was not dirght enough to see where this train was heading. Now McCain will end his carrier and Palin will fall on the sword with him.

But that is how the Repubicans like it. Save the good guys for a better chance.

We don't need a president like John Mcain who doesnt understand the Economy. We dont need a president who rather distract Americans with nonsensical issues like Lipstick and sorts......Being an independent...I am voting Barack Obama because he understand the issues we r facing.
