Palin: 'I was just trying to keep Tina Fey in business'

Gov. Palin said she was trying to provide 'job security to SNL writers.'

(CNN) - Sarah Palin said Monday her recent underwhelming interview performances were intended to provide “job security to SNL writers,” as she continued to escalate the pace of attacks on Barack Obama’s character.

Watch: How SNL combines politics and humor

“I was just trying to keep Tina Fey in business,” joked the Alaska governor.

At a Florida campaign event, Palin brought up one of her less-successful media moments - her failure to respond to a question from CBS’s Katie Couric about her regular sources of news — as a segue into an attack on Obama. “There’s been a lot of interest in what I read lately,” she told the crowd.

Watch: Tina Fey impersonates Palin

“Well, I was reading my copy of The New York Times the other day, and I was really interested to read about Barack’s friends from Chicago. Turns out, one of his earliest supporters is a man named Bill Ayers. And according to The New York Times, he was a domestic terrorist and part of a group that, quote, ‘launched a campaign of bombings that would target the Pentagon and the U.S. Capitol,’” Pain said.

She added later that Obama is “someone who sees America as ‘imperfect enough’ to work with a former domestic terrorist who targeted his own country.”

And this just shows how idiotic Palin is.

Look at how much of a maverick McCain/Palin are. They'd go totally outside of what is acceptable to win. Sorta like that country we don't like (Iran). Iran is also a maverick, they don't care what the rest of the world thinks and will do anything they feel like. Is that what we can expect from McCain/Palin?

That's about the same as saying "Oh, I was speeding so I could give the cops something to do!"

I don't want a reckless, clueless woman that close to the white house.

You don't have to work very hard at that, Palin! You're one big joke and America knows it!

Candidates used to select their VP from a pool of qualified candidates FIRST, then select the one that benefitted them the most politically.

McCain skipped the first part and went straight for the politics. Her selection was one of the most cynical political moves in American history.

Obama/Biden '08: Real change. Real leadership. Ready on day one. Yes we can!

she's an idiot and hardly sounds bonafide attacking Obama when she has an investigation out on her as we speak. mccain has mis-managed everything in the last couple of months starting with picking palin to get the votes of dis-affected Hillary voters like myself. The Dow dropped below 10,000 today and this is what she wants to talk about... I'm sorry there are things that I might dislike about Obama but I think he's trying to put America where it should be instead of winning an election.

Challenge to both campaigns: It was supposed to be a campaign about substance. Bring out your best substance for the last thirty days, and check the dumb Rove-trash at the door.

  9. OBAMA 4 President

Why does she get any press time, with her cutting comments and put downs. She can't even answer simple questions, oh sorry, she can only when it is asked by another right wing lunatic like HANNITY. They are trying to split the country apart just so they can win, so much for love of country.

Go home Sarah and have a nice chat with your children about the birds and the bees, wrong and right, and be a mother!

    Fact Check:
Palin/McCain have not told the truth this entire campaign.

    Fact Check:
Tina Fey is a better VP candidate then Palin

    Fact Check:
McCain committed treason as a POW. Who needs Terrorists when you Benedict Arnolds like John McCain

    Fact Check:
Obama/Biden '08 because we need TRUE heroes not filthy Zeroes!

Like Ayres in the 60's, Nelson Mandela was involved with terrorist activities in his country of birth, nearly 50 years ago, and in 1993 was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. The world over admired this great man and would have given anything to pal up with him.

Well I guess Sarah you are all good since you husband was part of Alaskas's seperation from America. Yeah that would include the Mayor/Gov of Alalska to be in agreement. Well he is your husband and I am sure you follow each others advice, as noted by why is so involved with the fireing of a State employee that he has no business being a part of, but yet he is. Worry about your own issues TROOPERGATE, I DONT WANT TO GET INVOLVE PALIN FOR TE AMERICAN PEOPLE. PS. Americans not like you don't shout racial issues.

You know the sad thing is that Sarah Palin is probably a very nice person, who is just in waaaay over her head. I find it amazing that NOW she just happens to be reading the New York Times.

Sarah, don't let these people turn you into a liar as well as a phony. Get out now!

Wasn't the whole Ayers thing debunked in the exact same NYT article? It's obvious she's just trying to take advantage of poor folks who don't have the resources to fact check. Which is kinda evil.

Rick, if you want fair and unbiased reporting, we all know that the only source for that is FOX news. Pa... lease, man, get a life and start to think for yourself. Seriously..... if the people who can't think for themselves would actually listen to, read, and watch fair and unbiased reporting, we might actually have a chance for the people to get a decent president instead of the likes of George Bush!

She is a total joke to this campaign. Who is she to comment on anything Obama does when she can't even write a speech or talk to the media because they will ask hard questions. This is ridiculous for anyone to imply that Obama has ties with Terrorist. Is it because his name is Barack Obama? Come on people. The Republican are getting desperate.

Sarah – the good ole' girl from Alaska – that doesn't play in the lower 48.

She's getting nasty – I can see she and McCain winning and then waking up the next day with "Now What Do We Do?"

They are so busy bashing Obama – it could back fire on them.

She reads the NY Times? Her copy of the NY Times? She could not give the name of one publication to Katie. Sorry, Palin, we just don't buy it. Someone must have handed her the NY Times with stories circled in RED for her to read. She is UNFIT to lead this nation out of anything. As for Ayers, Palin is distorting the truth, lies and more lies come out of her mouth. She claims to be a Christian, yet she (and her husband) have forgotten the Ten Commandments.

Who in the world does she think she is fooling??
This hocky mom is so unable, unqualified, unprepared
for the second highest position in our country it is
criminal. And, for Mccain to pick her shows his lack
    of qualifications, judgement.
These two have made us the laughting stock of the

Disgusting – she's a creep. She and disgraced criminal Ted Stevens are much closer friends and political allies than Obama and some guy who lives down the block. Is this the best these Bush imitators can do? Gotta blame McCain's poor judgement for Palin, not her own stupidity...
