Palin: 'I was just trying to keep Tina Fey in business'

Gov. Palin said she was trying to provide 'job security to SNL writers.'

(CNN) - Sarah Palin said Monday her recent underwhelming interview performances were intended to provide “job security to SNL writers,” as she continued to escalate the pace of attacks on Barack Obama’s character.

Watch: How SNL combines politics and humor

“I was just trying to keep Tina Fey in business,” joked the Alaska governor.

At a Florida campaign event, Palin brought up one of her less-successful media moments - her failure to respond to a question from CBS’s Katie Couric about her regular sources of news — as a segue into an attack on Obama. “There’s been a lot of interest in what I read lately,” she told the crowd.

Watch: Tina Fey impersonates Palin

“Well, I was reading my copy of The New York Times the other day, and I was really interested to read about Barack’s friends from Chicago. Turns out, one of his earliest supporters is a man named Bill Ayers. And according to The New York Times, he was a domestic terrorist and part of a group that, quote, ‘launched a campaign of bombings that would target the Pentagon and the U.S. Capitol,’” Pain said.

She added later that Obama is “someone who sees America as ‘imperfect enough’ to work with a former domestic terrorist who targeted his own country.”

Someone who is under investigation for abuse of power should be careful what kind of stones she throws.

i'm tired of hearing the comments about the trooper because if you check he is still has his job. So its stupid that people keep bringing this up because if she wanted him fired then he would have been. And the keeting 5 come on it was found that he did absoultly nothing wrong on that then he came out and made new legislation on campaign finance reform

It is easy to mock another person who is on the front line of business for America. Mockery is part of the liberal imagery = Obama's kind of people.

You know it's a sad nation when muslim extremists support one of our elected officials and still fool the goofballs that call themselves Americans.

I think SNL writers have job security Gov. Palin. You might want to be concerned about your own job security.

She is putting SNL writers OUT OF BUSINESS, not giving them job security. What do you need a writer for when a comedian can just read what you say, line by line, and it is 100x funnier than anything they could dream up?

Another situation where the McCain camp is costing American's jobs. At least Obama and Clinton made the writers come up with new material!

McPalin is a joke, obviously she has problems with her reading and comprehension and that is why she can't articulate the article correctly, which clearly stated that a relationship between Obama and Ayres is a huge stretch. Is it any wonder she couldn't name one newspaper or magazine she reads, she didn't want anyone to know she is aliterate.

Way to go McCain nice pick, a lady under investigation who can't read.

Palin seems to be the only one not to know that after McCain loses the elections, he wills till have his 13 cars and 8+ houses...and her, I just don't know what will happen to her...

..and by the way, Tina Fey will still have her job too!

PALIN IS THE DISTRACTION... The animals in Alaska are so much smarter than Palin, that she needs to shoot them from airplanes, and this note that she reads the NY Times is another joke. The third graders probably read it to her.

The GOP must be desperate. Obama was 8 years old when Ayers was accused. What about the current investigation in Alaska, Sarah? Why isn't your husband in jail for failing to respond to a subpoena?
    GO OBAMA!

Tina Fey does well without morons like Palin – Palin though appears to have more excuses than coherent answers. Are there enough stupid voters out there to buy that bull ?

Keep on babbling your nonsense Sarah. The more you talk the more people realize that John McCain made a huge mistake by putting you on the ticket. Cutesy remarks and winks just don't cut it. Oh and you know the real difference between pitbulls and hockey moms? Only half of the pitbulls are...(fill in the blank.) No disrespect to hockey moms out there..I am one.

  18. WELCOME TO THE OBAMA SHOW

ITS TIME FOR THE MCCAIN / PALIN TICKET TO SHOW JUST WHO OBAMA IS. THANK GOD ITS FINALLY STARTED BECAUSE THE OBAMA SUPPORTERS ARE NOT GOING TO COMPLETE ANY RESEARCH ON THIS MAN.
I DO REALIZE THAT THE DIE HARD OBAMANUTS WILL NEVER GET IT BUT HOPEFULLY THE MCCAIN/PALIN TICKET WILL OPEN UP THE EYES OF ENOUGH PEOPLE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

So, NOW Sarah reads the NYT???

Last week she couldn't name ONE book, magazine or newspaper that she read or reads.

Hey Sarah, Did ya read the WHOLE article? APPARENTLY NOT.

It concluded at the end of the article, that Obama and Ayres had worked on the same CHARITY COMMITTEE and lived in the same part of the city.

Poor Sarah! I am really sorry that McCain had to drag you through all this. He knew, or didn't care, from the start that you were innept and completely unsatisfactory as a VP candidate - but he went ahead, golly gees, and exposed you to all this redicule anyway. What a pal.

Now finish you little warentless attacks, because that is all you have - no plan, nothing that will help America - so we can send you back to Alaska in a few weeks. PS I will be watching the outcome of your abuse of power trial. I am sure it will be you final exposure as the true Republican that you are.

Bringing up a man who objected to the Vietnam war 40 years ago is lame, at best. What about "troopergate," Sarah. What about Todd's involvement in the Alaska Independence group until you ran for governor, Sarah? Is he still involved, covertly while the "shadow governor" for Alaska (terrorism?)? What about your comment that you could "tolerate" gays, Sarah? What about charging victims for rape kits because they contain morning after pills? What about turning a debate into fodder for jokes? How about enduring the scrutiny the other candidates have gone through, in one on one interviews? She couldn't. But she can blame Katie Couric for "gotcha journalism." This woman has disgraced our gender.
